I have used the one click root. I kept the stock 2.1. How do i get setcpu to switch my speed to 710?
u have to have a rom that supports overclocking 1st
You have to flash a oc'd rom or kernel like zanfurs oc kernel, look in android dev.

Try xtrSense if you want an OC experience that runs smooth like Stock, or KaosFroyo if you want a Vanilla Froyo experience out of this world.

Hi i just switched to rom eugene373 vibrant9 but don't know how to overclock it to 1.2ghz with lagfix... i need help please this would def make my day and i will def return the favor in the future to people who don't know how to.... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=7752834&postcount=463 i already read this page but i have no idea what is talking about.. can some one help me step by step how i can overclock it and also have lagfix on my new rom thank you merry x mas and happy new years! thank you!!!
Download destroyer of worlds aka DoW
I made mine go to 1.2 with, that
Also u need setcpu app
xriderx66 what rom are currently on vibrant 9?? and DOW is not on the market....
DOW is on Team Whiskys site in donator section last I checked. It's not an app it's a kernel.
is that kernel compatible with eugene373 vibrant9?? and do u install kernels just like roms?? with rom clockwork?? btw i am on eclair not froyo.... i need to know how i can install kernels if any1 can link me to a website or video on how to? thank you =D
btw im very thankful for all the info so far u guys are the best! i know noobs can get annoying at times but werent we all noobs at one point? haha thanks!
Kernals install through clockwork by choosing install file from SD and scrolling to the kernal.
Silly question, why flash a rom if it's still 2.1?
is 2.2 froyo suppost to be better?? i don't know myself because i am a noob =D
i am about to odin my phone right now lol.... anyways what's a great 2.2 rom out right now i heared axura is quite good... i also heared with 2.2 froyo GPS don't work =(

I currently have Nero 3 and Axura 2.2VE and they're both great Roms. I'm going to stay with Axura for now because I find myself flashing every other day and that needs to stop lol.
2.2 should have no negative effect on your GPS and it's better optimised for our hardware making everything just faster. It also has other abilities like flash support etc.
If you want to run DOW from Team Whiskey then you should go with Nero 3 as they will be compatible.
My question now is why the desire to OC the phone to 1.2?
tw core kernel should work with any 2.1 rom. i got decent battery life and performance with core.
as for 2.2 (which if you are flashing, i highly recommend going to a 2.2 rom), dow kills battery. i ran dow14bln with different nero versions (b2 and 3, and v1), and it would kill my battery in about 6 hours without even using the phone... but the performance was amazing.
just keep in mind that if you run a 2.1 rom you HAVE to use a 2.1 kernel, similarly 2.2 rom means you need a 2.2 kernel. and i'd get a rom/kernel combo working before thinking about adding in the potential headaches of a lagfix.
personally, i think nero v3 with the voodoo kernel is pretty good. not as fast as the 1.4ghz oc, but a good performance/battery life balance.
core can be found here: http://teamwhiskey.com/download.html
nero and dow can be found here: http://board.teamwhiskey.com/
ty u guys are awesome!! =D
hello,
I'm using the official lg rom v2.2.1 that came with the phone. I wanted to update to cm7 but I read about the problem with the BT wich I must have. another thing is that I'm using hebrew and I need it to stay that way.
The thing is that the touch screen is very bad and lags a lot.
If I will upgrade only the kernel what will be the affect on the phone and how do I know what is the best kernel for my version ?
In general I want to fix the touchscreen bug and to OC the phone.
thanks for the help.
If you just want to overcome the touch screen bug then I would suggest using Der_Caveman's Kernel, it is quite old but is usable and removes the touch bug and enables OC.
The kernel wouldn't change any outward appearance of the phone, except maybe increase the quadrant score a bit. If you really want a good performance boost as well then try franco's kernel. Since you are using the stock rom it is recommended to take a nand backup before flashing these kernels. And a kernel doesn't change the system language AFAIK.
Thanks for quick reply. will these two kernels good for froyo 2.2.1 and are there known bugs that I should be aware of before updating ?
As far as read the franco's v18.1 is for 2.3.3...
I have never used Der_Caveman's kernel, but it is bug-free AFAICT. And in the link that I have posted above, franco kernel is available for both froyo and GB. Download the version that says "franco.Kernel v8.1 CFS", it is for froyo.
And as I said earlier, since you are on stock rom it is advisable to take a nand before flashing a custom kernel.
i used dookmatt's kernel which was really good for me(flashed it on stock 2.2.2)...i had no touch lag, no bugs. that would be my recomandation
also dont forget nand backup is holy!

Can I OC with this one ?
OK, I flashed Der_Caveman's Kernel and so far it looks good. the touchscreen is better and I OC to to 729 using setcpu though I cant tell the difference in terms of the speed.
how can I tell if its really 729 and not 600 ?
thanks.
yes my O1 ran at 787 mhz and it was darn stable(at 800+ i had frequent freezes and reboots when launching apps). i also had a friend of mine install this kernel and he's happy with the "new" phone i made
quick system info on market...shows cpu speed
You may look at info tab on SetCPU, it says alot about your device, CPU (frequencies and features), battery and so on.
And you can have SetCPU widget on homescreen as well, which shows current freq, min and max frequencies of the governor you're using

I'm still stuck at Froyo 2.2 KB5 ROM (Project V with Bali-X) but I want to try a new one GB ROM. Everything seems to be working well there but I can't find information about undervolting possibility on GB kernels. Even tegrak overclock doesn't seems to be working with them.
Pimp My CPU or Voltage Control works well for UV with the Glitch kernel for GB.

First, you need to be running a kernel that supports UV. I'm not sure if any of the Samsung based rom kernels support UV, but if you go a CM7 based rout, glitch v11 is insanely good at UV.
If you go CM7, make sure you Odin back to the froyo bootloaders first, as you wont be able to see your external sdcard.
Also, make sure you read the CM7 dev op carefully and read the CM7 q & a op carefully to know what most of the bugs are before you flash.

it says Max is 1ghz and i can't find how to change the governor.. it could be I never installed a custom kernel.. I unlocked with fast boot and an sbf, does that fix the kernel?
this is the version

You need to install a custom kernal to overclock.
sent from my Atrix via XDA premium
Install Faux's - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1156040
or Edgan's kernel - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1173225
to allow overclocking
stock kernel is max 1ghz. the custom kernels allow you to do 1.1 ghz
Which kernel is better for undervolting? And I have no interest in overclocking. Yet anyways.
Sent from the coolest voided warranty phone ever.
i personally prefer Faux123's kernel, but they both do the job just fine.
yea i concur faux123 for the win!!!!!
beemed up useing an alienv3 s-off, bootloader unlocked!! /overclocked /faux123(thanks)for all the great development on these awsome devises!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
thanks fellas :-D
This is now the kernel of choice:

Working very well for me!
I just flashed faux 's..
I'm really feelin that extra ram, goddamn!
Hi all
I run XXKI3 2.3.5 on my samsung galaxy S2, I am wondering if there is a tried and tested way of Overclocking this at all. I have seen some write-ups that say I need to roll back to 2.3.3 so as to use the overclock essentials with Odin. I am not very much keen on rolling back to 2.3.3 as 2.3.5 is really cool. Any help and advice is welcome
Didnt you try a Custom Kernal?? Stock kernel may be sometimes not support.. Me also had some problems like this on my X10 Mini Pro. I flashed a custom kernel and now Overclocked From 600MHz to 768Mhz. Working smooothly..

I have flashed the stock kernel but when I use galaxy s2 overclocking essentials my phone won't fully reboot so I have reverted back cf-root. XXkI3 just wont work with the stipulated files for overclocking essentials. I really want to overclock my SGS2.
You need to use a custom kernel capable of overclocking..
Lowandb can you link to one so i can download if there is one you may recommend
use tegrak
Cfkernel, villainrom 3.0 and setcpu. Running at 1.6ghz here with zero problems, and a quadrant score of over 4500!
