[Q] Widget Picture Dimensions - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi
I will try my best to explain this
I would like to create an image in Photoshop and place this image above a bunch of game icons in my phone.
See below.

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
As you can see, i left an area blank and this is where my picture will go. It's an image i've created that simply says "Games".
I have 2 problems with this.
1. When i try placing the picture, the dimensions come out really weird... as you know when you put a picture in your background you have to decide how you want the picture sitting with the dimension box.
confused? like this...
and yes, i have tried those sizes lol.
For those of you that are fimiliar with the AccuWeather widget when you first purchased the phone, i want the image to come out exactly like that... a perfect horizontol picture.
2. My second problem is, i can't seem to put pictures on my phone that have transperancy? the transperant area always comes out black.
Thank you, highly appreciate any help i can get.

glossy and translucent, like these
numbers?
Is there some easy way? I'm trying to use Gimp and I am apparently too stupid to figure it out.
Would also like to know how to do this......
make the fill 0% but keep your opacity at 100%...numbers are just embossed so do that as well...save it as a png image file
Edit: that's what you would do in Photoshop not sure if you can do that in GIMP but if you can...AWESOME!!!
thanks man ......
Using what you said, I was able to make this.
Then I was able to overlay it on another clock face to make this.
Kinda okay. I still have to figure out this whole glossy look thing.
Anyway, thanks for the help!
I'm not exactly sure how I did it but now I've got it looking like this.
I think that's as good as it's going to get.

[Q] Can anyone identify the programs used in this picture?

I came across this picture and a few thing about it really baffle me. For example, I do not understand how it is possible to have clock and other such information at the bottom. In addition, there seems to be a 'page-flicking' tool at the bottom, which I suppose it means it is some kind of new UI/Launcher, but I am not sure which. Finally, I really like the weather program implemented, but I do not know its name.
Any help would be really appreciated.

Edit Pulldown Toggle Bar?

ive been loving many of the 2.3 roms that have been coming out. but one thing i miss from most of the 2.2 roms was that the pull down toggle icons rarely had the words beneath them. what do i have to edit to remove the words and leave just the icons?
currently running jetpack 3.0 with the jetpack ui...modified to my tastes (all black). just need to get rid of the words on the toggle pull down. if anyone can show me the way!!!
really...no help?
so i assume this a mystery to everybody apparently?

have a look at uot kitchen, might be able to do it there
you need to replace two images in the drawable-hdpi folder of the twframework. I attached the images I used, just use a photo editor to color them however you want them
Edit: here's pics of before and after when I figured it out.

Dock Icon in PNG shows blank

Hello,
I'm really really new in terms of customization but of course I'd like to learn and try.
I have Launcher Pro installed and I wanted to change the dock.
When I click on the App Drawer Icon and select the png file I want to replace it with, it's just totally blank
Here is the icon I want to put (the 2nd one): thecustomandroid (dot) com /2011/10/docks-by-desylvia/
In fact I'm trying to get this overall look but with no tutorial it's not easy and I don't want theme packages, I prefer personal customization with different widgets etc. And I like that dock but I just can't find it anywhere. I've read it's from Gomorrah.
Anyway, I just need help with the PNG icon, I'll do some additional research for the rest .

Oh and by the way this lock screen and the homescreen are from Desylvia.
Thanks in advance for your help.

Background problem.

I have been trying to get my background picture just right, for a little over 3 hours. But it always wants to crop the picture. Even when I make the picture the exact res of the phone. (800x480, landscape)... It crops a SIGNIFICANT portion out!

}
That is the picture I want.
That is the picture I get... Why? And how do I fix that? Btw. It crops EVERY picture. Even the ones in the DSC Wallpapers folder.
Bump
lol... you dont realize that wallpaper usually are stretch (centered and filled) to accommodate for the moving of homescreen from one to another?
how bout go to the launcher and search for disable wallpaper scrolling and turn it on...
another way is that you just need to make the wallpaper a bit bigger... like 1024x600, something like that...
The actual wallpaper size is 960x854. Keep in mind you will lose a little bit from the status bar and from the tiled wallpaper.
