You need to install a custom kernal to overclock.

Install Faux's - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1156040
or Edgan's kernel - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1173225
to allow overclocking

stock kernel is max 1ghz. the custom kernels allow you to do 1.1 ghz

Which kernel is better for undervolting? And I have no interest in overclocking. Yet anyways.

i personally prefer Faux123's kernel, but they both do the job just fine.

[Q] setcpu

I have used the one click root. I kept the stock 2.1. How do i get setcpu to switch my speed to 710?
u have to have a rom that supports overclocking 1st
You have to flash a oc'd rom or kernel like zanfurs oc kernel, look in android dev.

Try xtrSense if you want an OC experience that runs smooth like Stock, or KaosFroyo if you want a Vanilla Froyo experience out of this world.

Setcpu not letting me overclock?

I rooted my TB via the one click method offered by Captiankrtek and flashed Das Bamf 1.3.1. Then downloaded setcpu, autodetected speeds, tried disabling perflock (which it says was not needed) and then tried overclocking past 1024MHz, but alas, that is my highest setting. So I though maybe I need to flash the kernel. Went to Rom Manager and have tried every kernel under Mr. Bobrowitz's section. In the software information it clearly states the custom kernels but setCPU is still sticking to 1024. I tried uninstalling setCPU and reinstalling but nothing is working. Any thoughts? Thanks in advance.
Unless you have a overclock kernal you won't be able to overclock. Sounds to me you have a stock kernal.

I am running the kernel that is included in the Das BAMF rom. setCPU shows the smartass setting and everything, but 1024 is as high as I can go
You do not have an overclocking kernel. You cannot overclock in this one. That is the problem. Look in development for an OC kernel.

I am a borderline retard I guess. I thought it came with his 1.2 kernel. Also, I tried to flash the 1.9 kernel via CWR last night but I see that link is gone today so maybe that was broken when I tried last night. Anywhootles, I just flashed the 1.2 Kernel by Adrynalyne and it works perfectly. Thanks for not bashing me for my stupidity.

great speeds
Bamf 1.3.1 does include his 1.2ghz oc kernel, "--New kernel: 1.2ghz, smartass (heavily tweaked this time) as default governor, GPU+ patch."

Undervolting on GB?

I'm still stuck at Froyo 2.2 KB5 ROM (Project V with Bali-X) but I want to try a new one GB ROM. Everything seems to be working well there but I can't find information about undervolting possibility on GB kernels. Even tegrak overclock doesn't seems to be working with them.
Pimp My CPU or Voltage Control works well for UV with the Glitch kernel for GB.

First, you need to be running a kernel that supports UV. I'm not sure if any of the Samsung based rom kernels support UV, but if you go a CM7 based rout, glitch v11 is insanely good at UV.
If you go CM7, make sure you Odin back to the froyo bootloaders first, as you wont be able to see your external sdcard.
Also, make sure you read the CM7 dev op carefully and read the CM7 q & a op carefully to know what most of the bugs are before you flash.

Overclock stock cm7 kernel

What does it take to overclock the normal cm7 kernel? The newest nightly kernel is by far the best kernel i have used and it overclocked would make it perfect. Any help is appreciated.
You can't overclock those kernels. Only goes up to 1 ghz. You need fauxs kernels to overclock past 1 ghz.

they were asking how to overclock... an answer saying 'you can't overclock' and then telling them how to overclock might be a little confusing.
@pfoxdizzle download the 1.3 kernel and place it in your internal as you did for CM7 and then install zip and reboot. You should then be overclocked. I have looked around and this is the only link I can find for you

You might also find it helpful to install a CPU app (free) so you can adjust overclock. Hope this helps.

I believe I said you can't overclock those kernels (stock kernel because that's what he wanted to OC) And then told him to use fauxs kernel. You just repeated what I said, but if it makes you sleep at night, fine.
