[Q] Apps using internal SD - Atrix 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I am having trouble with a few apps that use the internal SD for storage and/or cache. Whenever I mount my phone as USB Mass Storage, SwiftkeyX force closes because it can't access the data on my internal storage (because it is mounted to my PC). Also, Fancy Widgets can't find the themes I have downloaded so it reverts back to default...after which I must remount to the phone and then select the theme again. I never had this problem before updating to 2.3.4 OTA and then unlocking + installing the Alien rom. Anyone know how to get apps to not use the internal SD for cache storage?

Unable to install apps on Internal USB storage

Before when I move the installed apps using ap2sd or appmonster by default it used to move to the internal USB Storage(11GB) of Galaxy S2. I recently did a wipe re-flash of ROM and after that when I move the installed apps- by default its going to the external SD card I have installed which is 8GB. Now the internal storage is not used at all. Is there anyway I can fix this issue without going for another reflash? Any help is highly appreciated!

Nope it doesn't... That's exactly what the problem is... Unable to move apps to the internal USB (SD) memory... It looks for an external SD card instead and gives an error...

I think I'm having the same problem.
Only noticed it this morning when I tried to download a new app (existing update fine) and it failed, stating that it was unable to save to USB storage. I also can't mount USB storage in CWM recovery mode.
Did you or anyone else find a solution?
Well it appears that my internal storage is knackered.
Booted into CWM and tried to 'mount USB storage', but am greeted with 'E:Unable to open ums lunfile (No such file or directory).
If factory reset and flashing a stock ROM is necessary, then I can do that. But, if the storage is inaccessible, am I even able to do that? Would opting to 'Erase USB Storage' in the settings>storage menu be of any use?
sameproblem here...
ok i solved the problem...

I had something similar when I installed a ROM with an older CWM. I lost my SD card but could access it from the PC. I copied a backup over to the internal memory and recovered.
how about just unmount the external SD card then try to install again?
Unable to move apps to internal usb storage
I am also facing the same issue.Somebody plz let me know any workaround for moving apps to Internal USB storage. Under settings>application manager> there is an option to move apps to external sd card only. Is it possible to install/move apps to internal usb storage (around 11.5 GB). Please help.
Phone - Galaxy s2 (At&t sgh i777)
ROM - Shostock3 rom (android 4.1.2)
I have mounted an external sd card and using link2sd to move apps to it. One thing I noticed that with sd card mounted, when I move apps to external sd card, some part of the app moves to the usb storage and also the app size increases after doing so. However, still there is no direct way of moving/installing apps to usb storage without an external sd card.

[Q] internal storage

Does the internal storage(32gb) of the phone act like the SD card?
will it get wiped if i install a custom rom??
It won't get wiped unless you choose to
Internal memory can be used as MTP not as MSC (Mass storage like a SD card) unless you do some modifications on the system files. TO do that, you need to root the telephone.

[Q] Storage problem with PARANOIDANDROID Rom

I really like this rom but for the life of me i can't get anything to install on my internal storage or sd card. I have the option checked in the storage menu to use extended storage, but apps that install to anything other then the 2gb phone storage are gone after reboots. I've tried partitioning my sd card and using s2e but all the options are greyed out. I'm not sure what to do really.
I believe JamieD had to do a few "quick and dirty" things to get the SD card to work as it does. I get slow transfer speeds regardless of SD Boost from ROM toolbox.
Enjoy the ROM as it is...there should be enough space on the phone's storage for your apps.
I have 2 Nav programs installed + 83 apps and have no issues with memory.
I would format the SD card back to stock. Stick without the partitions for now.
Do a full wipe, from the mounts menu in CWM, then remount and install the ROM. See how that goes.
Just tried a full wipe and same boat. If its how everyone's is working atm then that's fine, I just thought I messed something up. Or maybe i did??

how to get apps to install on sdcard instead of internal memory

i have a rooted p769, my internal memory is almost full and i have a 8gig sdcard which is not even being used, i have tried every program out there to try to move apps to sdcard but nothing is working, is there a way i can somehow rename the internal sdcard to external memory and have the external sdcard renamed to internal memory so i can trick the phone into downloading and installing apps to it.
you have to install ext2sd.zip flash via cwm issue will be solve

The old SD-Card Problem

Hi Forum,
I have the Xenon-Android installed and never got that sdcard problem solved.
I have that internal and external one (sdcard0 / sdcard1) and can't manage to get data to the external sd in Google Play as in Maps and so on.
Isn't it possible to just have internal memory and sdcard being the sdcard like on other phones.
Can I change some mounting or whatever and resize internal partition somehow.
I would install some other OS, is the backup / test phone anyway, nothing essential.
