So, imagine this:
You're deep into an application, using it, whatever it might be...say, an email app for example. While reading your email you and a peer are discussing a particular topic...say a fantasy football trade. You are wanting to trade Chad OchoCinco for Donavon McNabb with a fellow player in your league. So you begin to reply, but suddenly you have an ADHD moment. You say to yourself, "I believe I remember ESPN tweeting about McNabb earlier today on how they think he might not play next weeks game. I should check quick." So you hit the home button on your phone, then open up your Twitter app to see what @ESPN said. They report McNabb is injured and will not play next weeks game. So then you open up your browser to see the headlines on ESPN to see whether or not there is a player worth trading for OchoCinco. After about 5 minutes, you return back to your email app to finish the email only to find your phones cache had filled and restarts the app completely and you have lost what you were in the middle of writing.
The solution:
What if we created a new type of notification bar? What if, while not just including power controls and message notifications, we could be relayed even more info? What I'm imaging is this: What if there was a way to include RSS feeds such as Tweets, Facebook notifications, and news headlines into the status bar? That way when you drag it down you can either drag down further, or left and right to access said feeds with the notification bar?
Please include your thoughts and discussions in this feed!
Reminds me of the Samsung Continuum bottom screen.

Great idea! But sadly, the big Steve will put it in the his next iyo-es.
Nvm, we'll cook it ourselves. Plus, our original notification bar has a lot of rooms for improvement. It's nice to have a tweet bar in it, or check in button, with side-scrollable rss. We should make use all the pixel available, minimize the power menu, stack same notification into one category, and if we can, customize all the notification to our hearts content. Push notifications should be doubled their size, and can show on top of any application. It will slide in for a brief moment and then fades away.

Sliding in and then fading away, eh? That sounds kinda like webOS notifications.

Well, sort of. But, being said before, I prefer the iOS5 notification concept. But I'm sure it will require integration with all the apps. Sound pretty much as the rumoured ice-cream sandwich, but nothing is confirmed yet. At least now we can focus on optimizing the current notification bar.

Theoretically, any device running whatever version of Android it's programmed in. What would be nice if Cyanogenmod could it include it alongside their work. *nudge nudge, wink wink*
This would be multitasking in every sense of the word. Nice concept and I hope devs can figure this out.

In a way to save pixels for more places, the notification need not take a whole row but instead just TILES. Imagine when they are put into tiles, we could have 3-4 taking one row, taking much less spaces.
Then we can have multiple tabs as well (like the Sense 2.1 or MIUI GB) where we can put WIDGETS into it, apart from giving us power control toggles and recent apps.
Only issue is, it could be too tedious for single core processor.
I'm thinking an universal MIUI notification bar????

As many are aware the new Max-Sense Manilla Mod for windows devices isint perfect, but there are many things that do give it a nice feel. I thought i would open this thread to help in posting bugs/things that could be better or more intuitive.
Let start guys, if there are some helpful comments in this thread ill be happy to add them to the OP as suggestions. Please post what you would like changed or made better, and keep flaming out of the question.
Personally What I'd like to see added in future updates:
Internet link widgets for the homepages
The ability to have more than one blank widget
Live Facebook widget, kinda like the sense tab
Sync Calender with Facebook events
Would like to see a picture Slideshow widget..
i'd like to see the memory and battery widgets have assignable actions, ex when you touch the memory widget it opens ark switch, taskmanager, clean ram, or a program of your choice, and battery would open the power settings, etc.
i would like to see more favorite people widgets
i would like the option to change the max sense taskbar from just minimized, maximized, or none to the windows default taskbar as well
i would like the backup/restore script that beegee_tokyo created implemented into the menu under max sense settings
i would like to be able to press the whole widget for your notifications to take you to the sense tab not just the icon.
it would be nice if the left soft key in the home screens was easily assignable, some people like have the start menu assigned or an app of choice.
i wish the back hard key did somthing, even if it just sent you to the homescreens instead of actually backing up.
i'm not trying to be negative in any way, i absolutely love max sense and all of the work everyone has put into it, but these are all features i think everyone would appreciate
lastly just somthing that came to mind would be a notes widget
I have not tried it. I am still waiting for the author to get back to me about being able to use it my roms. As soon as i am able to use i will let you know. Thanks

+1 for these, especially the "press the whole widget, not just the icon" one. I though my installation was broken until I figured out that you have to push the icon, not the number (eg. missed calls)
My personal feature request would be the ability to insert a table of quicklinks into one of the three main home screens, rather than only on the home button flick left action.
i.e. To fill-in the empty left screen of my theme here:

I agree...I'd love to have my pictures at my main screen and be able to scroll like favorite contacts.....
Okay i have used every ROm on this planet and so far MAX is the most intuitive yet. Here are a few issues i have come across...
1- when returning from a tab based application there is a pause or slight hesitation where the notification bar return to back to the max sense appearance
2- all max sense ROMS are having the small MMS issues and for some reason the quick fix works and then doesn't and reverts back to the original settings
3-MAJOR battery eating - although i did notice when removing all the tmobile crap and the facebook tab that it was a HUGE success on saving batter...Now after one day of minimal use and testing often i was able to have 80% battery !!
4- I think that the Favs. widget could be smarter...quick sms mms or email buttons should or could be applied
thats all for now im sure I will have more ideas soon....thanks devs for making my windows phone make the iphone look retarded ....Nothing better then to see my buddy who just got the iphone 4 and then is caught staring at my HD2...And i know exactly what he's thinking...what phone is that? Phone envy is a sin i say....haha
well.. when we put a new widget, for example want to put a music player widget.. i put it but I want to choose a specific widget (of music player) to put.
So I want to have the option for me to choose what widget I want to put, and not put one itself that maybe i dont like it
EDIT: Per the suggestions, I downloaded and can confirm it seems pretty amazing. A big learning curve though, doesn't seem intuitive. Working on that.
I Really would like to start using this app, but the permissions seem crazy to me. Everyone's thoughts? Am I just paranoid? The developer seems very legit and know's whats up... fan of XDA too... so, probably nothing, but I am so skeptical when an app needs so much (though, given the power of the app, it sorta makes sense)
This application has access to the following:
Services that cost you money:
directly call phone numbers
Network communication:
full Internet access
Your personal information:
read sensitive log data
Storage:
modify/delete USB storage contents modify/delete SD card contents
System tools:
disable keylock,
retrieve running applications,
reorder running applications,
modify global system settings,
prevent device from sleeping,
display system-level alerts
Your accounts:
discover known accounts
Hardware controls:
control vibrator
Network communication:
view network state,
view Wi-Fi state
System tools:
automatically start at boot,
expand/collapse status bar,
set preferred applications,
read sync settings
NOW... with all that said, look at the beauty you can create:

Hmm.. quick widget access?
I think you are just being paranoid. It's obviously a widely used app and as you can see a wonderful app to have.
If this was an unknown dev I would say do some research.

I have been using it for a week or so now. I love having my fancy widget with weather on my lock screen but I get more use out of the Pandora Widget. control my music without having to unlock my phone when I pull it out of my pocket. added a slider for some things and its awesome. check out my layout i think it came out great personally.
How do I use the theme?

I've had it for a while but stopped using it, it would often default to system lockscreen and it runs in bg using resources, but it is pretty.PS. why are my screenies teh suck?
Don't blame me, blame my keyboard's autocorrection algorithm.

Cool! Thanks for posting this. I'm just not sure exactly how to use apply these themes. What exactly do we do with the .zips?
I want this one - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=11817549&postcount=69
1. go the app menu and open widget locker (will not work from an already locked state )
2. Long press on open space
3. Select "Custom Slider"
4. click the drop down box to select a different slider from those installed or select "get themes" and download them directly.
5. customize the slider before you select "save"
EDIT: http://widgetlocker.teslacoilsw.com/themes-doc/installing-themes/ <-- how to install
Nvm we need 2.0 version lol
Alright, downloaded it... it looks like there is a little bit of a learning curve on this app. I will try reading the guides already out there and see if I can give a readers digest version later.
I've been using it for a couple of weeks now and love it. I got it specifically for keeping the audiogalaxy app on the locker as to have quicker access to pause or stop music. I have also grown fond of the rotary lock as well.
I've been using Widget Locker for months and I've never had a problem. I've just discovered the theming aspect of it so I'm excited to get into that. I'm wanting to theme the rotary and the normal android tabs like the lockscreens in Bionix 1.3, hopefully it turns out well! If someone's already done this, let me know where to find it
Here is my first attempt.....
Not perfect.
I had this in the Xoom thread because it was Honeycomb-only, initially, but now it supports all Android tablets:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1010597
Broken link?
fixed link, thanks!
The UI is greatly improved, few things I would suggest in which you might already be changing or know about: the right justification on the sent out bubble, customizable colors on bubbles, customizable background on conversation side, theme support , a sliding divider that allows us to hide most of the contacts side and open up more screen space for the conversation side, so when you touch the divider you drag to the left stopping to where it still shows the contact pictures so we can scroll and pick another conversation if need. Also, I like how it shows if it was synced, sent or received but i get a lot of doubles on the sent and synced when should only show one.

thanks, i am looking into this issue. you can find more info and updates in the linked thread from the OP
First of all, I absolutely love this app. It's so easy to use yet powerful and the variety is just incredible. I remember a few years ago when I still had a jailbroken iPhone 3GS, it took me a whole afternoon just to make my phone look like one of these themes, now it's just a press of a button.
I just want to voice a little suggestion for the designers out there and if anyone disagrees with me, please send it right back. I think one of the coolest things about Android compared to iOS is the widgets and one widget that many people use often around me is the calendar. Unfortunately, even though there are so many amazing themes made for this app, very few of them actually dedicate enough space to a calendar widget (and often not at all).
Every theme though seems to dedicate a whole page to a music app. From my experience, this isn't really necessary since when a song is playing, i can see it in the notifications shade or when I want to start a new session to listen to music, I probably want to go into the app and choose which song to start with.
So I'm just making a suggestion to include more calendar widgets in future themes because at the moment, there's not enough themes with them but there are too many themes with music widgets. What do you guys think?
or better yet, make a theme yourself and include whatever you want =)

I plan to eventually but I don't have the time right now so I thought I'd make a suggestion for those who do.
A good way to start finding your work-life balance is to challenge yourself to identify one behavior that you can change. What makes you happiest? What stresses you out the most? Determine your answers, then focus on a few areas in which you can improve, whether it's socializing more at work or planning out your day better. Soon you’ll be living happier, too!

Thanks for the self-help tip. It's funny how a suggestion for future themes lead to a lesson on life management! I guess I better keep this in mind the next time I write an app review in the Google Play Store.

well that sorted my life out !!!! seriously how is this helping anyone !!!!!
I understand what you mean that many do try and have more music apps etc and as you mention are not always useful,I am guilty of this myself in some respects, but when I create a style I create them because I want to not because they may or not become popular,as this doesn't concern me.It is all down to personal taste I suppose.
I maybe give this a try in a future theme,to be honest it is a good suggestion in my opinion

Yeah, right now it is the shades of green the only really good theme, if you want events on the home screen. I also feel that all the themes go in a direction of fun and design, and there are only very few, that at least add basic organizer options.
More work related themes would be welcome
I have to second the request for a calendar widget in more of the themes.
I LOVE themer and it's my default launcher now. I use the agenda view of the calendar all the time which gives me the option to scroll through my appointments and meeting times. Unfortunately, there are only a handful of themes that present this option, such as 'Series', 'Silver lining', 'Coordinate' and 'Violet'.
I usually just end up inserting an agenda widget in one of the unused whitespaces in the screen.
I would make my own themes, but I don't have a creative bone in my body. I couldn't hope to come up with anything half as nice as what you guys do on a regular basis.
Thank you for all your hard work. I will certainly be paying for this launcher when it comes out of beta. :good:

Moved to this wonderful phone recently from iPhone and love it,however, I do miss a few things like making a window pop up in front of me when I have a message in notification bar. You can have counters instead of the circle by going to Settings -> Notifications -> More Notification Settings and changing the method.
The popup is not possible by default in Android (would find that extremely annoying personally) but there are two options:
- Find a 3rd party app in the Play Store (search notification popup)
- Use the in-built popup feature for some apps like WhatsApp.

Fun fact. The pop up notifications are old Android features from 2 - 3 years ago that iOS adopted. So when you say iPhone type notifications they're actually from older versions of Android. ? They are now mostly reserved for messaging apps. You can get it working for messages and I'm sure you can find aps for the rest of the stuff. I have to admit that EMUI is not ideal for notifications.
