[Q] Xperia x10 Not Fully-unlocked? - XPERIA X10 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello.. Newbie here..
Here's the thing.. I have an NTT-Docomo branded Xperia x10 or SO-01B..
I've read that for you to be able to unlock it, you have to debrand it first to a generic firmware.. The phone had 2.1 update-1 initially..
I was able to update it with a pre-rooted 2.3 stock ROM.. I booted it up and asked for an unlock PIN..
And since I wanted to use it with a different SIM aside from NTT-Docomo, I took it to a store the next day to have it unlocked.. I waited like 2 hours then the technician told me that he couldn't unlock it because he couldn't find the needed drivers in unlocking it.. I think he was using SETool that time..
I left the shop.. and when I checked the phone, much to my surprise, it had signal bars on it.. It was only on for a few seconds then it disappeared.. I inserted another working SIM because I got curious if he was able to unlock it without him realizing..
I was expecting the phone to ask for an unlock PIN, but it didn't.. Same thing happened.. It had full signal bars for like 5 mins, but those disappeared..
I checked the phone's Service Menu and here's the info I got..
[ ] Network 5
[ ] Network Subset 5
[ ] Service Provider 5
[ ] Corporate 5
[ ] SIM 0
It doesn't have a cross mark unlike before for Network..
What could be the problem with this phone?
Thanks in advanced..

Try flashing to a Generic 2.1 stock ROM first. Check if it can hold signals for a longer period.
And did u also update to the required baseband and kernel for 2.3.3?

My x10 does the same thing sometimes, I just discard it and it works, I suggest trying different basebands/stock roms, for more information please read the newbie threads in the Q&A section and the several guides.

Manually enter your 3g settings or flash the rom

Yes, I flashed it with Baseband 71 which is required for the pre-rooted 2.3.3 ..

What is it that you discard?
Anyway, thanks all for suggesting to have it flashed again with another ROM.. I'll try doing that..
BTW, yesterday I tried installing Wolfbreak's 2.3 .. I checked the SIM lock info under Service Menu..
And the previous
[ ] Network 5
[ ] Network Subset 5
[ ] Service Provider 5
[ ] Corporate 5
[ ] SIM 0
became like this
[? Network
]
[? Network Subset
]
[? Service Provider
]
[? Corporate
]
[? SIM
]
and under Configuration of Service Menu,
I can see
Working band/s :
Unknown
I know that there should be something like GSM 850 Mhz, GSM 900 Mhz etc under it.. but those were gone now.. And I'm pretty sure that kernel and baseband were installed..

Hello.. I'm sorry for reviving this old thread.. But I think it's better than creating a new one..
Anyway, is it possible that the phone is partially unlocked? Because it doesn't ask for an unlock code anymore and it can detect signals but can't connect to the network..
And can I revert the changes made to this phone? Like have the phone asks for an unlock code again.. Thanks

My advice is to repair it with pccompanion, then start again

dont mess with service menu. you will get you sim card locked permenanently. coz service menu is for telecom operators.

I downgraded it again to 2.1 update-1.. Will relocking the bootloader to NTT-Docomo make the phone ask for an unlock code when an unsupported sim is inserted?

Not necassarily, only certain sim unlock methods wil have that side effect.
If you used s1tool to simunlock you can still unlock the bootloader.
Read the_lasers original thread on unlocking the bootloader for the correct advice

yes I've have unlocked bootloader actually that sim issue started just after unlocking the bootloader , baseband is .71 I'm on stock right nw & yes my sim is unlocked I'm beginning to think that issue is a hardware thing :S
did you resolve problem witch the signal ??
no i didnt :S
Did you flash the A1 kernel before installing this rom.
You unlocked your bootloader with the wrong tool or you unlocked your X10 from another unlocking service than setool , next time read all info before unlocking your bootloader
You can unlock your X10 with setool then you will have the right certificates and it will work
or
you can relock it with the tool the_laser posted in this thread but ofc you won't be able to flash some ROM's
I resolve this problem

I wonder many ppl are facing this same problem after unlocking their bootloader. I reverted to 2.1 fw, unlocked it and restored 2.3 and flashed .71 baseband. Its working fine.

Careful buddy u gonna mess ur phone up. U have no reason to downgrade kernel now flashtool can do it all on 2.3.3. If u unlocked successfully then it will still be unlocked unless u relock it yourself (flashing new Rom/changing kernel etc will not relock it). Refer to various guides on bl unlock but be careful. That sounds like a recipe for disaster pal. (if u need help pm me but it sleep time for me now so it'll b tomoz)

Bootloader

I'm trying to solve a problem, but I realize that I need some help, and I think that my question could be someone's question too.
Is it possible to unlock the bootloader with the smartphone locked to Vodafone or other service provider? If not, how can I unlock the smartphone?
Yes, you can. My sim-card is also locked, i suggest you unlock bootloader from newest flashtool cuz it's easier.
Or use the guide by 9Lucas5 (use semc.bat)
I tried to use the 9Lucas5 guide but I've got no results, probably because I have emuled Windows on my MAC OS .
But I haven't tried with this new version of the flashtool yet. Do I need any firmware?

I have x10i too, but it didn't work. Tomorrow I will try again.
I have many times unlocked bootloader, perfectly know this procedure and has noticed, that sometimes it is possible to reach result, only by preliminary flashing of official 2.1 ROM. Certainly, thus it is not more necessary to do "kernel downgrade"

Use flashtool method not kernel up/down method it slightly old and flashtool is a one button method which doesn't require changing kernel in any way (from gb)

That's not what it does. It means that if u use a custom kernel it will boot into that straight away, saving time, rather than booting up semc kernel then custom one (hence why se logo disappears on boot)

Right, so first: Have you unlocked your bootloader?
Second: Is your phone sim-unlocked? (In other words, are you able to use a sim card from another carrier in your phone?)
Third: If you haven't gotten your x10 sim-unlocked you're going to have to relock your bootloader.
Here is the tool to relock your bootloader.
Fourth: Assuming the above is all true, you need to sim-unlock your phone. You can either contact your cell carrier (if you bought the phone from them), or use one of the paid services online. I don't know which service can do it because I went with the cell carrier route
Hope I helped! If I did, don't forget to hit the 'thanks' button

[Q] Sony Xperia Sola Help Bootloader Unlock Problem

I was just wondering whether (in my current condition) bootloader unlock allowed = no
should be bootloader unlock allowed = yes ?
I bought my sola from target (locked to vodafone AU) - but I already owned a telstra SIM, so I went to voda and got a SIM unlock code for my phone, and managed to successfully unlock my phone and use my telstra SIM, the thing is - shouldn't this mean that bootloader unlock allowed = yes ?
From my understanding and research, {if} SIM lock = no; {then} bootloader unlock allowed {should be} = yes; is this true ?
<Service menu screenshots attached>
I asked Vodafone and they gave me nothing useful, and then I asked sony and they reckoned it is not unlockable, but from what i have read, it should be ?
Their (SONY'S) Reply:
Unfortunately if the Bootloader is listed as not being unlockable this can not be changed. This is a choice of the network the handset is designed for and is not tied into any form of SIM or network lock.
Also something else that doesn't make sense is that Sony provided me with a bootloader unlock key even though they know it is not unlockable: ...
You have requested an unlock boot loader key from unlockbootloader.sonymobile.com.
Your unlock boot loader key is: 8***************
------ YOU DON'T NEED TO FINISH READING THE REST (ONLY IF YOU NEED MORE INFO), OTHERWISE PLEASE REPLY and thank you soo much in advance :fingers-crossed::good:------
{What I Sent Them}:
I unlocked the phone successfully from Vodafone using the unlock code they supplied to me to be able to use it with any carrier, but my Bootloader Unlock Status Allowed = No. Shouldn't it be yes, as I have no SIM lock now?

Firstly
It took me a long time to read this m tired now
Secondly
Sim lock has nothing to do wid bootloader unlock
Sony gave u an unlock key
Bt remember u have to put only 14digits of ur imei to get a key
So u can say that its not DEVICE specific ( there are probabilities that key will work on 10 sony devices wid same 1st 14digits of imei) ( not necessarily true)
Its only a matter of luck that u got a handset wid unlock bootloader
