As much as it sucks, I think you'll have to flash back to a rom that is compatible with backup assistant...get your contacts back and export them to sd card..then go back to vanilla gb and import the lost contacts

Thank you. I might do that or just go on Verizon Website and search my contacts on there to get the ones im missing....It's probably 15 at the most. but thanks for your help
You can download your verizon contacts on a PC, then import into Google and merge duplicates.
Better option would be to just use Google's gmail contact system. Its built-in and then works with any rom/phone you would ever use.

Agreed, always relied on Back Assistant but now don't use it anymore. Sync with Google Contacts is the way to go.

Call me an idiot...but I thought Google sync was obsolete with android, considering most of the devices are powered by Google! ....am I wrong....be nice !!
I will reiterate - Titanium Backup works great for restoring, in my case programs with data like Timeriffic.

You are wrong. Google sync is an android feature. It's one of the benefits to logging in with your gmail account when you setup a new ROM.

I've never been able to get Titanium Backup to backup and restore contacts...
You could just export your contacts to your SD card then import them back after you flash a new ROM. While in people, hit menu then export.
What is the best way to backup contacts now that we can't use the backup /restore option in android 2.3

this had to go to Q&A, but anyways, just install them on sim card and they will sync everytime you reflash the phone or do something else or use titanium backup or any other 3rd party application.
I have all my contacts stored in my gmailaccount and let it sync after I put a new ROM on my phone.
Before I went to the trouble of storing all my contacts in my gmailaccount, I used the backup to .vcf function in Go Contacts app.
+1
I do same as ldeleeuw, just synch it with your google account
Regards
Awesome guys.
How do I do that?!
And will my calendar be synced as well?
Sent from my X10a using XDA App
Yes it will!!
I will recommnend Google sync.. it also helped me many times when I am running out of battery.
Also editing is also powerful in Gmail acct.
Another tool I found was, fjsoft's mobile phone explorer. It will give you many options to customize backup. Google fjsoft and dload. "Mobile Phone Explorer" is free.

On my PC, I imported a vcf-file into my gmailaccount, which I created with GO Contacts. It's is a single vcf-file with mutiple contacts, so importing it is very easy.
To sync it with your phone, you'll need to setup syncronisation somewhere in settings
What about going into settings and pressing the sync button to sync with my gmail account ?
Sent from my X10a using XDA App
sounds like you are already synced, have to checked your contacts page in gmail on a pc?
also you can got Phone book - menu - more - Backup contacts - memory card
I would go for MyBackup as i dont sync often.

I'm using MyPhoneExplorer and I think it is the best back up way. You can sync, archive, export, import your contacts, messages and calendar.
It can save your contacts with pictures. See this page:

just use old backuprestore.apk.....it is working like charm...see my post..

Hi. I'm coming from a stock samsung 2.3.3 rom, I'm all ready to root it and give it a new firmware but will I lose my contacts which are integrated with facebook and all? I backed up a copy of it onto the sd card, but I'm not sure if it keeps the integration.
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA App
provided you have synced with your gmail account, you should keep your contacts. you just log in once you boot up after flashing and your contacts will be refreshed
How do I know if I synced it to my gmail account? Does the backup to sd card function keep the integration with facebook?
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA App
you could also move them to sd card and if they,re on sd csrd, u won't lose them and you would, they still would be in your nandroid backup and you could take them from there with appextracktor

Before you do anything BACKUP BACKUP BACKUP. Use titanium to backup your apps. To find out if your gmail is syncing your contacts go to settings - accounts and sync. You should clearly see if your gmail is syncing your contacts. When you flash a new rom it will ask you to enter your gmail. This will then sync all your contacts to your phone. When you get clockworkmod installed backup a full image of your phone so you wont lose anything. Goodluck!
Thanks for the help guys! Okay gonna see if its syncing but I'm more worried about the facebook integration because I don't want to repeat the tedious process of merging my contacts painstakingly again!

Sorry to bother everyone, but I've been searching the forums for a while now, and I've used some of the really good ROM's that have been designed, however I recently decided to go back to a Stock ROM.
Yet again, like many people I'm sure, I have become bored of the stock ROM and fancy a change.
I've decided to go for the ICS ROM but reached a dilemma.
I don't want to lose everything such as contacts, messages, etc.
I use titanium backup pro, but even that doesn't save them.
I was wondering if there was a way to do this?
Thanks in advance and sorry for babbling on!

Rom as ICS has not yet been released
KIES backups contacts etc .
jje
Okay that confirms I am confused between ROM and Kernal..I think.
& Oh yeah! I didn't even think of using Kies to backup my contacts!
Thanks!

Rom - custom software build for your phone.
Kernel - base software backbone for your phone.
And in terms of flashing a ROM with data still intact, its possible, but it depends on wether or not the ROM wipes your data. Most likely, it will. Now a kernel is easier. As long as it works with the corresponding ROM, you shouldn't have any trouble.

You can do anything with Titanium Backing up to root. Previously with Odin rooting firmware flash
Move contacts to sim card and also remove it when wiping
Sent from my sgs2 running cm9 using xda app
Also, try these two from the market:
- SMS Backup & Restore
- Call Logs Backup & Restore
Worked great for me.

I store all my contacts on my google account, so everytime I switch roms/handsets, they just sync down.
With sms, you can either backup using an sms backup app, or mybackup pro does it. Neither require root.
Or...what I do is have backup to gmail installed, which auto backs up all my sms and mms to relevant sms and mms folders on my gmail account. That way I have them always, I do also use mybackup pro just so they are also in my messages app.
1. Sync contacts to Skype/Googlemail(google-backup)
2. Sync Messages to Titanium backup/pro
3. Anything Else won't get lost as you can sync things back. like Email and Calendars.
If you keep Notes, copy and paste things to Google Docs, to get them backed up.
Your Apps will get wiped but will install back with your Gmail.
Rest is the application Data, that will be Wiped.. After all you want a new start...
Just backup your apps with Titanium backup and restore after the flash
My contacts are synchronized with gmail and on simcard
Calender is synched with gmail
Thanks a lot guys. This has really helped. I think I'll back my contacts up to G-mail as that's my main concern. Messages being backed up would be helpful, but not necessary.
