[Q] WIFI error message - HTC EVO 3D

WIFI was working fine. but randomly it has stopped working. Saying "Error" where it should be "connected" is there any settings i can mess with? or default reset?

Are you on a custom rom / kernel? I had this error shortly after flashing one of the senseless roms a few days ago. As soon as i turned on WIFI it said ERROR. Think i was rectified in a later update since then....

Wifi error
Same problem I'm on custom rom and wifi brings up error.... I didn't change kernel

Logcat usually shows a bit more detail than the WiFi screen in Settings. If you're able to grab the logcat details around when you turn on WiFi, it might show more helpful output which can make troubleshooting easier.
The majority of WiFi error issues posted on this forum relate to the mismatch between kernel and modules. Wouldn't hurt to reload the kernel and its associated module to eliminate that as a possibility.
Hope that helps!

wifi
its the kernal you will have to change it and your wifi will work again

I've been having the same problem since the beginning but nobody has really been able to figure out what's wrong. I turn on WiFi and then after a couple seconds I see an error that says "Unable to scan for networks.", and then WiFi shuts down.
^Same problem here. Wifi not working.
If you guys won't tell us what version you are using and if you got the batterie fix installed etc, then we won't be able to help you. So be more specific so we can help.

I installed this version of android, but also get the message:
Unable to search for networks
If you use the batterie fix you need to install the zimage AND the module. Some people (including me ) seem to forget that.
Tried it already, but still doesn't work.
"Unable to scan for networks."
well..
well what i ment was that my WIFI wont work... i got the latest version of this tread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=627997 build on 1 July-2010..with launcher pro.

Same here been have this problem from ever since i've try android, rhod 210 cant get wifi to work for the life of me.
Someone please halp.
I dont think there is a way to get wifi and battery working at the same time in GSM phones...but I could be wrong, can someone confirm?
For what its worth, I had the same problem with wifi not working. But I didn't have my sim card in yet. not having the sim card was my problem. if that's your problem you might get connected to wifi after trying my option which made everything work smoothly.
Anyone having any luck yet with this?

the newest rootfs fixes this.
i got the new build 16/6
well i got the new build 16/6 and still no WIFI working... do i have to update before i run the xandroid?
New user here, I'm also having the exact same issue.
Phone: HTC TIlt 2 (gsm)
windows Mobile 6.5 Professional
CE OS 5.2.21849(Build: 21849.5.0.63)
CPU: Qualcomm 7201A
Rom Version: 1.59.502.3(67150)WWE
Radio Version: 4.48.25.20
-every time wifi is enabled it displays the scanning icon for a few seconds and than pops up a message saying unable to scan for networks. The message will repeat two or three more times and than wifi shuts off.
I've tried the all of the 6/16 builds (2.0.1 Eclair, 2.1 AOSP, Sense etc.) as well as the 6/06 and several of the older builds Even the 3/01 builds when wifi was first working. In fact I also tried adding the device's MAC to the startup.txt with those builds, and the current ones. I've tried battery fix free builds, so I dont think that is the issue.
I ran both a .cab install with the Project Android launcher, and the manual install booting with haret.exe.
I updated to the latest rootfs, zimage, and initrd. And I deleted my data.img after every update
I'm still using the stock rom and radio. Although I have seen other users with the same specs who have working wifi. I'd like to avoid flashing a new rom and radio to the phone if possible, but I suppose it will be my next step if i can't find any other fix.
Any thoughts on what I'm doing wrong? Did i miss something stupid?

What kind of security is your wifi modem is having? is it wps smthng lk that? Did you tried with different wifi hotspots?
it doesnt have any security, i disable it
The thing is that it doesn even recognize that there is a wifi signal, it just turn off automatically before without detecting any wifi signal, i tried at work and the same thing happened
(sorry if i misspelled a lot of words jejeje)
try to flash another ROM and see if it works...
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA premium app
i restored the backup i made with cwm and everything works fine now (touch x-power rom), and if i reinstall check rom the wifi goes out again, it seems it deletes something that leaves me with no wifi mac adress (i searched in about the phone, turning on and of wifi and every time it said not available)
Bizarre...
im getting the same thing, did anyone find a solution?
had this same exact issue.. it is a hardware problem.. so changing rom, kernel or fw wont help you at all... only solution is going to samsung service center.. my problem was solved in 3 days..so many s2 users have this problem..
take a look at these threads...

There are a lot of problems with KK5 and wifi. If you update Busybox it borks it completely. I can't connect to my 5Ghz home wifi but the 2.4 Ghz works fine. I also can't connect to some wifi that uses WEP. All works fine with previous builds. I have seen threads that suggest replacing the wpa_suplicant file from Android 2.3.5 fixes the problem.

My problem was unable to turn on wifi, wifi stuck at the stage of turning on.... and forever like that cant off and on.
Most probably is hardware problem coz i have tried many ways to solve including flash back to stock rom, change modem, change kernel and etc.
good luck for you, hope you are not the same problem with me.

Wifi is kernel-related.
So, try to flash another kernel to test.
Or if you don't want to flash another kernel, check in menu Settings > wifi > (menu button) Advanced > Use static ip.
Try to enabled and connect.
Then disable and try to connect.
If that does not help, try to wipe cache (and Dalvik cache) in recovery mode.
Press Volume UP + Home + Power buttons as long as the recovery menu appears, then select wipe cache and reboot the phone.
P.S.: Check the configuration of your wifi router / WLAN access point, that is allows your phone to connect.
ok so i did everything again just to be sure and... my mistake! the problem starts not after the rom flashing but after cf root! have i done something wrong maybe?
I would say look for a custom rom that is already pre-rooted so then it should have all bugs to do with wifi removed.
I used to have a problem with the wifi myself which caused problems when turning it into a wireless hot spot and then wouldn't turn back off again.
But now im on the Custom Rom I am having no problems with wifi at all.
Hope this helps.
Galaxy S2 Running Paranoid v1.2a 4.0.4
Actually, I would say try a different kernel. CF-root is a kernel. Wifi drivers are in the kernel. Ergo... ?
Wifi is kernel related issue
try changing your kernel
you mite wanna chk dis

may have something to do with the root. my phone had this issues once. just flash your phone with the correct rom and do NOT root it again as it may have something to do with the root itself. or just something got messed up during the rooting process

i has the same problem and make a reinstall with odin, and every thing is working nice although a did some test with a firm of argentina (I9100AROLP4) and this one are perfect.:good:
Just root your device and change your kernel can save your problem.I hope so.
Known problem; http://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=28036. Rooting, installing Fardjad's WiFix, setting a country code (GB in my case) and increasing /proc/sys/vm/min_free_kbytes from 3606 to 16384 fixed it for me. None of that should be necessary on the stock firmware of a consumer appliance, though.
EDIT: Actually, if WiFi connects, it might not be this issue after all. It is a problem in many (all?) official ICS 4.0.3, though. If by "internet is still not working" you mean the stock browser force closes before you can do anything with it, you'll need to go into settings->applications->all->[browser name] and clear cache and data. You'll lose your bookmarks, history and cache, so back those up first if you want to keep them.
Hi , I updated to this same build version today (form the first post), and I did notice that the wifi is working, however the download arrow of the wifi icon on the notification bar keeps blinking all the time. Is this normal?

Are you on about the up and down arrows on the Wifi icon? This is normal this just shows the up arrow as uploading and the down arrow as downloading data. All part of the ICS UI.
Piece of advice root your phone install custom kernel and Rom. You will not go back to stock ever again!!!
Thx for the reply. Yes those are the arrows I'm refereing to, but the thing that seems odd is that whenever the wifi is connected the down arrow keeps blinking regardless if I'm using anything (apps or browsing) on the internet or not.
As for the custom roms/root, I will get to those yet.. First I'll try rooting and then I might move to a custom rom. I actually got very used to the stock rom, but I know once I start changing it will be a one way road.. lol
regards
I had a similar problem when I updated to ICS 4.0.3. I did a factory reset on my router which sorted it out.
Sent from my GT-I9100 using xda app-developers app
In my case it doesn't seem to be draining more battery, its just the blinking that I found curious...
Not sure the router has anything to do with it but I will keep this in mind for possible fixes...
thx

Your Wifi always looks for the router hence the down arrow downloading data which is very minimal. Your router gives you an IP address which lets you have internet. Your wifi checks for internet even if you are not using it. This is why its best to turn wifi off if you are not using it as it does drain your battery. Custom kernels have sorted this out when your phone "sleeps" it doesnt wake up even if your wifi is on.
Root first, Backup backup backup second, then install a custom kernel (this is the most important part of the phone) and then a custom rom. Seriously stock hasn't nothing on Mod. Think about it.....

[Q] Wifi cannot go past "turning on" status - Galaxy Grand Quattro

I think I've messed up again. Whenever I try to turn my wifi on, it gets stuck at the "turning on" status and then crashes after a couple of minutes. I have no error messages. It just closes after some time. The last thing I remember I did regarding wifi was to recover a stored password using Wifi Password Recovery App. Then this happened.
My phone is rooted and I have cwm. I've tried basic troubleshooting like power cycling, deleting wpa supplicant file (found in a post somewhere), tried turning wifi on using allsahare play, untweaking internet, but they just didn't work.
I'm ready to flash a stock ROM. But I'm just curious if you have any other suggestions before I do it because I've read some posts saying that reflashing didn't work as well.
Please help XDA Developers!
I guess no one has the solution yet. But I have discovered something, and I hope this would help. I found the file, init.qcom.wifi.sh, using root browser. I executed it and I got a script output stating an error. WI-FI chip ID is not specified. I have attached screenshots so you may as well check them out. Also, I noticed the files under date\misc\wifi are all 0.00 B which i think means they are empty. Please help experts.

First of all you've got to flash any custom rom available in order to use wifi again !!!
Now regarding this issue u've just mentioned I'll try to investigate it further !!!

Try reverting back to stock temporarely with Odin, this happens in my Note 3 and used to do the same in my S2, but only with the proximity sensor. The idea is the same, replace all settings to stock and flash whatever you want after (boot the stock though and test wifi just in case).
Why this works i have no idea, but it saved my arse loads of times. I can guess some internal devices might have flags configured which could be chip based rather then ROM/emmc related, but that is only my supposition.
