Hello guys, I'm new to this forum and also in android world. I've read a lot about android in couple of days and have successfully updated my xperia x10i to 2.3.3 (SEUS) also rooted it and installed xrecovery. Now I really want to have a lot of themes in my phone so I can change the look of my phone every now and then and I've also read about it a lot but didn't really end up with a step by step tutorial, where it will show things from scratch. (All i've found out is I have to use custom rom or something) I want to use something that doesn't really have any major bugs or maybe bugs free.
I want to have something like this : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Om6J89-GKMA
Here's my phone detail:
Model: Xperia x10i
Android Version: 2.3.3
Baseband Version: 2.1.71
(Let me know if you guys need to know anything else)
Does anyone have the time and effort to help me do this successfully??

Hi guys,
I been waiting here in s.a for andriod update..... hmph useless basically, but i have been informed that if i flash my systems with the british generic it will work. thing being is, i got the very old gen build and everything.
heres my details.
Model :x10i
firmware: 1.6
baseband : 1.0.14
kernel: 2.6.29-rel semc-android (AT) semc #2
build: R1FA014
K here what i need, information on to how to get this system into the new 2.1 system, i seen steps there already for build r2 but nothing on my build so any assistence, also, what should i backup? numbers? apps? (dnt really care abt apps) its mainly my pics, movies and numbers but there on sd card accept my numbers.
This is such a noob thing i know, i been out of the firm bending deal for very long time so any assistence in getting this up and running would be AWESOME!
Oh yea not to bump or anything, as far as i can see my phone where i found all this details out doesnt seam to have any branding of any sort. so i guess even global generic verison would do, but please guys tell me what would be best based on the information given above.
P.s its R.S.A :\ had some one once saying im from south america when where no where near there
Debrand. Go Nordic. Done.
Oh, and also Search!
Go here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=683793
Download X10i_2_0_A_0_504_GLOBAL.
Run the flash tool.
In 3m:40s, your phone will be on v2.1*
*Backup all your data using Titanium Backup and/or SMS Backup & Restore first. Install SEUS, PC Companion and connect your phone in flash mode before using the flasher so that all the drivers install.

Hi sorry for the delay, ok this is soooooo awesome but the point i need to know, my build is really old, will it work fine doing all the things in that link u gave me ? cause that looks like only upgrading the firmware. i will be doing this as soon as i can find this file on another sharing site, im having issues with hotfiles and rapidshare of late. thus the delay in reply .
so will this work on build: R1FA014 as is, or do i need to upgrade something, my phone is non-rooted

It will update both your firmware, 1.6 - 2.1 and build R1FA014 to X10I Global.
Will work on yours.
Hey guys, thanks for the help! best part when i started to do this, getting the SUES to install the correct drivers, i tryed the Online update and sony updated my phone to what seams to be identical version above. so i believe my phone is generaly a global version, Thanks you guys for the support, this gave me a better understanding on how to root a device for future use.
Hey guys,
I am very new to android (got my SE x10i Xperia on Friday), I have been reading around about Rom's and Root and all this development and modification stuff and decided that I would have a go at converting my brand new x10i with 2.1 to a 2.1 ROM.
Before I changed the settings were:
Model Number : X10i
Firmware Version: 2.1
Baseband Version: 2.1.54
Kernel Version 2.6.29
Build Number: 2.1.A.0.435
I used the Flashtool version 0.2.6 from the development forum and flashed onto it the Generic version 2.1update1 build 2.1.A.0.435 (MD5: 11712b23ed90eb0c279d19d2f4bcd3b0).
I then used the tool to Root and enable Root access for installing xRecovery and Busy Box.
After this I booted in xRecovery and installed the BitSnacker_2.1x10ROMv1.0 from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=949457
Since the reboot to use the new Rom I have been unable to connect to my wireless network. I turned on the wireless and went into the settings. The network comes up and I typed in the correct password and then it says connecting....then comes up with disconnected.
This problem is annoying me, please let me know if I made a really noob error, because I am only new to this stuff.
Any help would be greatly appreciated, and any tips for a newcomer aswell.
Thanks,
Peter
Maybe here , you should find the answer.
Thanks for the reply, I appreciate it.
Although after reading the thread you linked I am still at a loss as to what to do. The router is right next to me in my room, and before I did anything to my phone it was working fine with the wifi.
I have since backed up with xrecovery and tried a new Rom. Now I dont have the 3G nor the wireless.
Usually i would go to the Sony Ericsson tab in Settings and click the obtain Internet and MMS settings (or whatever it was called) but with this new Rom that option has been removed.
Would love to hear your or anyone elses thoughts in the next steps I should take.
Thanks
Ok first off, sorry for this post. I know theres problably a guide somewhere on the site on how to do this but everything ive found on the site so far is too difficult or muddled up for me to understand, im probably the biggest noob ever to come on here lol. Even if someone could point me in the right direction that would be great.
So anyway i have a SE mini xperia pro and i would love to install a custom ROM on it as i have been lead to believe it can increase performance and battery life. Another main reason i want to do this is so i can install App2Sd so i can store my apps on my 8gb memory card instead of the 120mb internal memory- hopefully that helps my phones performance also.
Model no. - U20i
Firmware Version - 2.1- Update1
Baseband Version - M76XX-TSNCJOLYM-5340415
Kernel Version - 2.6.29
Build Number - 2.1.A.0.6
Yesterday after hours of watching youtube videos and reading endless forums on this site, i finally rooted my phone and installed xrecovery on it. As far as i know, xrecovery is what is needed to install ROMs on an android phone, so i think im going in the right direction ?
I have a few questions which i would greatly appreciate if they could be answered by one of you smart people My first question is: Will installing a custom ROM increase my phone's battery life and performance? 2nd: What is best (most stable and fastest) ROM i could install for my particular model of the mini pro? and thirdly: Is it possible for someone to provide me with step by step instructions on how to do this? or even give me a link with instructions?
Ive spend hours and hours attempting and failing at this, if someone could help it would be hugely appreciated! Thanks a lot!

Tobe Honest the stock ROM is the best as of now its perfectly balanced
for performace & stablity, but if want you could install HYBROM v4.
Its in developers section check out.

1.Unlock ur Bootloader, find some guide in the development forum
2.Maybe u need to flash a kernel that have a FULLY working CWM rec(need fastboot)
3.Install ur cusROM via cwm,dont forget to full wipe,do a backup 1st
IMO stock rom is the best right now, other rom are just like stock rom with some app removed drom it,plus it has a diff framework(maybe)
Hope u understand my broken english
Hit THANKS if i helped u

Are you talking of the SE xperia mini pro or the xperia x10 mini pro? If its the xperia mini pro sk17i then app2sd should work fine. If its the x10 mini pro, then sorry bro, but this is not the right section for your question (but you could use the rom 'Froyobread' for x10 mini pro. Its very stable and works on stock kernel, without unlocking bootloader http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1190037 )
You may wish to read through the FAQ in X10 Mini/Pro forums, try wiping out some bloatware for a week or two before going on flashing custom ROMs.
first off, this is not xperia x10 mini pro u20i forum,
you just need to root and install CWM to install custom rom on that device, no need for unlocking bootloader
That's true, u20 isn't Xperia Mini Pro. You're talking about X10 mini pro. I had that phone, and it was easy to flash a custom rom: just install jdk on windows, download the flashtool, root it, install recovery and flash roms. It's not very difficult, really
OMFG i didnt read its u20 ==
Hello,
I was wondering if someone could tell me step by step what I have to do to install a custom room (jellybean or something above 4.0). I want snapchat to work. If snapchat doesnt work I wont do all of this.. I have previously rooted and installed custom rooms on HTC Desire. I need download links and explanations on what these downloads are.
Phone info:
model: E10i
firmware: 1.6
Kernel: 2.6.29
1.1.A.0.8
I am confused about what I should download and install because there is so much information out there. I know that this forum is filled by users with much more knowledge than me.
Hi,
So I've done my best to read up on this but I'm absolutely terrified of Bricking my phone, so can someone please give me some advice?
I've got a Sony Xperia Ray running android 2.3.4 which is terrible and It won't let me use any decent apps.
I want to upgrade it to Android Icecream but I'm terribly dumb when it comes to phones, my talents lie in computers and I've been up the past couple of hours trying to decide what to do, I can't find a explanation that is noob freindly.
The reason I'm so hesitant is this phone was unblocked from a network to be compatable on any network, and I'm not sure if this effects the updating procedure?
When I downloaded the Sony PC companion it prompted me to upgrade my android but I'm not sure if this will upgrade the Kernel as well (Sorry if it's a stupid question).
I really need someone's help, I'm terrified!
Specs below:
Model: ST18i
Android Version:2.3.4
Baseband Version:8x55A-AAABQAZM-2-3028D-64
Kernel:2.6.32.8-perf

Sony's PC software will also update kernel if going to 4.0.4
sonys 4.0.4 is same or more laggy than 2.3.4 (gingerbread) also it still have a small storage, so u dont will have many space for apps.
if sony software fails to update, download the "flashtool" , with this u can flash firmwares manually. see in general section for tuts. firmwares can be downloaded here: http://talk.sonymobile.com/t5/Andro...y-Bean-ICS-Ice-Cream-Sandwich-and/td-p/154389
but the best you can do with this phone is to install some good custom rom. it will give the best experience on that phone.
to do so you need to check if you can unlock bootloader in service menu (google how to enter)
unlock bootloader: http://developer.sonymobile.com/unlockbootloader/unlock-yourboot-loader/
lookup this fine ROM: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2543426
good luck!
