I have used stock, froyo and Gingerbread Roms I found few advantages in some stock applications so I want to request those
Stock Messaging application (it has more clear and larger view optimised for MDPI)
These requests are for custom gingerbread Roms
Stock or X10 Contacts (due to facebook/timescape integration, although GB contacts is better but has smaller picture size and no facebook/timescape integration)
Stock Camera + Album application (stock camera has better Picture quality, Album has one advantage not available in Gallery - if we view picture of higher resolution >8 Mp e.g 14 Mp in Gallery it will not fully zoom with clarity while stock Album zooms it flawlessly)
Stock x10 mini Timercape (Although its very difficult to port but still a request)
Working ports of timescape and contacts from x10 are already available but not work in gingerbread Roms

Would be nice if anyone could at least modify the X10 camera app for better effects in photos and maybe better videos (720p ) i have installed it but camera isn't recognized (different chip?).

I wonder if is there a simple (layout and use) apk for the camera that works with Andread 2.2.1 RC3.2 room (it doesnt give me the camera bugs the cyanogenmood used to but I don't like the LG camera that comes in it. I'm looking for something more like the 2.1 stock camera.

Don't know if it fits your needs but i use 'sleek camera' - it only contains camera function but autodetects the cameras features and make you able to use/choose them. It's really simple, lightweight and doesn't function overkill.

i suggest you to try the camera360 lite app.. it has the simple camera mode and other nice effects
camera 360 and camera advance...both are better than stock camera i guess
Is there a way to remove the stock camera and gallery, and replace them with the camera and gallery that are in Cyanogen, or another light weight camera / gallery combo? I'm currently running Alien build 3, and hate this damn camera and gallery app. I've got roughly 900 photos split up across 10 or so folders, and the gallery doesn't sort based on folders. The camera app is bulky, takes up too much of the screen and makes it hard to use the screen as a viewfinder.
I don't know a way to change camera app. you have to keep stock gallery to access it from the camera app.
to get the CM gallery app, just extract it from a CM .zip and install it on your device. you can't use it from the camera app but you can for everything else.

I'm using AOSP 4.0.3 ICS BETA1 with hotfix 3 and
Camera FIX Neo on my Neo, and I'm very satisfied.
But I can't work out how to take widescreen photos
with the camera. In camera settings you can only set
the picture size (8MP, 5MP), there is no aspect or wide
option.
But when recording videos the aspect is 16:9
Is there a way to set the camera in this rom to take
widescreen photos?
If not, is there a way to use a different camera apk?

Sorry bro if you want wide screen photos try a different camera app from market. as i dont think that ics camera takes widescreen photos :/
Seems that the sony ericsson default camera app just crops the image when in widescreen mode. thanks for your help!
Is there a APK mod of the ICS Samsung camera app? to remove those limitations of ''can't use flash on low battery'' and ''can't take photo in extreme low battery''.
I don't want the ICS Stock Camera app, the photos are better on Samsung camera app than the stock one... tested.
I Find only for the Galaxy Note
