[Q] Anyone use a kogan agora tab? - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Iv seen what looks like a pretty decent cheap tab.
Its a Kogan Agora 7in tablet selling for £125 brand new at kogan.co.uk
It has a 1ghz processor, capacitive screen, android 2.3, usb slot and hdmi out. Its also compatible with 3G dongles and external hard drives.
Just wondered if anyone has any experience using one and know if its possible to root or flash one.
It sounds like a pretty decent bargain to me just contemplating purchasing one.

Lapdock or tablet

Like the title says.... which do you think should be my new toy? Lapdock for our phone or a particular tablet
Pros and cons

Negative on the lapdock.
I've been looking into the Xoom vs galaxy 10.1 and I'm partial to the Xoom because of the stock honeycomb, unlockable/lockable bootloader, and aluminum back. Some of the GT10 devices suffer from 'oil slicks' when the screen touches the glass because it is so thin.
I've also been looking into the Lenovo Thinkpad Tablet (not the ugly ideapad) but I'm thinking the dev community behind it wont be that great.

Well I'm down to the toshiba thrive and iconia a500 but I want reasons on why I I should pick either of these or the lapdock.....I've done my research and know the specs but I eant (hopefully) personal experience with lapdock vs tablets

Peruse the Q&A and General sections for stories of the lapdock (both bad and good). However, between those two tablets I have no experience.

Just try to buy a TouchPad from the next batch of sales HP is supposedly gonna do in a week. By the time you ever get your hands on one, the CyanogenMod port will be out lol. Thankfully I was lucky enough to snag one within a week of the fire sale announcement. I'm typing this post on it right now actually.

Who is buying the Asus Transformer Prime? Off topic

Is anyone else excited about the transformer prime releasing on dec 8th. The specs are amazing. Just wanted to get your input on this tablet as I am looking into buying it when it releases. How good do u all think development will be? Thanks for responding.

Yes, no question.
Love the keyboard add-on too.
I really wish they would be smart about the price and go lower than $499.99 though.
seriously considering it. had an ipad2 but sold it once the et4g came out. the transformer prime looks RIDICULOUS
I love my transformer 1 but the prime is everything I wished the TF1 was especially than it's thinner and lighter than the ipad 2, thinner but just a hair heavier than the galaxy tab 10.1. I most likely wont be able to get it for myself until january. Then I plan on buying the tablet first, selling my tf 1 and dock, then buying the dock
Nuff nuff gonna sell my hp touchpad to cover part of the prime

I'm with you guys. It is gonna be great. His was the first transformer prime? Is Dec 8th the actual release date?
Yes Matty the keyboard looks so cool. I'm selling my Ipad for this beast.

It does have nice specs, and it's thin and all that, but I have some reservations. First, it's expensive, especially if you get the keyboard. The quad-core(actually 5 core) Tegra chip sounds good, but until apps are written to specifically take advantage of it, the speed increase won't be as great as it could be. I would have preferred a screen with better than 1280x800, and lived with a dual-core processor.
Foo shooo... Got my pre order in from newegg. My first tablet!

I won't buy until it has a USB port ON THE TABLET. Bummer because it's close to perfect otherwise.
Better resolution would have been nice.
I'll wait for Samsung to release their next tablet before ever going with an Asus tablet again. I went through 4 TFs before giving up and jumping to the GT10.1. Haven't looked back since. The TF had one of the worst build quality I have seen on an electronic device.
hopefully early next year, so far its the only tablet I've had any interest in.

I have the og transformer, and really want to get the new one, but I can't really justify spending all that money on my college student budget when my og does most of the same. The transformer is an awesome tablet though. For anyone who doesn't have one already I recommend it.
It is especially great for college students who need a proper keyboard to take notes on in class and need the extra battery life so they can stay on campus all day and not worry about getting the coveted spots with outlets to study at.
Maybe if I can sell my og with keyboard for around 400 then I can upgrade.

I'm probably going to do it. I've been holding off on a tablet for years now, and at this point I feel one such as the Prime is more than powerful enough to last me through several years of tantalizing new chipsets. I still use a 1.6ghz dual core laptop from '06. ;-)
I personally don't see the use for tablets if you a Smartphone and a laptop.... tablets don't make calls and can't do a lot of what a laptop can do but to each his/her own. I personally won't be buying one, instead I will wait for quad core phones to hit and then cough up the 500 to upgrade early from my magnificent ET.
I probably won't be picking it up as I have the original TF and dock and hardly get any use out of it to begin with. Shame because the Prime looks amazing. I think a full blown laptop would have better suited my needs.

John that is one hell if a question. I don't know but wouldn't it have to be windows to run Odin? Also it is hard to justify 500 bucks for a tablet but that quad core keeps calling my name. Lol. Going to be selling some things to help with the cost so I feel better.

Have you looked at viewsonic gtablet? There are a lot of different roms for that once you have it rooted.
7 " size - Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus
1.Stock recovery is fully open and ready to flash out of the box
2.Fits in my pocket
3.IR Transmitter so you can use it as a remote control
4.Fast
10" size - Asus Transformer Prime
1.Best specs of any tablet right now
2.Convertible
3.Asus says they are committed to unlocking the bootloader
4.Fast
Good luck.
The original transformer is a good buy for the price and features you are looking for.
Asus announced a Tegra 3 7" today for 250. Seems oki paper.

I am on the fence about the Transformer. Someone I know has the original in great condition for only $300. I'm sure he is going to use the money to get the Prime. I'm wondering if its a good buy at this point or should I spend the extra two bills and get the Prime myself.
Any suggestions??
Good point
i have a HTC flyer and I'm very happy with it.

Wikipad 3d

I was browsing and came across this tablet:
http://mobile.theverge.com/2012/5/3/2995878/wikipad-3d-gaikai-cloud-gaming-announcement
It will have a quad core tegra 3 processor and ship with Android 4 and retail at a mere $250 with the gamepad. What I'm wondering is, could this be better than the prime, for like half the price? It does look quite promising and you can switch from 2d to 3d anytime, on any app.
I was set to get the transformer 300 but may this be superior?
Thoughts?

The article doesn't mention that it will be $250. But it would be pretty cool is some third party manufacturer made something like this for the transformer prime.
If you view other articles, then I'm sure the price is meant to be $250. Unless they've changed their plans...

bump as I kinda need guidance on what to do, wait for this, or get the transformer?
Sent from my R800i using XDA
if you wait for the best thing there will always be something better just around the corner.
from what i read its a smaller screen and might not even be touchscreen, i dont know i didnt spend a lot of time reading about it... basically its a cheap android tablet that supports 3d and has a custom built gamepad dock.
The prime or 300 are more like premium built tablets that support a hell of a lot more than that gamepad, bigger screen, and a full keyboard dock, however slightly more expensive.
My quesitons for you are this:
Do you need a tablet right away
Will you be using it for games, videos, music, internet, etc.
Will a keyboard dock be benifitial to you
how often will you use the gamepad
will using a bluetooth controller (like a PS3 Controller) be an acceptable alternative
Basically, weigh out each benifit and downfall of each tablet and based on your own use determine which is the best fit for you. None of us can tell you which will be the best decision for you.

[Q] A decent ICS tablet?

I have a TF101 and my fiance steals it all the time to mess around or play games like angry birds, or around as equally demanding. I'm trying to find her a decent tablet running Android 4.0 (ICS) that I can afford on a $20 spare a week budget. The one she likes the looks of but I am unsure of any quality is this one on eBay. I planned to buy it under PayPals bill me later policy. Any opinions on that with PayPal?

The problem with those unbranded tablets on ebay, etc is that you'll likely get no support after buying it. Meaning you won't see any Android updates, you don't really have any kind of warranty and there won't be much dev support out there. If you can afford it something like the Nexus 7 will be better long term as it will likely see the next few versions of Android without you needing to flash any ROMs. Those ebay tablets will be on ICS forever, which is already one version old. But the Nexus is quite a bit more than the cheap tablets so if you are fine with the limitations due to your budget get the cheaper one.
I don't think there is even a brand name tablet that I can afford. Problem is I only make $90 a week and $70 is used to get what we need and pay on my truck. I only have $20 spare generally so I'd need something I can get cheap on bill me later.
