Hello guys, I recently bought a xperia x10 off my friend. It was running on 1.6 Donut. When I bought the phone the camera was ok (I didn't took any picture but I could go through settings and stuff). I've updated my phone to 2.3.3 today and now whenever I start the camera and start to go through settings or try to take picture it says: "Sorry! Activity Camera (in application Camera) is not responding"
The only options are Force Close and Wait. I've also used "Camera 360" it worked for a while, took a couple of picture and then the same thing happend to that too.
Could it be a hardware issue? cuz I can't return the phone now
Any idea
more info needed. how did you upgrade?

I have the same problem, did everything as you said, so now when you did all that camera works fine?
having the same problem...any solution??
Never have this problem with the ROMs developed from Erick, WB, TH or Blue Sparks.
If you have rooted your phone, you could try one of these ROMs.
the problem appear on stock 2.3.3.. no root.. all stock... clean memory card...
the camera only snap picture when i restart the phone, then after 1 or 2 picture taken the 3rd photo canot snap already. it cant focus and hang. ask me to fc or wait....
I have the same problema, with the stock rom. Im going to try with Wolf's rom, lets se how it goes.
I get the error with camera360 ultimate 2.4.1 and vignette.
any solution??? still having this problem...
nah its fixed now...for the first time rooting fixed that and now everytime i give it a uk update its completely fine from the start

Noticed today, that the camera on my Vibrant is not working correctly. I push the camera app button, and it comes up and looks like it wants to take a picture, but when I touch the screen to focus or take a pic, nothing happens. My barcode scanner no longer works either. It used to constantly focus in and out looking for bar codes, but no longer does. The only thing I have done recently, is install Angry Birds Rio, and un-installed Meridian. I did a hard reset a few hours ago, and the problem is still there. Running stock 2.2(update from Kies Mini) Any ideas?

have u tried flashing another rom other then stock ? try it out and see if it works. maybe the developers roms are better then the stock. u could also use odin to go back to eclair stock and see if the camera works there. try it out. and u could also wait a little while longer to see what others have to say as well good luck
First, try Odin then back to your stock.
If problem persists...
Try a rom.
If problem persists... your camera might be broken
I have not flashed back to stock, or another ROM. Honestly I feel overwhelmed by it. I've read the stickies, and their just seems to be so much information that it makes my head want to explode.
Hi Folks,
I've had my Galaxy SII (i9100M - Canadian version, Virgin Mobile) for a while now.
I've had it rooted for the last 8 months, and about 3 months ago I started running the ICS betas. The camera all of this time has been working fine.
I was testing Simplistic rom (basically from the first release up until RC8 or whatever the last one was) and sometime in between that process my camera stopped working. I've since flashed CM9 using Odin several times, and still nothing. Recently I tried to flash back to one of Samsung's releases of ICS and still nothing.
Whenever I launch the camera I get a black screen with the camera controls. It just hangs if I try to take a pic.
I've searched around here and haven't found an answer -- any insight you can provide would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
two things you can maybe try,
have you tried clearing the app data on your camera?
also, have you tried a third party camera app like camera360?
it sounds like this is a problem with your hardware camera and not the app itself though so i am not sure if either of these approaches will work
Guys, I found a solution.
I flashed back to Gingerbread and used the Samsung Camera Update app that is on another thread in this forum. It updated the firmware and the camera started working.
The Camera Update app does not work on ICS... so it was a long and painful process, but worth it.
I reflashed CM9 after and the camera is still working. Odd! Just in case anyone else has this problem... here is a potential solution.
Since I updated OTA to 2.3.6 build 4.5.141, I have been experiencing a problem with the camera as it shows a black screen (both still and video) and crashes after that.
I am willing to root the phone and install flash a ROM if that could be helpful. I tried a factory reset, SD format/unmount, battery pull, reboot, and everything possible with an unrooted device.
Warranty period is over so I can't ask for a replacement.
Any help is appreciated.
Camera
I had similar problems with upgrading to ICS Roms.
I fixed the problems with installation of Videocam Illusion and ProCapture or FastBurst Camera. I don't know if it is suitable for your Rom.
The only problem I see now with these apps is that I can't open, let say, ProCapture or FastBurst and after any camera or camcorder apps. The only to get these apps to work is to reboot.
Not working
Thanks for your feedback.
But I tried installing all those apps but they all give the same problem (black screen, which later freezes). I tried changing the resolution of the camera and then the camera app did not open at all saying: camera unable to initialize.
Occasionally, it shows a large camera icon in front of the screen and then it just closes down saying 'Activity Camera (in application Camera) not responding.
I do still think it is a software (not a hardware) problem because the phone has not been exposed to any physical damage whatsoever and everything else works smoothly on it.
I am already considering getting a replacement camera but thought I'd exhaust all other options before doing so as it does take a while to get a replacement. Luckily, it is under warranty.
Thanks again.
Id you're looking for a good stock based rom id try nottachrix. I've been on it roughly 2 months no issues

Ive moved to cMIUI rom lately, and after playing with the ICS Camera I have noticed that I can't capture pictures with the front camera, and some other features doesn't work either.. when trying to use the features the message "Unfortunately, Camera ICS has stopped".
Any one had the problem? or have a solution?
It's a rom-related problem. Maybe you flashed the latest experimental/nightly

It's a ROM problem. These are the options you can try:
1. You can try third-party camera apps in market
2. Flash the latest version of the Rom
3. Stay with the Rom and live with the problem
4. Flash another ROM. There are plenty good ROMs out there.

I tried to install other camera applications but i found that ever application displays "INVERTED SCREEN" (When the Camera id ON).
After clicking on the button (to take the snap) it automatically reverts back and shows Correctly in the Gallery..

Hi viewers, i recently got myself the C5 ULTRA E5553 and i'm loving this device especially of course the camera.
The stock camera works fine but once i install SNAPCHAT and start recording a video, the whole snapchat recording hangs and the screen turns black and gets stuck. Once i exit through the home button and clear the app, i open the stock camera app and it shows me "error, camera not available'. and then stock camera app and snapchat camera will not allow me to access the camera as seen on the images attached. Even diagnostics can't access the camera.
I have tried clearing data and force stop on the stock camera app but to no avail. I can only REBOOT the phone and both cameras will work again until i start recording front/back camera on snapchat and everything repeats.
I EVEN TRIED factory reset and i immediately installed snapchat as the first app.... as long as i try to record on snapchat, the camera will just freeze and crash.
I am from Singapore with the 5.0 lollipop. PLS HELP ME i want to be able to use snapchat on this phone

Thanks for the reply guys!!! I tried the link but like i said... i even start with a newly reset phone and install snapchat first... still having problems when recording
Have you tried updating to Lollipop 5.1? I've only recently started Snapchatting, but I have no issues, and I'm running Lollipop 5.1
If you don't receive OTA update notification then try to update through PC Companion or Sony Bridge for Mac

I tried the link but it didn't work, i have 6.93Gb of free space on my phone. It just came back from the repair store he has been restet but snapchat didn't work If you have any other sonlution, i will be gratefull
But somtimes it work one or two times before not when i restart my phone...
Easy solution
Had the same problem, got really frustrated as I tried every possible solution I know of with no avail what so ever.
Seems like a software problem with Snapchat explicitly, since camera app works just fine away from it. All you got to do is update to the latest version, which is 5.1.
Update might be a little bit big but its totally worth it as you can actually feel the better performance and battery life, and ofcourse fixing your Snapchat problem.
Hi, I encountered this after upgrading to 6.0. Service center replaced the camera but no luck, so they replaced the mainboard. Luckily, it was still under warranty.
