Atrix Brick? - Atrix 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Ok here is my situation:
I was running Gingerblur 3.5, and decided I wanted to go to AlienROM. I unlocked the phone successfully using RSDLite and fastboot. I was still able to boot the phone after this process.
I attempted flashing Alien using the older CWM that wasn't designed for unlocked phones (didn't realize that there were different versions at the time) and the phone wouldn't boot. After research, I found that there was indeed a newer version of CWM that was necessary for flashing unlocked phones. I attempted flashing this using moto-fastboot, but got a stormgr partition: SOS error when trying to do so. After more research, I believe this is because I didn't delete the recovery_install.sh file before attempting to flash the new CWM. I attempted to go back to Gingerblur so I could remove the recovery_install.sh file using root explorer, but now Gingerblur won't boot either.
I sense that if I can get rid of the recovery_install.sh file somehow, I will be able to flash the newer CWM, and then be able to successfully install Alien.
My question is, how would I go about deleting this file if the phone won't boot? Is it possible to do this via the CLI on my computer? I don't have my *nix netbook with me at the moment, so I'm stuck using tools that are available only on Windows (I mean I could throw up a VM, but I'd rather not if I can avoid it).
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

So u can't get into fastboot or get it to give you the RSDLite prompt when u turn the phone on? Because if so, I know how I personally would fix it. I would use RSDLite to flash a stock version of gingerbread, then delete the file needed to install the new CWM.

bionic forever root and RSDlite issue...

I did the forever root and updated to .893 no problem. i decided however to flash back to stock so i could flash the new Liberty RC1 rom. When using oneclick fastboot restore my phone was restored back to .886 however i am unable to acheive root now. i noticed during the fastboot restore it failed to flash boot.img. and now petes motorola root tools fails on step 3 every time. im guessing this is because of the mod in the data file that prevented the .893 update from breaking root. trying to restore using RSDlite with the full FXZ restore file but i fails immediately every time. this is nothing urgent since my phone is working just fine, i just want my root access back!!!! any advice or solutions would be greatly appreciated and be careful with the forever root. before flashing anything after doing it go back and change the file to modified back to its original or you will most likely lose any permission to the boot.img or whatever the hell boot file it is.
this is the same problem im having.. it sucks i cant acheive anything now .. anyone know how to get root back?
Just found this last night....I was in the same boat, fixed mine.

HELP Need stock sbf bricked even with cwm recv

so i had the photon all workin great did few mods, somewhere along the lines i flashed the morpho zip mod coming from the vibrant which was supposed a partial port and not ready for use, then i got force closes like mad, nothin worked, so i went to cwm recovery and for some reason my nandroid for stock backup, says md5sum mismatch
so now I had no choice but to install a rom which i dont want, is there a stock, pure stock rom with root anything close to stock, I am rooted I am unlocked and I do have cwm recovery, but I wanted to flash sbf via rsdlite, but of course i cant find the correct link or sbf file
i used the 1mb bootloader file to unlock the device , but that doesnt apparentally have the goods to redo the whole O.S
Any help would be gratefull for links to sbf that actually are up and working..
Also would it still be normal for sbf to fail after flash which supposedly means it worked cause thats what it did for the unlock flash, it failed but really worked, i guess thats what its supposed to say.
Here is a list of quite a few(maybe all?) of the stock SBF files and dl links. And as far as it showing it failed, mine also did that and i know while unlocking its supposed to say that, but as far as other stock SBF files im not sure.
I flashed this http://www.filefactory.com/file/cfbc5d2/n/update_1024_working_data_zip
And lost all root privelages why is that
I am unlocked and was rooted on djbliss oneclick exploit after flashing this update lost root but superuser is on device

You flashed back to a stock SBF, correct? You will lose root and it will relock your bootloader, flashing to a stock SBF. Flashing a SBF should also wipe out all apps, including superuser.

[Q] Latest HTC Software Update Won't Install

I have the sprint EVO3D. I unlocked it and its rooted, but at the moment I'm still running the stock image. I keep trying to install the latest OTA update from HTC (the one that removes CarrierIQ) but it keeps failing to install...no message, no error, essentially the phone just reboots when I tell it to install the update.
Does it have something to do with CWM being flashed for recovery? I'd like to have CarrierIQ removed. Is there a way around this that anyone knows of?
I had CM7 and MIUI installed at one point, but I wanted the 3D camera that I don't get with either of those.

If you're running into issues applying an OTA while on a rooted ROM, my first suggestion would be to suggest you grab a rooted stock ROM which already contains the OTA.
The steps to installing an OTA are fairly simple, but if done improperly whether due to lack of following directions or any other myraid of reasons, COULD damage the device or at least set the user back a few hours.
In order to process an OTA with 100% certainity, the stock recovery should be loaded. Manufacturers ARE able to add and use edify scripting language which could only be interperted and executed probably by a stock recovery image as they are not required to release the source code to their recovery image.
With that said and no mention of htc official unlock or revolutionary unlock, the process I would take on my own personal EVO 3D which would be unlocked with revolutionary is as follows:
1) Flash stock recovery image from most recent RUU via Flash Image GUI while in normal android mode.
2) Accept OTA and allow to fully process.
3) Flash custom recovery back using a PG86IMG.zip file.
4) Boot into custom recovery and via adb shell chmod 4755 /system/bin/su.
5) Reboot and everything should be set.
Another word of caution will be at step 2 to understand this will remove root access by removing the setuid flag on the /system/bin/su binary. This will be restored by step 4.
These steps might have to be tailored/changed for an HTC unlock device. Probably step 3 can be replaced by the fastboot flash recovery c:\recovery.img command.
Hope that helps!
Yes, it is because of CWM. You need the stock recovery to update officially.
Where would I download the stock recovery? I tried googling for it, but wasn't getting any straight answer that I could understand...

There you go
Just download a stock rooted rom zip and flash it. Much easier, and much less hassle than trying to go back to the stock recovery.
Thanks everyone, got stock recovery flashed and update is installed...now to get my apps reinstalled

How to upgrade my Razr ???

Hiya. I have a GSM Razr Droid. I rooted it and things were all cool. Then I wanted to upgrade it through the official motocast app, but after downloading the upgrade, the phone would restart and then it would go to the clockwork screen, after which the upgrade would fail. I unrooted the phone, thinking that might solve the problem, but it didnt. Now I cant re-root the phone, as when I try to run the root file, it says something like package already extracted. So basically. my problems are :
1. how can i officially upgrade my phone (taking take the clockwork problem into account)
2. is there any way to root my phone again
Thanks guys

1. flash oficial version of razor (eternity)
2. root your android normaly
3. install clockworkmod touch razor (the best)
4. create backups of your oficial system
5. install any rom for clockworkmod
6. my system is 2.3.6 LATAM [ROM] clockworkmod
7. good luck
Do you remember what system your phone originally came with? Download a copy of RSDLite and the fastboot file according to your region. Then boot the phone into AP/Fastboot mode and restore it. After that root it again using the appropriate exploit method (motofail since it works for all versions) and then install clockwork and continue on with your phone.
This method will guarantee that you're fully back to stock out of the box state.
edit*
if you can get into the phone and use it, just download a copy of SuperOneClick. Also download the motofail exploit and put it in the exploits subfolder. Then when you try to root using SuperOneClick, on the right side, select motofail and let it do its thing. You should gain root back.

[Q] Need help rooting/unlocking bootloader for Verizon Note 2

Hopefully someone can help me. So I rooted my device using the Casual method. Tried many times. It still errored out but when I looked on my phone SU was installed. The root worked but when I tried to go into recovery, it took me to Android recovery not TWRP. So being ignorant, I decided to install TWRP through the Goo Manager and when I tried to go into recovery, I got the "system software not authorized by vzw" error. Could only get into download mode. Decided to flash back to stock using Odin. Process went fine but it basically put my phone back to where it was without root (same apps, settings, etc.). I guess it didn't do a complete flash? So I decided to run casual again to re root/unlock bootloader. Tried it multiple times on win7 64bit computer. Even tried it on a 32bit VM. Came up with this error. Someone please help!
