Hey all!
So I bought a Galaxy Tab 10.1 on contract a week ago. Since it's stuck with Honeycomb 3.1 my goal is to update it to 3.2.
The problem is 3.2 isn't available for my operator, that is VIP Croatia. I've tired using Kies to update it but it says I already have the latest software available and it says (VIP) at the end of the name of software version.
I'm aware that I could root it and install a generic one but my concern is that I won't be able to return it to the firmware bound to my operator in case I need to turn it in for something and using my warranty.
So if I do root it and install a generic 3.2 and I decide I want to return it to the Honeycomb 3.1(VIP) will I be able to and not lose my warranty? Will the (VIP) indicator that shows in Kies stay even if I change the software because the tablet will still be locked to my operator?
Install clockworkmod with rom manager and make a nandroid backup.
With a nandroid backup you can restore your default rom.
Save your backup to a computer to be save.

Thank you! I will try it.
Ok it worked. I just have another question. I installed this version of 3.2 which is suppoused to to be the stock one:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1405324
If you look at this link it was supposed to contain some of the apps like Samsung Media Hub, Amazon Kindle and this Live Panel feature. It's also supposed to bring HW Acceleration to the UI, but it still lags like before on 3.1 and increase the performance of tablet in general.
So did I install a wrong version of the firmware? It says it's 3.2 in the about section.
I have a Chinese (PRC) version of the Samsung Galaxy S2. This caused a lot of trouble in the beginning because it doesn't come with the Android market or any of the Google services. Also it didn't allow the installation of non-Chinese ROMs. This was remedied by installing ownhere's hacked mod.
Later it was discovered that you could pretty much put any ROM on the PRC version of the SGS2, as long as you kept the original Modem and CSC. So I did and I'm now running Cyanogenmod 7.
However, now that ICS for the Galaxy S2 has been leaked, I would like to start this thread to provide a source of information for fellow owners of China (PRC) phones so they can update to ICS.
I have downloaded the ICS 4.0.3 package from the above link. I tried the following ways to install it:
- Odin 1.85: repartition, modem, csc AND pda -> NAND write fail in the very beginning, soft-bricked phone, revert to ownhere
- Odin 1.85: repartition and pda -> NAND write fail in the very beginning, soft-bricked phone, revert to ownhere
- Odin 1.85: only pda -> NAND write fail etc etc.
- revert to the original stock Chinese firmware, however I have forgotten the name and code of the firmware and the firmware thread on this forum does not list the latest stock (original) China (PRC) version.
- UPDATE: Tried Bezkes ROM, installed the zip via CWM recovery. Seems to work but many apps still crash, like google maps, the camera, some settings. Functionality is really 差不多.
Has anyone been more successful than me?
I tried kp8 on hk sgs2,home button not working,so give up
Using airbus1.1 and disabled media scanner
Very smooth and okey battery life
And I found that official Facebook apps services is always on,so I using "Simple feed" to replace fb

I'm really only talking about PRC phones. The Hong Kong ones are the same ones as anywhere else in the world. PRC phones are modified not to accept non-PRC modem binaries...

Any news for Chinese owners? Perhaps this thread should also be stickied. Last time there seemed to be quite a few owners of Mainland Chinese SGS2's.
I'm using the Chinese S2. I don't know what China's issue is. What's the point of buying an Android phone if there's no Google Apps or Android market?
Hi,
I'm a newbie w/ android and I made the mistake to upgrade to the ICS version of Samsung note i717. Unfortunately, my experience with it has been quite poor due to the severe lags and hangups.
However, I have been unable to go back to the stock AT&T or Samsung version that the phone came with. I didnt save a backup of the original version. Is there any way to fix this?
I tried installing a ROM that some one made of the AT&T version earlier, but the phone would not boot after that (It would get stuck in the SAMSUNG screen at boot) and I had to re-install ICS to unbrick the phone.
Any help in this matter would be appreciated.
Thanks
Search or at least look in the development section where there is the Odin to stock AT&T GB

It sounds like the samsung apps have been removed from the rom.
Just flash the samsung apps and everthing should work normally.
check the thread where you got the rom, there maybe an attachment with the samsung apps.

PS. the rom i installed is for europian region but i live in egypt
Does this make diffrence?
No it would not make a difference, I have used roms from europe in egypt on vacation.
I still suggest you find the samsung apps again and reinstall them, you may have a bad installation.

Hello everyone,
I'm totaly lost on this website and after over 4 houres on Internet I cannot find a single place where to get a better ROM than the piece of **** stock one that came with ton of bloatware on my cellphone which I have with the (Telus) provider in Canada. My Android version is 2.2.2 so is it gonna brick my phone if I try to install the Cyanogen's rom or any Android rom more recent than 2.2.2 such as Gingerbread???
I really just wana get ride of the stock bloatware pre-installed on my phone but when I tryed to do so with the (Titanium Backup ★ root) apps, it just resetted my whole phone and I lost everything just by trying to uninstall Blutooth (-_-) then GooglePlay thought my apps where still installed so it wouldn't reinstall until I manage to somehow find a way 2 houres later...
