well which ever rom you are using both stock and cm7 contact already have built in option to import export contacs as vCard files..

GO Contacts is a nice app that does the job and it's free.

CM7 Official... I have contacts synced on Google, but I want to put them in the phone only, and have a backup.

Why don't u export it as a VCard file???

I just found out the option. Hope it works ^^ Thanks everybody

Stock rom supports exporting to sdcard

As soon as I hit add, I get a list asking to save to phone, or my exchange, or my various gmail accounts...
So it don't look to be removed...
VillainROM 1.4 FWIW but I think stock can do it
Or you could try exporting them in .vcf format to your sdcard via the import/export menu in contacts.
Flash new rom, then import the .vcf back.
Edit: I think Litening with no wipe does that too.

this had to go to Q&A, but anyways, just install them on sim card and they will sync everytime you reflash the phone or do something else or use titanium backup or any other 3rd party application.
I have all my contacts stored in my gmailaccount and let it sync after I put a new ROM on my phone.
Before I went to the trouble of storing all my contacts in my gmailaccount, I used the backup to .vcf function in Go Contacts app.
+1
I do same as ldeleeuw, just synch it with your google account
Regards
Awesome guys.
How do I do that?!
And will my calendar be synced as well?

Yes it will!!
I will recommnend Google sync.. it also helped me many times when I am running out of battery.
Also editing is also powerful in Gmail acct.
Another tool I found was, fjsoft's mobile phone explorer. It will give you many options to customize backup. Google fjsoft and dload. "Mobile Phone Explorer" is free.

On my PC, I imported a vcf-file into my gmailaccount, which I created with GO Contacts. It's is a single vcf-file with mutiple contacts, so importing it is very easy.
To sync it with your phone, you'll need to setup syncronisation somewhere in settings
What about going into settings and pressing the sync button to sync with my gmail account ?
Sent from my X10a using XDA App
sounds like you are already synced, have to checked your contacts page in gmail on a pc?
also you can got Phone book - menu - more - Backup contacts - memory card
I would go for MyBackup as i dont sync often.

I'm using MyPhoneExplorer and I think it is the best back up way. You can sync, archive, export, import your contacts, messages and calendar.
It can save your contacts with pictures. See this page:
http://www.se-house.net/pc-programs/myphoneexplorer.html
just use old backuprestore.apk.....it is working like charm...see my post..

Backup & Restore from v2.1 can be installed on v2.3.

As much as it sucks, I think you'll have to flash back to a rom that is compatible with backup assistant...get your contacts back and export them to sd card..then go back to vanilla gb and import the lost contacts

Thank you. I might do that or just go on Verizon Website and search my contacts on there to get the ones im missing....It's probably 15 at the most. but thanks for your help
You can download your verizon contacts on a PC, then import into Google and merge duplicates.
Better option would be to just use Google's gmail contact system. Its built-in and then works with any rom/phone you would ever use.

Agreed, always relied on Back Assistant but now don't use it anymore. Sync with Google Contacts is the way to go.

You cant, sync to google and use google's calendar service.
After searching for a while - found this app
After searching for a while (including this forum) I've just found an app called:
"ICS 2 Calendar"
Unlike many "fat" apps, this one does nothing but addind the ICS to your calendar.

Export contact with full resolution image

Hello to all,
My question is simple. When I export my contacts with built in export procedure of gs3 or with MC backup all is okay.
When I restore this vfc file the images of contact are small and the resolution is really low!
How can I make a good backup with images at full resolution?
Thanks!

Synchronizing with Gmail works fine. Full resolution images are supported in JB. The images used to be downsized in ICS.

No clue about backing up on the phone. But once you sync, you can always restore from Gmail. When you flash a new ROM it first syncs all your contacts and you'll have the full resolution contact pictures, provided you've set good resolution contact pics in the first place when synchronizing. That's what I've been doing for a long time now.

Precisely. Very safe that way, even if the SD card goes tits up and/or internal memory gets buggered.
Once synced, the contacts are always available to you. Even if you lose your phone too (I hope that never happens, though)!!

When you first setup your Gmail account after flashing the ROM, they are synced. Just give it some time to fully download.
