Has anyone else had HDMI mirroring issues since upgrading to gingerbread? Whenever I hook up my phone it only takes up about 2/3 of the screen with the overscan slider maxed out. It worked perfectly in froyo.
I can't even get mine to work since the update.

If you're not getting anything from your hdmi port, check your build.prop in /system to make sure hdmi.mirror.enable (or something to that effect) is set to true.
On my phone (eclipse rom) it was false by default.
What I cant figure out is how to make it work in landscape mode...

It's in the Apps and Games section on XDA.
It's ****ing awesome! Even though I have the US Netflix and used to have to connect to my VPN to use it, it somehow works over Wifi and 3G/HSPA!! I've been watching movies at my desk at work for the last couple days.

You can download it straight from the market now, the Atrix is supported
not if you are in canada. says not available for my device due to the country its in. weird..still have the apk from here and that works fine.
even though its officially supported now, it still shows discoloration and the green bar at the bottom.
I believe all of this is resolved in the leaked Atrix gingerbread beta update.

Yay! It works... but it looks like crap
At least on my Atrix it looks like crap.
I own a Atrix (AT&T) as well as a Droid X (Verizon) and I have Netflix running (from the Market) on both phones. Side by side the video on the Droid X phone looks nice and sharp without blocky pixelation and it's only a 3G phone. But the same video on my Atrix which is supposed to be 4G takes forever to load a video and then when it finally plays the picture looks terrible with horrible pixelation to the point where I can barely make out what it is I am looking at.
I am running stock FroYo on the Atrix without any tweaks. What is the deal with this phone? Is it the phone or the network? The Atrix shows 3 bars at my house (whereas my Droid X shows 4 bars) so it looks like it's got a good signal to the tower but the network speed is really terrible.
I was so excited to get an Atrix (since I have a tablet that has a Tegra 2 chip in it as well and LOVE it) but after owning this phone for a week I have to say I am beginning to regret getting it.
I'm running 1.57 gladatrix. Haven't updated to newer 1.83 radio yet or gingerbread. Newest netflix runs excellent on wifi and 3/4g. Takes 6 seconds to buffer then plays uninterrupted when has good cell reception. Tested data speed at 1.8mb/s.
Have watched over 10 movie/episodes so far no problems. First 10 seconds a little pixalated then great quality after that.

I'll give you a hint, both phones are 3G... It looks like crap on my Atrix as well.
I have a movie on memory encoded at 640x480 1200kbs and the netflix streamed version is perceptualy similar after 10 seconds of initial pixelation then holds steady at good quality without interruption. That's on 3g with good reception.

Unless you plan to watch movies turned 90 degrees on your TV, no, we dont have HDMI mirroring.
Ok to clear up the confusion, yes Atrix has HDMI mirroring. The only drawback to the HDMI mirroring option we have available through hacks and mods it that it doesnt support both landscape and portrait(true mirroring). It just does portrait. What the OP wants, I believe, is to port the existing HDMI Apk from the Photon to the Atrix so we can have true mirroring, or atleast to start the discussion so a dev can look into the files of the Photon to see what needs to be changed so our existing apk can finally be finished.

It probably be best to port the photon 4g mirroring to the atrix rather then create a program like HDMwIn to do it. But at this point i will do anything to get some landscape hdmi mirroring!

Anyone know why videos on Netflix are all pixelated on the x2? Is there a fix?
Sent from my MB870 using XDA App
My guess is you have a connection problem of some sort. Are you using it on wireless or 3g? Mine is usually clear. Only time it gets pixelated is when my internet connection is acting up (having trouble with it at home right now). When the connection is working as it should, Netflix works great. If my connection starts going bonkers, the picture will pixelate for a few seconds and then clear up again as the signal gets better. Until my internet problems at home, I never had any problems with it. This reminds me. Have to call my ISP, again.
Tried on my wifi McDonald's wifi 3g. All Pixelated

Netflix looks good on mine. On 3G Nd wifi.
Sent from my MB870 using xda premium
Just tried on my home wifi. Looks just fine, although at the beginning it was pixelated. IIRC Netflix tried to use an algorithm to change its quality to best suit your connection speeds. As has been said previously, WIFI is recommended over 3G, but you might also want to look into some scripts (speedy comes to mind, but I haven't kept up with that compared to what comes with the latest roms tbh).

Its most likely a network difference. The Thunderbolt has 4G, and the X2 has 3G. The reason you just downgraded is because the X2 is way faster than the Thunderbolt. The Tegra 2 processor is no joke.
Actually its a major upgrade. Even rooted with cm7 the thunderbolt is blowing the x2 out of the water

Mmhmm.... Where are you getting your information? What are you basing this on? Which device was running CM7?
Basing it off being able to fly through app after app, webpages being crystal clear, music not skipping or forcing closed. The x2 was running cm7. The locked bootloader sucked balls. I like changing kernels, radios, etc. Thunderbolt does everything I ask it to without hesitating
Sent from my ADR6400L using XDA App
While I do agree that a locked bootloader is terrible (my previous device was unlocked), I have to say that your other evidence merely comes from OS tweaks, not speed. The Xperia play browser is smoother in scrolling than the X2s, but that doesn't mean that it is faster. A good way to see performance differences is to try heavy emulators like N64oid and FPSe with 0 frameskips and graphics smoothing on and you will see a significant difference in performance, especially with FPSe, which has dual core optimization.
When I put my cm7 x2 next to my RF stock TB yea the x2 wins in quadrant scores, but that means nothing when a game like fruit ninja lags on my phone but not hers. Or videos from SD card are pixelated but not on the tb

Sent from my DROID RAZR using xda premium
Nebtop is for webtop 2.0 and it just allows you to use webtop on non lapdocks with an hdmi cord. Im talking about running the actual webtop 3.0 on the phone screen itself, not mirroring it to an external display. Doing so would give the effect of a tablet ui on your phone.
Thank you for the response though

For Webtop 3.0 you don't need anything, just plug into HDMI and select Webtop.
@pyroemaniac: isn't DPI have to do with the screen itself and not the UI? and wouldn't running the tablet UI on the phone itself be kinda hard to use
If you lower your dpi in the build.prop you can force ics to go into "tablet" mode but it distorts ui elements and causes instability. With webtop at the right resolution on the phone screen i think could be usable and would eliminate the problems mentioned above with changing the dpi.
Plus i just think it would be cool to use the tablet netflix and other apps on my phone

You could try installing safestrap, back up everything, then flash the Web top to the safe system then booting into it. I'm not totally sure about it, but I believe safestrap uses the Web top partition to load a custom ram disk on top of our existing kernel as a way to boot custom roms with a locked boot loader. Though, I would believe that the Web top would need some small tweaking to run correctly, for input, not sure the touch screen drivers would be included... Etc. But if it could be done i wonder with some additional tweaks if we could build a fully functional ubuntu rom...

He is basiclly talking a rom or a launcher with the looks of tablet mode, but on the cellphone screen without connecting anything, something like paranoid android rom we have on samsung galaxy note, i personally tried it on a note and its pretty good, would be cool for Razr.
In a way yes, but what i am talking about is we actually use the webtop software thats already installed on our device. If there was a way to open it like an application that would switch us over to tablet mode "webtop" and when you want to go back to phone mode you just use the same app to switch back.
I think that makes sense haha

All we need is a toggle button to flip one bit. The question though is which bit. Perhaps this thread would garner more serious response if posted in the dev section?

I totally understand that, and you probably WILL get *****ed at, but maybe one dev will think "great idea & i think i know how to do that." Go ahead and clearly post there exactly what you are talking about. Who knows, we could have that toggle by tomorrow &i bet it would get a LOT of press as it would be a whole new interface for Android phones!
This thread is a little old, but I recently acquired a Razr with a bad ESN and cracked but still working screen to use as a HDMI attached media device. Webtop was giving me a few issues, refusing to switch to tablet mode sometimes, so I decided to see if the dpi could be changed to force it into an always tablet mode.
Using a backup of the stock 4.1.2 ROM in Safestrap slot 1, I changed the DPI to 120 and it seems to be working well, apps still show as compatible in Google Play. I'm using Holo Launcher HD and had to switch some settings to get icons looking right.
Here is what 120DPI looks like if anyone is interested.
