Where is everybody finding the Kies 2.0 software? I'm looking at the downloads page for the Tab and all I see are a couple of different versions for Mac and PC, and all of them are version 1.
You are right. Kies does not work on my new Mac mini with 10.7

I want to root my phone but everything i have seen makes me use the computer, does that make me change the baseband? because there is a chace that i want to put the original rom and i eard that it is not possible if u change the baseband.... and if it is possible i'd like to install, via recouvery... I've noticed that I'm a little bit of topic butt, since this is about a root it made sense to ask for erverything related. Now the most importante question how can i root my device?

I have gimgerbread
Use super one click..rooting your phone has nothing todo with baseband..
1-Root phone
2-Install custom recovery
3-backup current stock rom
4-Download and flash custom rom
5-profit
EDIT: gingerbreak apk. Might work, but im not for sure.

Read more about Basebands.
You are using gingerbread.. it means you are already using NEW Baseband.
You Don't need to change any Baseband. You Don't need any BB fixes.

I was with 4.1.1 official firmware and today I flashed 4.1.2 for Germany through Odin.I've made 2 factory resets before and after the install. After that I started setting up my phone and I noticed that Wi-Fi is not working properly. And by that I mean that Wi-Fi is only connecting after I restart my phone otherwise it's obtaining IP adress but the phone disables it.I tried changing the channels on my router, tried restarting it and I even removed my security but it didn't work.My wi-fi connects only when I restart my phone. If I turn off the Wi-Fi I cannot connect untill I restart the phone again.I've read about a 100 posts about Wi-Fi problems but none of them worked. If anyone here can help me Please I would be grateful.
Flash the firmware again .

Ok I flashed 4.1.1 for Poland and updated through the Wifi and the effect was the same ... When phone started with 4.1.2 the Wi-fi could not connect because of poor connection to my router.

Just use Towelroot. It's an app that you install and doesn't require a PC, Mac, or anything else.

Visit the website with your phone and tap the lambda in the middle of the screen out well download an apk.
Install the app then run it and tap "make it rain"
After your phone reboots you should have root.
You might need to go to the play store and install supersu but I can't remember if it installs it automatically or not.

The problem I'm having is doing the upgrade to 4.4. I'm already rooted. I'm sorry my question was unclear!

Oh ok sorry. The only way to do it in a mac is heimdall or jodin.
You might could do it running Windows via parallels but I have been told that is very risky to use Odin over a virtual machine.
I would find a friend or relative with a Windows machine or just use the only two options for Mac.

I tried to use Heimdall but it won't open the tar.md5 file. I'm downloading Java 8 so maybe Jodin will work now. Surprisingly, all my friends just use their smart phones as a computer. I'm the only tech nerd out of the bunch
Thanks again
