So I was messing with my x10's camera again and for some reason, it's not rotating to portrait.. How come? I'm using prerooted GB btw..
yeah, not only you. the camera after the GB update doesn't rotate at all.
its still better than what they originally intended though (to give us the stock android camera)
Guys, what i did notice, is even tho the camera doesnt rotate into portrait, when you snap the picture it automatically saves as a portrait. Did you notice that?

Yes, it's just the UI that doesn't change, probably because screen-rotation is CPU intensive and would slow the camera. It's still capturing in portrait so no big deal.
Sorry to bump up old thread, but i managed to rotate it twice, accidentally.
First time was i launch it from the FB app, i manage to use it in portrait mode.
The second time i managed to do it was yesterday, i manage to rotate it 3 side, left and right, plus one side in portrait mode. But now i cant get it to rotate again
=(
On stock rom though.
If you hold the phone upright in the camera app and press one of the volume buttons, it rotates to portrait.

I tested out my HD camera on the X10 and it's autofocus, but sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't.... am i doing something wrong? sometimes ill point the camera to my computer screen to test and everything on teh screen will be blurry, but then ill wave the camera around for a bit and then maybe come back to my computer screen later and the autofocus kicks in and everythings legible and very clear on the screen through the camera. Same with other things like words on books and stuff. Sometimes the camera will focus and sometimes it won't. Am I doing something wrong or what? :S
does anyone have an answeR? :|
My auto focus hasnt worked once!

I have the same experience.
So its a problem with the X10 itself? Will they release a firmware upgrade fixing this problem or something?
Idk what you guys are talking about but it works for me 100% the first time probably wouldnt work but the second works for sure, remember the camera wont focus like in macro mode, try it again and tell me if it doesnt work, state your firmware build

In my case it is work perfectly!
(By the way i flash my X10 as a morning sport) joke!
UK 2.0.A.0.504 customization
Works on my X10, too.
Mine works perfectly too.
But just a tip, if u want the video to focus in macro, switch to the normal camera, change setting to macro, then switch back to video and there u have macro video works for me evrytime

On the still camera, you will see four icons on the left. Click the bottom icon which by default I think is a square. Macro mode is the one that looks like a flower. After you have selected that, switch back to video and that should work

Mine work too, it just a bit unresponsive, or slow responsive. Pardon my English.
Works fine here. Used it to record a sports game the other day. Focused in and out of things as I moved the camera around the court.
the auto-focus is not working even on m x10 :O(
Is there a mod or an app to get manual focus? I could really use this when taking photos. Auto focus is good to an extent, but when I need something close I watch it go from a perfect focus to blurry and it's really annoying
I second this.

You know we have a two-stage camera button, right? Half way down focuses, all the way down takes the picture. So just get up close to your subject, half press, and then adjust your length to match the depth of field you're looking for.
I don't know of any apps that can hold the aperture at a fixed place though.
Like I said in my first post, I do that and watch as it focuses beautifully on the subject but then blurs it back out. Try it. Use the keys on your keyboard to take test shots and toy with it, it's quite annoying
It does have touch to focus as well...

You just touch on your screen where or what you want your camera to focus on. You notice the grid will move. Then snap the pic. You can also turn off auto focus in the settings. Im pretty sure there is no actual manual focus mode.
The op is right, the camera auto focus is stupid on close up.

Have you ever actual done those things when trying to take a photo close up? Because I have and guess what, it does the EXACT same thing as pressing the shutter button and without auto focus on, it still focuses
Yea agrees with op. Sometimes you get lucky but usually touch focus and half pressing the shutter button will focus then before it takes the picture it will lost its focus

Hey all,
Ever since the ICS themed ROMs, I have noticed that whenever I open the stock camera on my phone, it will be in landscape mode even if I have auto-rotation turned off and have been using my phone in portrait orientation. I had this happen both on UnNamed and now on ICScreweD.
Kind of annoying to have to do the following steps every time I open the camera and realize it's sideways:
Close camera app
Pull down quick settings toolbar
Turn auto-rotation on
Open camera app
Take picture
Close camera app
Turn auto-rotation back off
Write way too many steps in the XDA thread on how to take a picture
I realize I can take the picture sideways and the phone will correct it in the gallery, but this just irks me. Has anyone else experienced this?
Thanks,
Leker
What you describe is normal behavior. Sounds like you want an app like Tasker to control when auto-rotate is applied. Or Smart Auto-Rotate. Both can turn it on when camera is launched and turn it back off afterwards. Tasker can do a ton more too.
I have to ask though--only the little icons get rotated in portrait mode. Is it really that annoying?

I have the same issue, did you find a solution ?
Hello everybody
I found exposure slider in camera setting has no effect on viewfinder and also on resulted media . Weather was still camera or video.
Any one confirm this or else?

I have the exact same problem, from both front and back cameras. Same in third party camera apps, exposure controls simply do not function as expected, no change at all. HDR picture mode seems to work fine though.
Not a serious enough problem for me to RMA, but it is a small dent in the glory of the S3 for sure..

I also had this issue and was deeply disappointed, because my optimus 2x made much better shots in low light because of the exposure compensation.
I found the solution today: I used the hidden camera menu *#34971539# and discovered that my camera was ZDFE02 and the phone firmware was ZDFE03. If your phone to cam button is greyed out, do this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=32721917
After copying the file to internal SD, restart, then update and restart. You get new cam firmware and now the exposure works.
I've noticed that I am unable to rotate the panorama feature to landscape mode... I have never had a phone unable to change the orientation of the panorama snapshot feature.
Try to replicate it like this: Rotate your phones orientation 180*, the camera buttons should rotate correctly. Now if you have the same issue as I, the panorama bar should stay in a vertical position.
They come out like crap if I take the panorama shot vertically, its center pivot point screws up the image versus it being in landscape mode to get a wider shot.
Anyone else experience this?
Auto-Brightness, FFC low light issues, and this issue are all making me decide against this phone.
Mine works fine.
Here's what it looks like. Portrait mode vs landscape mode. Pay attention to the camera buttons to distinguish between them.
Really weird bug.
When you first use the camera in Panorama mode, the phone flashes up a message saying you have to use the phone in portrait.
So it's not a bug, it's an intentional thing by LG. Why they do it is probably Reasons.
I've reflashed, reinstalled, and re-setup my phones so many times over the years. Must have glossed over the pop up at one point.

In landscape mode?
I'm using the h860 version and I also noticed this and I didn't read the pop up message that I can only use the panorama in portrait mode. That's fine with me, it can still produce the best panorama I've ever seen....
LG G6 Panorama
Yes. Why on earth did L.G. spoil a magnificent phone with this lack of thought. Not being able to take panoramas in landscape mode defeats the whole object of using the feature.
This and the discontinuance of the home screen instant call icons were a very bad change in the new phone that would otherwise have been close to perfect.
Also why did they discontinue the use of the colour changing L.E.D. on the new version.
