X10 battery won't charge fully - XPERIA X10 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I left my phone charging during the night(it had been shut off) and when I started it, I noticed that it only charged to 70% and that it was really hot! Its the second time it does this after the gb update!
Thanks for the help!

did u install the custom rom or the generic one ???

try wipe battery status using xrecovery

hi, i am on stock 2.3 rom. it seems that i only have that issue when i charge with turned off phone. when i pull the charger and put it back in it charges normally till the led turns green

It does charge 100% but as soon as it reaches 100% it starts charging backwards(discharge) if you leave the charger on the phone

I think your cpu speed is draining your battery, I say that because of the heat you talked about and the speed of the drain. Try using wolfs 3.9 stable update and battery calibration app, free from market, to charge battery to 100%-4002mv.
Hope it helps. Worked for me.

But it would not be good for the battery as people say whenever u plug in the charger then dnt plug off till the battery is 100% charged.

I have encountered this problem too. I turned off live wallpaper and fency widget and everything worked fine. You could turn them on after full charged. I find live wallpaper really drained battery fast.
Thanks for the suggestion. I dnt use live wallpapers so it is not a problem. But for widgets You mean to say that before charging I should remove the widgets and then add them back after every charge. It would be hectic. Or there is a way to 'turn off' the widgets.

I wouldn't worry about that on Lipo or Li-ion batteries... in fact its good for the first 10 -15 charge cycles not to charge them to full (it makes the battery last longer.)
If it were an old Nimh or Nicad then yes.. best to make it flat and charge to 100% not the case with new batteries, feel free to top them up when ever you like and un plug them befor they get to 100% (only rule with Lipos and li-ions is not to run them completely flat.. they don't like that)
Kiwi

my phone never get more than 91% battery charge

need help with this problen
flash into xrecovery and wipe battery stats!
Also, calibrate your battery. Fully charge, remove battery, reinstall battery, fully charge again. Repeat 2-3 times until says 100%.
Stock charges to around 88%.

Read this thread: [GUIDE] X10 Battery Calibration
My battery is also causing trouble
I put the phone in charger is loading the phone up to 88 then stops
And when I take out and put in the charger my phone charges up to 100
While the charger still connected is again removed the battery to 88
I have to use the directory that you brought?
Sorry for my english lol
Yeah calibrating your battery almost always will help. Check the market if you haven't yet. There are a couple Apps that will help do it.

Ok thnx
dont use your phone while in charge and then see the status of ur battery.. if u use ur phone while charging, it never charges up fully..
Pls hit a thanks if u r satisfied
I experience this when I leave my X10 charging all night long (turned on). It seems it charges up to 100% and then keeps draining it, despite the connected charger. Have you ever tried offline charging?
I want to charge it when it is turned off. But I do not know if he filled it to the end. Because I do not know what percentage has
That there is no sign of a fully charged battery

Calibrate it using battery calibration from market, do wipe battery cache before you calibrate.
Fully discharge ur phone, Wipe ur battery cache, charge ur phone, let it alone till full, then calibrate it, use it till fully discharge, then fully charge again.

I think maybe you need to either re-calibrate battery...
or
Clear battery stats, then calibrate...
or
Re-flash, clear battery stats, then calibrate.
Good luck

I believe your phone problem is related to your battery and I think its gone bad. But before going for a replacement, try to see if any of your pals have X10 and try to replace their phone battery with your's.
Another thing is, if your phone is roooted (Which I believe yes), then reboot into xrecovery, and try to wipe the battery stats. After that once you reboot, see if your phone battery percent shows 88%. If yes, then wait for a few minutes, I would say atleast 30 minutes and see if the battery level is dropping down fast or its staying idle. If its dropping down, then charge it to 100 and then wipe the battery stats again and charge it again (repeat it for like 3 times max).
If its staying idle, then I guess your battery is perfectly normal, try reflashing the ROM... Good luck
Uh..
My phone always turned off when I touch/slide the battery (not took off of it)
Do I need to change the battery ?
Because it is already loosen?
Buy a new battery
Okay then
Thank you

Turning off overnight while on charge

Is there anyway to stop my S3 from turning off overnight while on charge? I use my phone all day so the battery is around 10%(ish) when I go to bed so I put it on charge and about 50% of the time my phone turns it's self off over night. I need my phone to stay on as I use it for an alarm. Is there any way to stop this? Is my S3 faulty?

Is it running JB? If so, it might be running the battery down for that last 10% faster than it can charge. If you are on ICS, it should charge just fine. When it turns itself off, does it continue to charge?

It's on ICS (WanamLite Rom) and Siyah Kernel. It appears to continue to charge as the screen just has a full green battery in the middle of the screen and when you turn it on the battery is 100%.

At least it is still charging. I don't use WanamLite, so I don't know if it has any custom low power setttings or any reason it should function like that. Sorry I can't be more helpful.
It definitively should not power off.
Try flashing to stock and check if the issue still occurs.
It might be the battery overheating and killing power which _should_ only happen when there is a hardware defect.
Of course it could also be a problem wrth some app or a unknown bug in Wanamlite, hence why you should f/ash stock to test.

Xperia P Battery

Does anybody know why there's a boost in battery % when the phone reboots?
Is it a software bug or a battery problem?
Sent from my LT22i using xda premium
mine does that to with 1.54 software...
Even worst, last night I've left my phone charging and when I checked it this morning it had 1% lol wtf?... it stayed 12hours plugged in... rebooted it and it started charging again.
Going back to stock rom from the carrier... or .544 file.

Nonsence , i started using the stock kernel and i got AMAZING battery life , it surpasses double the sustainability ...
*note the spikes that go up is not me charging , sometimes when i look at the phone for example is 25 % and when i wake it up after an hour or so its like 30 % , idk why this happens but it happend like 3-4 times
Well... Don't know why then. ..
Maybe i have a defective phone or battery.
Anyway, i just flashed again the .544 firmware, updated through ota to .54 , and didn't root this time just to check things out.
Either i have a software issue or defective phone/phone charger.
I noticed someone telling that the phone should charge in about one hour and mine doesn't do that. The two times i charged it, it took a lot longer. In almost two hours it reached about 70%.. so there is/was something definitely wrong.
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda app-developers app

its about calibration, you use it, it drains more, so it shows % of battery remaining like using, turn sleep mode for a while, battery will calibrate and show you more % because phone doesnt drain much

I understand your point of view but that does not make any sense, since no other brand does that type of reading.
I'm sure it is a software glitch or malfunction that causes.
The remaining battery % is the battery you have left. I've never heard of a % if you use it and % if it's idle, and IMHO doesn't make sense.
If anyone could confirm this, would be great.
tks
I also experience a boost of 1-2% when I leave the phone idle for hours..But the flickering values during reboot-isnt that an inefficient usage of the battery by the OS? Can it b fixed? It sucks to reboot the phone often to increase my battery...But it only works around 2-3 times in a single charge session..after that it drops during reboot
Sent from my LT22i using xda premium
casca-the phone charging fully in an hour is simply bogus...It takes an extra 1-2 hrs after hitting 100% to reach the "Battery Full" state..

Yeah mate, true. Mine takes about 50 minutes to reach 80% and another 60 minutes to reach 100%.
From what i have read on a couple of reviews the Xperia P has quick charge mode until the battery reaches about 80%
The Battery can b made more efficient..the extended standby mode is a life saver,..but what's the point of not using the phone?...wish the "extra charge" during reboot gets fixed when jb releases..What's the maximum backup for u all? I once got around 50 hrs,via frequent reboots...

Android 4.0.4 may have this problem
So, there's no fix right?
i have xperia p and sometimes when i put it on charger for example when its down to 3% it starts to charge but not raising percentage but when i reboot it shows real status.so its charged but somehow percentage bugged
where are you from and what file did you flash? generic world or central europe?
normal problem
I think it's a normal "problem",
while rebooting it's clearing the battery-cache.
and it's not only on your Xperia P, it's on iPhone too

Same here ics is so bugged..what does it take for Sony to give a clean version...JB might b even worse...
it was actually weirder than that guys... the phone was loosing battery % with the charger on!
for instance, if I pluged the phone at 40% at night, in the morning i would have 1% of battery... so, not only was the phone not showing the charge going up, it was actually showing it going down! lol
anyway, I think it has been solved and I the problem was I've flashed the generic world version instead of central europe one.
tks for the posts.
