Backup Rom question - HTC EVO 3D

Hi, im new in all this things but i read few pages and i decide to put custom rom on my phone and i just wonder if there is any way to backup default settings if i decide to do so.
Also, does Rooting and changing Rom void warranty on phone ? and what if i got insurance ? will it cover my phone coast if its Rooted ?
Thanks.

You won't lose settings by rooting your phone. If you install a custom rom, yes you will lose settings. Your warranty is void by rooting the phone. Insurance through sprint does not cover rooted phones. There are other insurance companies that will insure your phone while rooted. If you don't brick the phone and you can return the phone back to stock with no trace of root, then you can probably keep your warranty.
Use call log backup restore and sm backup and restore from market to backup your calls / sms. Use titanium backup to backup Apps and other settings.

Once you root and install a recovery you can do a nandroid backup which can back up everything on your phone and be restored at anytime. As for root being covered by insurance no, but if anything happens just say you lost the phone which is covered.

Backup questions... Rooted or unrooted

Can I make an exact image of my phone as it is; settings, apps, saved passwords etc without root to revert to in case rooting goes wrong somehow? If not, I assume I need to add a rooted kernel via Odin and then purchase CWM from the market and backup there?
Last one, how does backup work in CWM, does it create an exact image to revert to or just backs up a stock image as if it was just purchased as new?
Thank you for any help you can give a newb.

No as you need CWM and root

Backs up the phone as is at time of backup whatever the firmware is .
Stock firmware is not held on the phone the meaning of factory reset is reinstall last installed firmware .

[Q] Backup before root

Hi i just got my SGSII Im ready to root it but before install anything I want to make a backup, but im not sure. Can I install clockworkmode CWM before root it and make my backup?? I have read but can not fine the specific answer. I really want to have my stock rom in case something goes wrong even with out root
You can back up some data using Samsung Kies. But if you wanna create a nandroid backup, you need to root first. Rooting is safe and does not mod your stock rom. It will add some extra features like ClockWorkMod, busybox etc:

You can flash CF-root and then start to install apps and then use for example Titanium Backup to make backups. If you for some reason want to flash your original firmware back, your apps won't be wiped.
ok then i will use the chainfire root files. I had the doubt because when i root one tab i first made the backup, i thought i would be the same
you can simply get the firmware for your phone at sammobile.com. if you ever need to restore your phone back to the state before rooting, just flash that firmware with odin and you are done.
awesome, every where i checked on the web i never find the specific firmware (not even mention my carrier) i was afraid i could not find it, but with that page i got it
Once you have done what you are doing, get kTool and backup efs too. Very important data in the efs.

[solved] Rooting procedure and data loss

hi there xperia community
got my hands on my wife mini pro so i'm gonna mess it up a bit..
first, i just wanna state that it's a real bummer that you guys got locked BL and there's no easy way to root .62 firmware
now onward to my problem:
i've got sk17i with .62 firmware and i'm gonna root 'cause it's no fun without the POWER OF ROOT!
does the rooting procedure (downgrading to .42, rooting, upgrading to .62) mess with data and apps? my wife will kill me if i loose her sms/mms and she's using gosmspro i don't have a way to back it up
was searching quite a while and couldn't find a way to make a full backup without root and in this xperia i can't root without flashing firmware..
I think there is no way not to lose the data. You could try flashing .42 without wiping data, but I can't promise anything.
Are you sure you can't backup the SMS?

Have you tried - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1844032 And yes you will lose data when flashing from one FW to another if you haven't backed it up.
@mihahn
i'd like to have full backup to be on the safe side
gosms wants money to backup and stock sms app don't see messages from gosms :/
@XperienceD
it's for 4.0+ devices 'cause it's just a script for adb backup command which doesn't work on GB
so there's no way to backup before rooting? bummer :crying:
Yes, just search on Google play store for Mobile Backup, does all the work.

Unrooting i9300 non flashed rom(4.1.1),while retaining data?

Hey I recently rooted my i9300( 4.1.1) using odin and cf-root and now I realised I never used the benefits of rooting and it seems to do me more harm than good (No offense) .I've got tons of apps installed and backuped via titanium backup and I heard your can't restore the backup once you unroot as titanium backup requires root access.
So I was wondering if its possible to unroot and without losing date or getting ota update to 4.1.2 and losing the root that way without losing data?
Kies doesn't seem to work well for updates though it seems.
Thanks
I'm curious, what's the harm the rooting caused you?
You can press Full unroot in the SU app
well harm was probably the wrong word ,it's just I messed with titanium backup and I tend to factory restore my phone a lot because it would never connect to kies . I just wanted to use stock rom because it seems to just work ,actually the whole point was because I wanted 4.1.2 without losing data and I thought it could only be done if I unrooted and use the ota update on kies.
So is there anyways to get that update while retaining root and data?

question about titanium backup

I am currently unrooted, but I am about to root my phone. I know Titanium Backup needs root to run a restore, but can I successfully backup my apps with TB without root??
I recently had my phone replaced because of a bad charging port :-/ and haven't rooted the new one yet. I was planning to hold off because I've getting the S4 ... for free It's just seeming like it's going to be a bit before I get it, probably not until supplies are good. But now I'm getting tired of not having the freedom of a rooted phone again...
Anyway, thanks.
i tried to run Titanium Backup yesterday b4 i unlocked and rooted my replacement and it would not run at all bc it needed Root access ..
Need root.
appbackup
