Hello,
I was wondering if someone could tell me step by step what I have to do to install a custom room (jellybean or something above 4.0). I want snapchat to work. If snapchat doesnt work I wont do all of this.. I have previously rooted and installed custom rooms on HTC Desire. I need download links and explanations on what these downloads are.
Phone info:
model: E10i
firmware: 1.6
Kernel: 2.6.29
1.1.A.0.8
I am confused about what I should download and install because there is so much information out there. I know that this forum is filled by users with much more knowledge than me.

Tough luck , that you received a 2.2.1 device . If you do want to root and get into business you have to downgrade to 2.2 through what I would recommend KDZ ( V10B is a good firmware ) .

thanks... started off now...
DOWNGRADE : check (now on 2.2 , soft version: V10b-OCT-02-2010)
ROOTING : check (used my favorite SuperOneClick v1.7-shortfuse and RageAgainstTheCage attack)[apparently was getting stuck at psneuter attack ]
CUSTOM RECOVERY : check (i dont get it why u guys are worrying so much abt android sdk... u just need 3 files for ADB to work adb.exe | AdbWinApi.dll | AdbWinUsbApi.dll thats it... no need to download whole SDK and then further do repo downloads )
now need help with ROMS & KERNELS... from wht i have been reading u need to WIPE SDCARD to install ROMs??? why? for A2SD? doesnt Froyo+ android version already support app2sd? i dont want to partition my sdcard (use it on many devices)... can i still install custom ROMs available here?
i want a stable / low battery hogging ROM... 2.3 preferred (although 2.2 will also do) which can support custom kernels
i see some undervolted and overclocked kernels available... excited to try them out...
any suggestions on these?
thank you all for ur help!!!
Sdcard wipe is necessary only if using an ext partition. Some ROMs need it, some not.
There are 0 kernels with undervolting.
You should test a Froyo ROM and then a Gingerbread one to see the differences.
Good luck !
Agreed with badeaioan.
You should try a custom Froyo based ROM before anything else and that's because once you get to a GB ROM you will not want to go back.
Hello guys, I'm new to this forum and also in android world. I've read a lot about android in couple of days and have successfully updated my xperia x10i to 2.3.3 (SEUS) also rooted it and installed xrecovery. Now I really want to have a lot of themes in my phone so I can change the look of my phone every now and then and I've also read about it a lot but didn't really end up with a step by step tutorial, where it will show things from scratch. (All i've found out is I have to use custom rom or something) I want to use something that doesn't really have any major bugs or maybe bugs free.
I want to have something like this : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Om6J89-GKMA
Here's my phone detail:
Model: Xperia x10i
Android Version: 2.3.3
Baseband Version: 2.1.71
(Let me know if you guys need to know anything else)
Does anyone have the time and effort to help me do this successfully??
I have 2.1.71 as a baseband, and noticed there are no threads about this (as far as I can tell, the highest i saw was .67.
Can I still downgrade? If so, please provide a link. I just want a nice, easy custom ROM to use.
Also, can someone please help with Custom ROM installation? Any ROM will do, just give a step by step walkthrough on how to do it, or provide a link to a walkthrough. Doesn't matter which custom ROM, just any.
ANOTHER question: I flashed my firmware, to x10i. My phone is originally an x10a. Is that bad? I've been using it for awhile and there've been no problems.
And which one is more supportive of custom ROMS?
if u want a custom ROM based on android 2.3 then all uses baseband 2.1.71 so no need to downgrade imo !! any ROM can be choosen like depends on ur usage coz every ROM out there has some different features !! installing a ROM is a easy task and mostly the ROM thread consists of the instructions on how to install ROM
and check these links both will be of great help

Hi all, I am very new to Android and rooting and really didn't think it would be as much of a hassle as it is. I apologize in advance if this post is in a wrong location.
My problem is basically that I rooted according to this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1531303
and now whenever the phone auto-locks, it reboots. I would be greatful if this could be fixed but I really just want the phone back in working stock order as the US cellular version especially is very unsupported to my knowledge. If it matters, I have done a factory reset since rooting but obviously it is still rooted and the problem persists.
Model: SCH-R760
Android Version: 2.3.6
Broadband Version: S:R760.01 K.FB14
Build #: GINGERBREAD.FB14
Hardware Version: R760.01
I had the same problem. what I did to solve this was Easy as 123...
1. Download USB drivers from Samsung. http://www.samsung.com/us/support/owners/product/SCH-R760IBAUSC?#
2. Download this Simple Upgrade Tool from Samsung. http://www.samsung.com/us/support/owners/product/SCH-R760IBAUSC?#
3. Run Simple Upgrade Tool (and Follow the Instructions). This will bring your Phone back to stock 2.3.6 ROM (Unrooted)
note- This Process is assuming that you installed USCC FB14 Kernal Back on your Phone after using CWM Kernal to Gain Root Access... If Not, Make Sure you Follow the Instructions written and POSTED Clearly By (Props To) sfhub http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=23276856&postcount=3
Does any one know of a step by step guide of how to install the latest version of Android on an HTC Desire S?
There is plenty of information on Google but i cant find a detailed guide that includes how to root the phone first. The HTC Desire S i have is currently running Android 2.3.5.
A couple of questions:
- Does the Android version depend on the spec of the phone? (i.e. does the phone have to have a specific amount of memory or specs for me to be able to install the latest version on the Desire S)
- Does the phone have to be rooted first before i can install
- If i do root and install the latest version, will i be able to revert it back to its original factory settings?
- What does "installing a custom ROM" mean? Is this the same as installing a different distribution of Linux or a modified version of XP?
- What is the relationship between installing a custom ROM and updating the Android version? Is it the same thing?
- And finally, are these custom ROMS safe? Do i have to install a custom ROM to be update the Android version and if so, how do you ensure that when you update to the latest Android version, you are not installing a version that has modifications to record personal information e.g. your email or paypal logons?
Thanks.
up.. this is also my question..
