[Q] Need help rooting/unlocking bootloader for Verizon Note 2 - Verizon Samsung Galaxy Note II

Hopefully someone can help me. So I rooted my device using the Casual method. Tried many times. It still errored out but when I looked on my phone SU was installed. The root worked but when I tried to go into recovery, it took me to Android recovery not TWRP. So being ignorant, I decided to install TWRP through the Goo Manager and when I tried to go into recovery, I got the "system software not authorized by vzw" error. Could only get into download mode. Decided to flash back to stock using Odin. Process went fine but it basically put my phone back to where it was without root (same apps, settings, etc.). I guess it didn't do a complete flash? So I decided to run casual again to re root/unlock bootloader. Tried it multiple times on win7 64bit computer. Even tried it on a 32bit VM. Came up with this error. Someone please help!

[Q] Failing to update, reset

Hi all, I originally rooted my phone using this post several months ag http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2380325
I'm still fairly new to the dealings of root, and have found that I only used it to have access to a couple of cool apps that required root and at that rate I don't even use any more. That being said, I finally accepted the most recent update being okay that I would likely loose my root access. The update kept failing, I assumed because of the root. I backed up my personal data, and performed a factory reset from the phone. The phone still has superuser from the reset and still fails to update. Could someone help me return my phone to fully stock configuration? Thanks!

Find out what odin is. Then..
Google "odin emergency tar (your build number here)" or something to that effect.
If you don't know your build number then you have some more research to do. Good luck.
I'd recommend using the Verizon update assistant. Much easier, but takes about half an hour to do:
1) Connect phone to PC using USB cord
2) When prompted for what action to take when this device is connected, select Verizon update assistant. Installation will take a few minutes.
3) Start the update assistant and confirm that you want to update the phone. The update will take a few minutes.
When the update is complete, you should have the most current update (MK2), and no root access. Should you need root again, try Saferoot - it's quick and easy:

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction guys, I'll do some more research into both and report back soon.
Help! I've researched odin, downloaded and attempted to flash the stock image. Odin failed. My phone as of now is stuck in the downloading screen.

You need to flash the same stock image as what was previously on your phone.
If you don't know what version you were on previously, flash MJ7 or MK2.

need help rooting

hey,
so my mum just bought a desire 601. Before, I had given her my old rooted phone with all my customizations that she has now grown accustomed to, so she wants me to root her new phone and make it look exactly the same.
When she gave it to me to root earlier today, it was brand new. I unlocked the bootloader, and flashed the custom recovery (I went with Philz), but I can't seem to get root. I flashed the latest 2.40 from chainfire's site, but I keep getting the "No binary installed" error. The zip always flashes successfully. Root checker says I have no root.
I just want to keep the ROM stock since its my mom's phone. I showed her insertcoin running on my M7, but she likes sense 5.5, and insertcoin only provides sense 6. So I just want to root the stock ROM and move on.
EDIT: hey, is there an RUU anywhere for this phone? because I can't seem to backup with either philz or twrp, just says cant mount cache and system partitions... wanna be extra careful not to mess anything up
EDIT: Been messing with this all day, no response from anyone here on XDA, went ahead and installed insertcoin. Failed. tried again. success. no idea why. STILL don't have root. Tried superSU and superUser with full wipes. WTF. help?
EDIT: well, thanks for your help XDA, but I managed to finally get it. found some obscure program for windows called Kingo root, and it worked first run. I never looked at windows utilities, always just rooted manually, but whatever, its done now.

Noob2TheExtreme Note Edge SM-N915W8 has no operating system

So earlier today I had some time on my hands and decided to try and root my Rogers Note Edge phone. I failed miserably and now my phone does not seem to have an operating system and continuously restarts. I tried to restore it back to its factory settings, via Odin and Factory but with no success. Can anyone help me?
Not without more details.
What build number of the software were you on?
Which method to root did you use?
What else did you do to it (just rooting should not remove the operating system)?
What build number of the software did you try to reload with Odin?
Did the Odin flash work or did it fail with an error of some type?
i used everything in this guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/note-edge/general/easy-steps-stock-odin-n915tuvu1anjl-sm-t2943993
-Odin3 v3.07
-twrp v2.8.6
odin failed and then passed twrp, on reboot my phone died. once charged it kept rebooting over and over. I can still get into download and recovery mode again but now twrp says i have no os and I also noticed while it charges it says "kernel is not seandroid enforcing", "set warranty bit:kernel"
You said that you used everything in that guide, but you made no mention of trying to load a rom. That's the next step... If you have no OS, you've got 2 choices. A rom or reload stock firmware via Odin.
Thanks for the support. I made it back to my stock os through smart switch, finally! But Im no longer rooted and Knox is still 0x1. I plan on trying again, should i use the same guide? Just wondering because it seems more based for American carriers , and I'm in Canada.
That guide is for Tmobile version, not yours. That's why it wasn't working right. I'm not aware of a method to reset the Knox counter. You can just install TWRP and use that to install SuperSU from Chainfire for root access.
Well if I can get root tonight I'll let ya know if triangleaway works for Knox reset. Had it recommended from a friend, guess you can get it off the play store.

Moto G3 recovery

Hi, All..
About to the end of my rope. Moto G3 Xt 1540 over a year old out of warranty.
Originally came with 5.1 but because I was involved in soak test, I had to up to 6.0 before I knew some of the problems it would cause.
I rooted and then unrooted and the recovery problem started. I have tried everything I could to get it into recovery mode.
Now I just rooted it again with Kingroot and it shows that it came up fine, but still only the no command screen.
I have reset many times including unticking save and restore..nothing.
I can't get twrp to install but SU is there and have re-loaded and tried adb multiple times to fastboot...no help.
My ultimate goal is to flash the stock 6.0 rom that I have loaded all into the adb directory..still no luck.
I would sure appreciate some help...I can do whatever necessary to get there as I already have another phone so nothing to save.
Thanks in advance..

No Command Error on Nexus 5X, even in recovery mode

I used Wugfresh' root installer before and it worked like a charm. You can't get any OTA's with it though. Since I wanted Android 7, I wanted to unroot, install the OTA and reroot using Wugfresh' client. I already did this before when I wanted to upgrade to Android 6. Then everything went well and I was done in an hour.
This time however, I'm stuck. When it needed to reboot after succesfully installing Android 7.1.1, I got set to the No Command screen. After some googling I found out that you had to go to the bootloader first, and then go to Recovery. I got that far, but now I have no clue on what to do.
Rebooting from there doesn't work (obviously). It seems logical to me that I have to install TWRP, but the zip file is not there anymore to install it. Is there a way to still get this zip file on my phone while in recovery mode, and is this the solution to my problem? I also found the format option in TWRP. Does that get rid of all the TWRP stuff and bring me back to complete stock, so I can go back to rooting everything again? I'd be happy to do so, since right now I'm sitting with nothing but a dead Android.
Thank you so much for your help in advance!
