hey,
i use an ATT andorid 2.3.4 atrix. i installed SystemPanel and 2x Battery also Sense clock.
the sense clock widget is supposed to show the status of battery as well.
here is the first problem:
it doesnt refresh the time/battery status. i dont know why. after installing 2.3.4 i made a factory reset. bevor this factory reset i had the same programms installed (i dont think i got systempanel though) and it refreshed all the time (well its a clock...). any idea?
2nd problem is: i used my phone a bit and my batery went down to 80% at around 3900mV.
i turned phone off and on again: now its 100% at around 3900mV...
whats this now?
anyone can help me here please?
thanks

Regarding 1st problem , I don't know the answer since I don't use these apps. Maybe the apps simply aren't supported properly on 2.3.4 rom.
Regarding 2nd problem, do a calibration as per instructions I wrote in this thread: (your problem seems to be an exact clone of the one I had )

regarding 1st problem:
i have a battery widget using as well... it refreshes even worse than the sense does...
sometimes my homescreen says i.e.:
clock right corner: 10.00
clock on sense: 9.10
battery on sense: 80%
widget battery: 90%
now i tell you its really funny to see if it wouldnt be so sad

Ugh... I would try to do a battery calibration. If that doesn't help, then the problem is either in your rom or in your widgets / apps.
well battery saver programms like 2x battery or juicedefender disconnect data after some time in idle.
do the widgets need internet connection? well i used juicedefender before updating to 2.3.4 and it worked too...
suddenly my internet connection starts to fail comepletely after some time... what the hell is going on with my ****ing phone? i never had a problem yet...

Widgets don't need internet connection.
If too many problems accumulate, you might wanna do a factory restore.

Hey Guys,
I tried this rom from the beginning.. but there's always been this GPS issue,
I updated Radios, re-flashed Radios after Flashing the rom, always did a wipe,
tried enabling GPS before flashing the ROM (some things, other people helped)
nothing helped for me, and i've also seen, there're many other people out there, which do have the same problem.
I like GPS myTracks, Navi, etc... everything can work fine but I don't want to restart my phone and loose about 10-15% of the power to just en-able GPS... that's way off...
so my question: some guys, brought it to work...
what radios do you use? which kind of version...
how did you flash? anything un-ordinary ;=) etc..
Please, I think there is a solution, except fixing the bug ;P
greets,
I used the latest radio version, but you have to enable gps after flashing the Rom and then restart the phone, once that's done, gps will work with no problems and as far as I know, it doesn't reset if rebooted

Are you disabling GPS and then trying to get satelites?
Is there any reason why you just don't leave GPS enabled? it won't effect anything unless its being used.
true?

Okay, that's a different approach ;=)
So you have GPS always en-abled and it does not drain power? does not effect anything? and is just being used if an application like MyTracks, GoogleMaps etc is beeing opened?
What if GoogleMaps is one of the 6 'last-used' applications? sure about that?
thanks a lot for uR response,
mike

I always have GPS enabled without any battery problems. It is only on and working when an app asks for it. Google Maps stops asking for it when you hit the return button. You can tell that for yourself. When in Google maps you can see the GPS is being used because it shows on the notification bar at the top as an icon of a white dish with green arcs. Then hit return and that icon disappears. All good apps let go of GPS as soon as they are finished with it.
BTW the list you get when you hold down the home button is only a history list - it does not mean they are working in the background.
thanks

Why should it? Just because it is enabled does not mean it is actually on or using any power. It means it is waiting to be turned on when an app I decide to open asks for it. So, for example, my sat nav, google maps, yelp, or google places all turn it on when they open and then turn it off when they finish. They are all "good" in the sense of being well designed apps, that do what they are supposed to. Sorry if you don't like that term but that is what I mean.
Not so well designed ones, like, for example, Shop Savvy don't switch it off. And that is annoying. But in any event I know whether it is on or off by looking at the notifications bar - if the dish icon is there then it is on, if not it isn't, even though I have it enabled.
If it starts coming on randomly then I know I have a rogue app doing something in the background that I have not asked it to do.
hehe thanks man
it's just the thing...
-my location
-GPS
-worldwide
PLUS: en-abled
but i understand now 'good apps' just use it on demand,
bad always have the connection open
just an open connection start battery draining
i just wanted to prevent all this by simple en-ableing it JUST when i need it
like things usally are used turned on - on demand hehe
thx man
finally : it does NOT WORK
so guys...
finally, now tested it about 1 week with the above congifuration...
GPS always on ... on boot... the whole time the phone is up
- @ modaco custom rom: i started any GPS app, and within about 10 seconds, at max 30secs i got a working GPS lock on about 4-7 satellites...
and was able to locate my me
here (vanillain 5.2): i start.. wait.. get 'to see' 2-4-5 satellites (fast) but they don't lock, they vanish for about 1sec, again 5-6 satellites ... sometimes 7 but the just don't lock ---- waiting---- waiting---- ...
i can hold my position: wait for some minutes.. then i ---- get a lock.. then also gps-tracking works... somehow, sometimes
but guys, i really don't have that much time.
I want to get GPS locks during walking.., at any time, fast. i want to get it fast, and everything else ist just '''''BS'''''
so for me: it's not working at vanillain..
that's not worth calling...it works... sry
TIP PS:
guys, switch to 'legendroid 1.01' for working GPS!
i got a lock within 5 secs in my room!!! to 8 satellites...
and enabled GPS after boot (it was dis-abled at boot time) at first boot for the first time,
everything works perfekt
thanks a lot at the developer of legendroid

hi there

are any of u experiencing any problems with this new update??! my mini is going crazy on the battery after this update!!!

well all my apps are running just fine . . before the update the battery was marvelous . . now t's LEAKING!!!
Try using Watchdog Lite. It's an app that checks if apps are misbehaving (using too much cpu for too much time) and warns you if so.
This morning I noticed that something was having trouble (100% cpu untill I restarted my phone). Didnt have watchdog installed then, only seepu which displays total cpu-usage in taskbar, so could not see which app or service was causing the trouble.
Have watchdog running now, will post an update as soon as I find out more
I'm having some problems with android market. I actually reflashed my cell, everything is working smooth but the market keeps showing the error message indicating that it can't make the download and asking me to try later.
I've tried the solutions proposed on many websites, but all of them asks me to uninstall the market update and the problem is that my market is not updated yet.
Does anyone know what I could do?
Just to be sure: you've also tried restarting the phone and/or checked connection (2g/3g/wifi) ?

Yes.. But I've solved the problem already. I turned the phone back to factory defaults. My only concern was if I would lose my app2sd and my root by doing it. But I didn't lose it _0/.
Thanks anyway for the suggestion.
i had the same problem in the begining but after installing the iridium rom everything is fine again

I would like some help from users having same issues. I bought my SGS II About 3 weeks ago... It was all working fine... stock KG7 not rooted. A few days ago it started doing some weird stuff... like random reboots during standby and freezing unable to turn on unless you take out the battery... tried to restore factory setting i installed the new LightningRom 6.1 and the issue is still there... is there a logging app that can save log before a crash? so i can see what is happening? Or is someone having the same issue as i am. Thank you very much for your time and help Cheers
PS. tried to format usb storage and still have same problem... so really don't know what is the problem...
I have finally found a solution... installed XXKH3 FW stock, not rooted yet, and installed an application from the android market called Load Monitor
Code:
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.landak.loadmon
and enabled only Add Notifications, only notify high load, autostart and only screen on... seems to do the job, no battery drainage and most of all NO SOD (Sleep Of Death) or restarts anymore
Hope it helps someone
Cheers
Bump
Bump... Added VillianRom newest version still have the freeze on standby problem.. Apparently when no apps are running it just crashes and i can't turn it on only by going to CWM or odin... and reseting... Any help would be really appreciated
Do you have a software installed called SetCPU?
No... only facebook, google+, Game Dev Story and Dragon Fly...
Faulty Hardware
Mine did the same; replacement phone is perfect.
Sadly it's not an option for me... i bought it used without warranty papers... it was cheaper... i may have stumbled on a solution... cleared Dalwin Cache and it seems to work good now... we will see in a few days how the situation progresses... i will keep you posted
Installed stock XWKF3 AND IT SEEMS to have fixed the prob. Left it overnight unplugged with wifi off and i had a 1% drain of battery for over 8 hours :-D very sattisfied. Installed standard apps now so.i`ll see how it goes. Keep you posted.

Had to turn on Wake Lock. That means my phone doesn't go to deep sleep anytime. Tried a bunch of roms and all the same result. Tried setcpu configs of all kinds and nothing still. Still get freeze up and insane battery drain durring deep sleep. What helps is flashing syah kernel an putting min cpu freq to 100 that way not that much battery drain.

i also have the same problem on my gt-9100T and still it is still happening. first time it happened when i uninstalled social hubs. at that time i was running lite'ning rom v6.1 and only used the phone for 1 month. then the freeze/ sleep of death occur.
i have tried flashing to stock rom/modem/kernel from intratech thread to no avail.
some people can fix the prob by cleaning the battery contact point. some by cleaning the mini usb port. still no luck for me.
right now running on criskelo latest build (KL1 2.3.6)with T-KL1 modem, siyah .9+ and the problem still persist.
so, installed load monitor and u/v and set the min freq to 100Mhz to preserve battery but still can only last 12hours even unused.load monitor seems to use a lot of juice. very frustrating. i need to tick the wakelock option otherwise SOD right after the screen is off.
I am still hoping someone/anyone who might have the solution the share with us all.
is it a good idea to format /system + /emmc + everything? i have done full wipe, still no good.

Hello,
I realized recently that the stock weather widget on my SGS2 does not auto-refresh sometimes although it is set to do so "Every 3 Hours". The widget update is not completely disabled, it auto-refreshes randomly, at 5 Hours, 6 Hours and sometimes it doesn't update for a whole day.
I removed all my cities and added them again, the updates worked for a day auto-refreshing exactly every 3 hours, the next day, the widget started updating randomly again and not every 3 hours.
My background and auto sync settings are on, I have a stable data connection and I have removed JuiceDefender and Advanced Task Killer, the problem still exists and it's driving me crazy because I actually like the stock weather widget.
Any help would be appreciated!

I have the same issue on the Galaxy Nexus (GSM). It's possible that the auto-refresh is not able to determine the location of the device. I have set mine to one zip code and so far it seems to be working. The app/widget needs a refresh badly though.
Hi!
I have been having an issue with my S III lately. For some time I have been trying to understand and configure my gps settings so that I could have gps always activated, without it draining the battery too heavily. I mainly tried manipulating my apps' location settings.
With no consistent results, I ultimately decided to try and turn gps off altogether in the pull down bar. Now, here's the issue; even with gps off, both the stock battery tool and GSam Battery Monitor report a 25% battery drain by "gpsd".
What am I doing wrong, and what can be done about it?
Thanks!
Stock S III, 4.1.2, unrooted.
Didn't wipe data when you upgraded?

I am pretty sure I disabled everything connected with Google and location...
Sorry for posting in the wrong place, will do next time!
it seems there is a bug in gpsd. sometime it hangs at 100% cpu (25% -> 1 of 4 cores) you can check this in shell with "top" cmd
if it hangs only a reboot help.
you will notice a bit lag when you switch your phone on and it gets a bit warm when this happens
for me it happens once every 1-4 days and i have allready disabled all google location settings and samsung security settings
any idea ? i dont find anything else on google.
btw. it looks like this started happen with XELLA but cant say it for sure
/inteks
That sounds exactly like the issue I have been having, especially it happening only one in every few days.
I can confirm that it seems to have had a definitive starting point, but not sure what changes I made at that point. What do you mean by XELLA? And are any other ways of telling when this happens?
