Tried to install CM7 on my Vibrant 2.2 Rooted using Superoneclick method - Phone has superuser, Busybox, rom manager premium. I tried to flash clockwork recovery...
Clicked on Rom Manager
Clicked Flash ClockworkMod Recovery
Tried both Galaxy S Vibrant and Vibrant (MTD) options (seperately)
current recovery showed both versions after each flash and reboot
Clicked reboot into recovery
Phone boots into stock recovery
Tried reinstall packages like 5 times after each flash
always get signature verification errors
Im stuck here.. Could not figure out how to get past this issue
Any help greatly appreciated!
Only flash cwm recovery mtd 2.xxx since you're going from froyo to cm7.
Flash the recovery again, reboot into recovery, reinstall package, wipe data, reboot......sometimes this worked when I had issues a while ago.
Please back up everything before you flash...
I have just learned that I have the Stock 3e recovery on my phone... I have read that on the I9000 that you have to flash a new kernal... Im not sure if this is my problem, but last time I did this I bricked my phone where it would not power at ALL

Thats the exact Thread I was using before
1. Download ROM Manager from the Market.
2. Flash Recovery.
3. Choose Vibrant as your phone.
4. Accept the Superuser prompt.
5. On the very FIRST boot of Clockwork, you may need to manually select "reinstall packages" if Clockwork does not start. You should only ever have to do this once. It will be automatic from then on.
6. Watch the backup go!
After step 5 It always says signature verification failed, no matter how man times i click it or reboot phone
Even if I force reboot by holding all three buttons or reboot into recovery from rom managers menu it does this
Have you heard of this 3e recovery not working and only 2e works
Did you use Odin to flash the kernel that's posted?
Here is froyo that has modified recovery and it's rooted.....makes everything easier

Well I got it back to the original software because it did brick my phone again, but it was just a soft brick. I restored it back to 2.2 froyo and I have it rooted again.. Not sure what to do now, I think i need to try getting back to the 2e recovery system

if u want to install cm7 on ur phone its really quite easy! odin back to stock 2.1 as 2.1 is easier to root then froyo. Once ur at 2.1 root the eclair method by installing the update package twice and the second time it should turn green. Now go into Rom manager premium it wont u download the cm7 nightlies if ur on 2x! Pick Vibrantmtd and pick 3x not 2x. then when thats done go into downloads and download the newest cm7 nightlie which is 33#. For ur first nightlie always choose all three! Wipe data, wipe dalvik, backup rom. Then when u move on to #34 u only have to pick the 2-wipe dalvik and backup rom. As its always good to wipe data on ur first cm7 nightlie. With rom manager premium its as easy as 1.2,3

Lol Tried this when I had to flash back to stock after I soft bricked my phone... For some reason, every time I tried to root it again it would always tell me I was already rooted, but would not let me actually reinstall the packages... I tried the update.zip method and the superoneclick with both exploits. Its like even if I wipe it something gets stuck behind..

Was it the same software that you flashed? cause the Eugene software in your link always puts the I9000 software on it... Its a Vibrant(SGH-T959) and the boot screen changed to I9000 and it wouldnt boot past that when I flashed it with yours.

very simple, if you have already done the "flash CWM" via Rom Manager, then you should have an update.zip file in your root. Odin back to stock and hit reinstall packages. It should reboot into recovery. Hit reinstall packages again and you should have green clockwork..
OR
You can try to flash a stock + voodoo kernel via Odin as well.

Hello everybody,
First I'd like to thank to community for the hard work. I v read a countless amount of pages of this forum and I can't even imagine the time people spent helping on issues or writing tutorials.
So thank you if you re up to spend few minutes on my specific case (and sorry for the bad english).
Here is my device and the different version of kernel ...
1/ Rooting my device (tutorial in french translated from xda)
http://www.cnetfrance.fr/produits/guide-rooter-son-galaxy-s2-39763841.htm
S-Root version used: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1125414
Everything went pretty well when I rooted the GS2. I got the Superuser app so i figure it's ok.
I just used a modified kernel found on xda who was corresponding the my base band version (just the PDA in Odin).
2/ Installing a new ROM (Cyanogenmod by Rom Manager)
I followed : http://www.redmondpie.com/install-cm7-on-galaxy-s2-using-rom-manager-how-to-tutorial/ and http://wiki.cyanogenmod.com/wiki/Samsung_Galaxy_S_II:_Full_Update_Guide (official guide) using Rom Manager premium.
When i tried to reboot in Recovery (manually or with Rom Manager), i can't find the "Install the zip" option, I have 4 available: "Update from the zip", the 2 wiping/delete options and the reboot.
So obviously if i try to wipe files, wipe the cache then to update with the zip I have the following Error:
E: failed to verify whole-file signature
Do you have any idea what went wrong in the process ?
Should i flash the phone withOdin and change my base band version to another one ?
For info, I did the Permission Fix option in Rom Manager too. Didnt help.
Thanks a lot.
U need clockworkmod instaled first..

You didn't install ClockworkMod Recovery.
Thanks for theses answers but I think I installed it with Rom Manager and i flashed it to the last version.

When i reboot in recovery mode here is the only options available (and it's the problem i pointed out) :

Maybe a problem with my SD card ?

As we've already said, you haven't installed CWM Recovery. You see at the top of your second photo where it says "Android system recovery (3e)"? That's stock recovery.
you can't install CWM recovery thru ROM manager.
just flash the CF Root Kernel for KI4 thru ODIN , you will have CWM recovery.
Hmm I understand about the CWM version I'm booting with, but as you can see on the first capture, my kernel version is a modified one i got after using Odin (puting this Kernel : GT-I9100_XXKI4_insecure.tar from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1101671).
I got the root access by S2 Root.
Ok I think I installed only the Kernel and not CF Root available here : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1103399
I ll try to redo Odin and stuff and let you know if I'm still alive.
So it's not great right now. I have installed CF Root with Odin, so I had CWM on my phone (I could see the application). Then after reboot with CWM Recovery and installing Cyanogenmod, the phone doesnt want to start anymore.....
I tried to apply the insecure kernel again with Odin but still impossible to download. I'm stuck on the screen with the yellow sign and written Galaxy S2.
HALP !!
I just tried to put back the official firware version : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1075278 and put it in my phone with Odin.
Ok, I dont have the yellow sign anywore but the phone is still stuck on the boot screen (where it's written Samsung GALAXY s II)...
What should I try ?
I'm still able to boot with CWM recovery but I didn't make any backup and nothing work.
Do you think the phone is dead ?
5 posts in a row?
So, just to clarify, you've tried to install CM7, which amongst other things tells you to do a nandroid backup, and also to flash twice in succession. Did you do either of these things? The instructions are there to be followed, don't just ignore them.
Ok my bad I didn't backup anything because I had no data to backup. This was maybe a bad move...
Anyway, I tried to flash it twice yes. Right now, i'm working with a modified Kernel (with CF Root), and booting in CWM Recovery. When I want to flash again by installing from the .zip I get a Satus 7 Error.
In CWM, every advanced options are apparently available but I dont know anything about them.
And just so you know, on my SD Card i have 1 update.zip and the update-cm-7.1.0-Galaxys2.... .zip from Cyanogen.

Flash a stock rom with Odin and then root your phone again. Start reading and follow procedures when you want to flash custom roms again .See Intratechs`s thread for a stock rom
Thanks for your reply.
I did it, it didn't work, I mean i could flash with Odin but the reboot doesn't work : the start screen appeared without the yellow sign, but it's stuck on it.
--- update
FYI, I installed Rom Manager yesterday, it way interact in a bad way with CWM Recovery.
For now i can mount USB by CWM Recovery but cannot do anything else.
If you have a method to clean completely the phone ? Maybe the bootloader is broken...

I re partitionned my SD Card with Odin and tried to install a new stock ROM. Everything pass with Odin but to finalize the set up (while reboot), I got some errors and still the same problem during the boot. It's stuck !
I installed a insecure Kernel so I can access CWM Recovery but still stuck and now I can't mount anything .

Hello guys,
I would have not made this post without a reason! I have searched the froum and used google for over 2 days but dont have a solution for my problem that's why i opened the thread!
My SGS2 was on CyanogenMod 7 and i decided to try the leaked version of 4.0.3 (I9100XXKP8 to be exact) so i preformed a full backup via recovery!
After this i flashed 4.0.3 using ODIN and used it did a root on it and istalled CM9. I did this just to see the real difference between the 2 firmwares. Everything worked great i had no problems at all.
After i was finished playing around with the firmwares i decided to restore my CM7 backup! I had no problems booting into recovery and the restore worked fine! no errors or anything. After i selected to reboot my device i got a Kernel Panic and couldn't do anything!
So i flashed KI3 stock from sammobile and rooted it via CF and then again i tried to install CM7 which goes fine through the install no errors! when i select to reboot the phone i have the ''Samsung galaxy s2 screen'' in a reboot loop! I reflashed the phone again with KI3 and tried again i followed the instruction step by step including wiping data/factory reset and wiping cache the same thinghappens. I tried to restore the CM7 back which i made, the restore process goes through but i get a kernel panic! So i reflashed KI3 again i thought it could have been the bootloader... i got the old boot loader and flashed it but i keep getting the boot loop! The strange thing is i can flash CM9 and it works but CM7 will not install on my phone at all! I have tried flashing it 10 times in the last 2 days.
Can anyone help me fix this and get back to CM7 because i dont know what to do anymore my flash count went from 5 to 39 in the last 2 days!
Note: i have tried using recovery and RomManager neither of them work! Also tried Stable CM 7.1.0 and nightly builds!
Try this and then restore again:

Yes i reset everything there was i did this whole guide step by step about 20 times tried everything! i even had help from the guys working on CM9. They couldn't help and told me to open a thread here :[
Well, the pit file is probably the best bet then. Good luck when you get it.
By the way I meant a factory reset after the kernel clean and restore.
Kernel clean -> restore -> factory reset.

I have tried this still no luck :[ Also tried previous back ups but the are not working either. I also tried to flash Villian rom 3 now and the only thing that happens it stays on ''Samsung Galaxy s2'' screen no reboot or anything for bout 10 min. tried to go into recovery but it isn't working :[ back to flashing KI3 again!
Which kernel were you using when you originally made that cm7 backup? Was it the stock cm7 kernel or perhaps siyah's? The kernel panics are probably due to using a cm9 kernel(recovery 5.5...) to restore a cm7 backup and then using cf-roots ki3 kernel(recovery 4.2...)to restore a cm7 backup. I'd try flashing siyah's kernel(recovery 5.0...) through odin and then try to restore that backup.

Boot into recovery
wipe data/factory reset
goto mounts and storage > format system
install cm7 from sd card, then install it again right after
reboot
If this doesn't work throw the phone against the wall because this should work, unless flashing those bootloaders messed something up, or you flashed the wrong one.
as a last resort....
flash stock firmware.
flash cfroot kernel
try to flash cm again.
always works for me.

Hello
I've accidentally flashed a wrong cwm-recovery (meant for some other phone)
After the installation I've rebooted into recovery and it booted the one I already had (that's when I understood it's the wrong one)
Then I've tried to reboot back to my rom but it got stuck on the rom's loading screen
Tried to flash a new rom after using gs2RomWipe
Tried to restore from a nandroid backup
all of them gave the same result.. stuck on the loading screen
Now to my question...
If I flash a stock Rom via Odin.. will it be enough? will I be able to reroot and use my phone normally again?
Or is there an easier way maybe?
i did the same today..
all the time bootloop..
flashing same rom that i was using did not helped..
flashing some other rom helped but cant call cause phone dont see simcard..
flashing some other roms like cyanogenmod also stuck my on bootloop..
I am pretty sure you have to flash via odin.
Update...
I've flashed a stock rom via Odin but it went into a bootloop
when I've entered recovery it said E:failed to mount efs (invalid argument)
so far I've found no way to make the phone work
please help

and it usually takes 1-2 mins max for me
also doesn't explain why stock from odin wont work
It seems to me that I need to somehow fix the efs folder but no idea how to do that
almost all the guides I've seen about that requires the rom to work and use root explorer
the others wasn't clear enough or just not related
according to the shell commands my efs folder is empty
copying the efs folder I have on my sdcard doesn't help because it's not there after reboot
I have a tar.gz as well but not sure how to use it
can I flash the .tar via odin? or some other solution with adb/shell?
or do you think it has nothing to do with my problem?
anyone have any idea how to help me???
I've tried many different ways but my device just wont make it past the loading screen of the rom (doesn't matter which one)
I really have no idea what can cause this problem
thought that flashing stock rom via Odin should fix it but it doesn't help
I've tried some methods I've seen to fix efs problems but so far nothing helped
I'm really desperate at the moment :\
download mode and flash the cwm kernel via Odin should work.

OK.....just a quick thing......Odin flashing a normal single file stock firmware *may* not be the solution as it just overwrites what is already there during the flash. I will provide a link to a three part firmware that wipes the old as it flashes.....this essentially flashes the firmware onto 'pristine' memory partitions....it *might* help......

This might be my S2, or it might be my W...but it's definitely CM
background info:
samsung galaxy s3 i9300. Rooted with cyanogenmod Installer: http://beta.download.cyanogenmod.org/install
A while ago I tried flashing a costum rom, however i wasnt fully satistied so went back to cyanogenmod. My SDcard space went from 11gb to 2gb left. I went to recovery (CWM Touch) and formatted system and sdcard (which was a huge mistake I believe). As far as I know, I have no rom installed right now after the format. Ive downloaded MIUI and put it on my external SD and tried flashing it from my external SD. After wiping dalvik, cache and factory reset flashing went well. When I press reboot device CWM says "root access is missing, root device?" Now there are 2 options: "no" and "yes root device (/system/xbin/su)". Both options result in my phone stuck at the boot animation.
I thought because I had no root, I had to flash a stock rom. So I downloaded a stock rom and tried flashing it. CWM said "installation aborted". So right now Im kind of clueless. Can anyone help me and tell me what to do? Ive been searchin this forum for quite a long time now. Any help would be appreciated.
Kind regards

yap, there was a lot of data I couldnt access. I wanted to clear the whole SD and flash a new rom so I could basically start over again with a fresh new SD
Which stock rom you installed??
And are you able to flash that miui rom you talking about now??
If it asks fit root just click no.. That's a problem I guess with the recovery not detecting root but you still have it.. just not into your rom by clicking no... then if you don't have root you can flash a supersu file through recovery..

Can u try using odin?

Yes, unless it is a repackaged stock rom you must use odin, not CWM to flash it. You could try using archie's rom or one of Wanam's in CWM. Or download a repacked stock that is flashable in CWM.

Yes the MIUI rom has been flashed "succesfully". Only thing is when I reboot my phone, it gets stuck at this screen:
