I'mn old iphone user
this process puts my phone in a boot animation loop even after booting. I know that my phone is on because i received a message, i know i received one because i heard the notification tone. How can i remove that bootanimation.zip from the /system/media folder where i put it in.. Again i cant see anything on my screen other than the animation..

You can replace it with another boot animation. Since you are in a boot loop, go to recovery mode, mount the system partition, and install your desired boot animation. Here are some boot animations made by me: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=970615
Good bootanimation. Congratulation!

First things first. This is a animation created by TeaAndBiscuits on Youtube found here, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WlfhkldQulg I just converted it into a boot animation.
Please read. I am not responsible for you not reading instructions that may result in a dead phone. Unlikely, but people do amazing things.
This is built for screen 480x800. If your is different you can edit the desc.txt to your screen size. There are 2 versions, portrait and landscape. Each of those versions have a non flashable and a flashable to system/media or data/local depending on your device. I have also included a android_audio.mp3 if your rom supports sound during the boot animation. I did not put it in any of the flashables, you will have to move it to your system/media of data/local folders respectively.

Set permissions like this using Root Explorer or something similar ie. File Expert, Total Commander
How to get audio to work
Download this file (bootsnd.sh) and put it on the root of your sd card. Open Terminal and type this:
SU [hit enter]
cd /sdcard [hit enter]
sh bootsnd.sh [hit enter]
You will just get the # when its done. Flash the boot animation or move the bootanimation.zip and android_audio.zip to the system/media folder and next time you reboot you will have sound.

Edit:
Recovery won't work you have to copy the package
Download the package and extract the bootanimation from \system\media and copy it to SD card
Open Root Explorer copy bootanimation.zip from SD card and go to \system\media and replace the existing one. Make sure you give proper permission.
thanks dude been looking around for some different boot animations
is there any way to apply these boot animations without some form of recovery? I'm on a rooted 2.3.3 with a locked bootloader.

Try with a different Bootanimation. I actually I gave full permission i.e. check on all the permissions
I can confirm this works on a rooted xperia arc bootloader locked.
Thank you shyam
Hi
Premissions should be
Rw-
R--
R--
Hope that helps

Hi everyone, today I'm going to share with you the Cyanogenmod9 boot animation which I have modded to my needs and I thought I'd share it with everyone.
At first I was about to render the After Effects project file into a movie and then split it up into frames and all that until I realised that they actually share downloadable versions of the boot animation.
So basically all I did here was increase the loops on the second part to make it not start over so that it looks the same like in the real Cyanogenmod9 boot.
Here are 2 screenies:
{

"lightbox_next": "Next",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
I've got a video aswell but it is watermarked to a blog and people here will probably complain.
Instructions (For Custom ROMs which are custom bootanimation ready):
1. Transfer the bootanimation.zip file to your SD card.
2. Use any Root Browser app and copy the bootanimation.zip and then go to directory /system/media and replace your old one with this one.
3. Reboot and enjoy the animation.
Instructions (For Stock ROM users):
1. Download the Files.zip and extract it, you will get 2 files.
2. Use any Root Browser app to transfer the 2 files from your SD card to the directory /system/bin
3. After you have done that, transfer the bootanimation.zip file to directory /system/media as mentioned above.
4. Reboot and enjoy custom boot animations.
The files are attached below.
Thanks to http://cyanogenmod.com for the animation.
Feel free to press thanks if you want.
I will not be liable for any damages you cause to your phone while doing this procedure, so be careful!
Nice share my thanks comes after test.
GREEEEEEEEEETZ!!!
Thanks, let me know if you like it if you feel like testing.
hmmm
the same bootanimation from bazzrom 2.2...

iplaygalaxyy for android
I've never even heard of that name before. I used the animation files from the official cyanogenmod site and increased the loop counts of second part so that animation doesn't start over until the phone is at the homescreen

Hi Guys
I had an idea and make it works, in a simple and elegant way. I created a logo bootloader thay perfectly matches the boot animation's Android M for Moto X 2014.
I took to make a flasheable file .zip with the logo, boot animation and erase the boot animation which is usually in /data/local/moodle

Look in /data/local/moodle If there is a bootanimation.zip there, it will override the one in /system/media (/data/local/moodle is where Moto puts the seasonal boot animations.)

I found that the entire boot animation was not showing on my xt1096 and have created a new bootanimation.zip based on your work with a corrected desc.txt that will display the complete animation. I broke them up into 2 zips, one flashes just the boot logo and the other flashes just the boot animation.
Thanks for finding/creating these files!
