Edit:
Recovery won't work you have to copy the package
Download the package and extract the bootanimation from \system\media and copy it to SD card
Open Root Explorer copy bootanimation.zip from SD card and go to \system\media and replace the existing one. Make sure you give proper permission.
thanks dude been looking around for some different boot animations
is there any way to apply these boot animations without some form of recovery? I'm on a rooted 2.3.3 with a locked bootloader.

thanks for the heads up... i really wish the arc had shutdown animations too (or is there?)...
Mine doesnt work even with permissions ---rwxr-x and also doesnt work but flashing zip. Any ideas?
The phone does boot I just got no animation
If I copy the original back it works just fine.

Try with a different Bootanimation. I actually I gave full permission i.e. check on all the permissions
I can confirm this works on a rooted xperia arc bootloader locked.
Thank you shyam

How to install it:
With Root Explorer:
1. Rename your boot animation to bootanimation
2. Put it on your SD card
3. Open Root Explorer and copy bootanimation.zip to /system/media. This will replace the existing boot animation
4. Reboot your phone
With ADB:
1. Make sure you have downloaded android sdk
2. Put android sdk in C:\
3. Set the directory of command prompt to C:\android-sdk-windows\platform-tools. Click here for a video tutorial.
4. Rename your boot animation to bootanimation and put it in C:\android-sdk-windows\platform-tools
5. Open cmd
6. Type in order:
-adb remount
-adb push bootanimation.zip /system/media/bootanimation.zip
-adb reboot

You can replace it with another boot animation. Since you are in a boot loop, go to recovery mode, mount the system partition, and install your desired boot animation. Here are some boot animations made by me: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=970615

Can it be used with X10 mini?
yeahh it can be
THX, it works nice
How weird, I tried this method twice after installing MiniCMPro 7 Rom, and it bricked the phone two times. It gets stucked at Sony Ericsson screen, I have to remove battery in order to restore the phone
To me it's always easier to complete things with simple copy/paste actions in RootExplorer. In this case there are only two fonts that needs to be copied to system/fonts folder.
It's Roboto and Roboto-Bold. Just rename them into DroidSans and DroidSans-Bold, and then paste them into system/fonts folder (replacing the stock ones). Set rw-r-r permisions, reboot, and that's it.
I use Font Changer.

When I've done this for a lot of fonts, when I reboot, I cant ever get back in, I have to end up reflashing as if I damged a system file, it just does endless booting loops. Never tried doing just one or two at a time though...
Guys.....i always tried the boot animation from the UOT kitchen but after flashing the zip file , all the icons , battery mods and everything i customized changes except the boot animation...you must also have faced the same problem
i have a solution to the boot animation to make it work...the steps are
1) download the customised UOT kitchen file (u must select a boot animation while modding the online UOT kitchen)
2) with winrar open the UOT's zip file
3)browse to the system/media of the zip file
4) in the media folder there is a zip file named as sanim.zip, extract the sanim.zip file to your computer and rename it as bootanimation.zip
5)now paste that bootanimaton.zip file on your sd card, and using root explorer(the system sholud be mounted as r/w)...browse to the system/media folder and paste that bootanimation.zip file...it will ask to replace then press yes replace it....
6)now long press on the zip file you paste and change the permissions to
{

}
7) restart the phone and flash that UOT zip through recovery , if you only want
the bootanimation you can skip the recovery flashing step of the UOT zip file....after restart
you sill see your custom boot animation(TESTED BY ME ) working 100%
ill attach a zip file of bootanimation of heratbeat enjoy it directlty by replacing it as from step 5
View attachment bootanimation.zip
Thanks I was looking how to change boot animation.

Hi everyone, today I'm going to share with you the Cyanogenmod9 boot animation which I have modded to my needs and I thought I'd share it with everyone.
At first I was about to render the After Effects project file into a movie and then split it up into frames and all that until I realised that they actually share downloadable versions of the boot animation.
So basically all I did here was increase the loops on the second part to make it not start over so that it looks the same like in the real Cyanogenmod9 boot.
Here are 2 screenies:
{

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",

}
I've got a video aswell but it is watermarked to a blog and people here will probably complain.
Instructions (For Custom ROMs which are custom bootanimation ready):
1. Transfer the bootanimation.zip file to your SD card.
2. Use any Root Browser app and copy the bootanimation.zip and then go to directory /system/media and replace your old one with this one.
3. Reboot and enjoy the animation.
Instructions (For Stock ROM users):
1. Download the Files.zip and extract it, you will get 2 files.
2. Use any Root Browser app to transfer the 2 files from your SD card to the directory /system/bin
3. After you have done that, transfer the bootanimation.zip file to directory /system/media as mentioned above.
4. Reboot and enjoy custom boot animations.
The files are attached below.
Thanks to http://cyanogenmod.com for the animation.
Feel free to press thanks if you want.
I will not be liable for any damages you cause to your phone while doing this procedure, so be careful!
Nice share my thanks comes after test.
GREEEEEEEEEETZ!!!
Thanks, let me know if you like it if you feel like testing.
hmmm
the same bootanimation from bazzrom 2.2...
------------------------
iplaygalaxyy for android
I've never even heard of that name before. I used the animation files from the official cyanogenmod site and increased the loop counts of second part so that animation doesn't start over until the phone is at the homescreen

You can make it faster easily. But the animation will end earlier and you'll have a blank screen. I can loop it if you want i.e. once it ends it will play again until boot is completed.

PS. I tried this on my xperia T2 ultra dual, but instead of going via the file explorer method I flashed it directly from recovery after renaming... the bootanimation played well enough but it wont go past "cyclops" and go into boot loop... why do you think that is ?
Actually, my phone boot in only 25 or 30 sec. And your bootanimation is 1 min. So how can I make it faster ?
Because, for me, 1 min to boot is too long.
Thanks.
But, great work
Nice!
just perfect working fine
Thanks
