[Q] High battery consumption - Vibrant Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

i have a very high battery consumption with any vibrant rom...
i don't understand...
1 hour in stand-by (only mobile data active)
vibrant: 7-8% of battery
nexus s: 1-2%
why?!
p.s.
100/1000 ondemand for all

What about with the stock kernel settings (no set cpu)?

bullet kernel now... (juwe port rom)

You might have something running in the background. Try to use Advance Task Killer. If it does not help, maybe you should flash another rom like Revolution Rom by Ali.

Also set a Profile in SetCPU when Screen Off do 400/100 smartass. I think it helps.

i will try...however the governor was conservative not ondemand...
thx to all

Might try calibrating battery. If so battery may be shot from improper care (i.e. leaving phone in hot car.)

Might have bad battery cuz not even CM7 has such a high drain what rom wat kernel

Check how old your battery is. You might need to replace it. Or you can just ODIN back to stock and see how long you last on stock ROM and kernel and see if your battery lasts.

Don't use a setcpu profile if your using the smartass governer. it can cause sleep of death

[Q] Issues with my battery draining

I am running bionix v 1.3.1 with overstock 2.2.1 and voodoo with the KA7 modem. I can not figure out why my battery drains so fast. When I am not doing anything it drains at about 2% every 15-30mins. Thats with only data enabled. When I am using it, it just drains super fast. My battery condition is good so I do not understand. Can someone help me plzzzz.....

Are you overclocking with the overstock kernel? If so...make sure you have the governor set to "conservative" or "on demand". Conservative usually saves more battery though. Also..check your task manager...make sure you arent running 100 programs at once.
Make sure your screen brightness is low. Sounds like you have either a battery that needs replaced or you have unknown processes running.
maybe going back to Overstock 1.5 without overclock would be an option for you.
My screen is set to automatic. I use advance task killer to make sure everthing is closed. It tells me my batt is 100%. I havent had the phone but a couple of months. I have it overclocked set to on demand.

Happens to me all the time. You need to reconditioned the battery and then it ll fix itself after couple of cycles.

How do I do that? Just let it drain all the way? It does that everyday

"smoothest" kernel with best battery life?

Am using bali now and it gives great battery life, but it is not as smooth as say... overstock. Is there any kernel which gives a balance between the two?
ones gotta give
Not sure what you're seeing but smoothness you're talking about probably has more to do with the rom than the kernel. If you flashed both kernels I'm sure you wouldn't see much difference between the two without the boot screen.

Did you try the overstock UV kernel? You can find it here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=967861
It is the Overstock 1.5.2 UV download, it is designed to save battery life. You can also try SUPER_DragonMODz ULP, another battery saving kernel, here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1049894
I literally just got onto the bullet kernel from Bi-Winning, and it has the smoothest i've noticed, but its only been a hour or two since i got on this rom with the kernel so... idk i cant say about battery right now.
I have to say, be careful with SUPER_DragonMODz kernel... For me it almost burned up my phone. Phone was just sitting on the table when I sense the burn The phone was hot as hell...
All dragonmodz kernels are great I ulp has amazing battery life, oc and normal both give me great battery life too with no overheat for me, wayyy less then bullet (has much higher voltage settings) just don't use any setcpu profiles (except for 400/100 screen off) and I suggest conservative govener

[Q] Battery Draining

How to extended the battery life time and minimize it's draining during your daily usage of the SGS2 ?
Also is. Over clocking. Increases the battery draining ?
To extend your battery life, stop using your phone and/or decrease the screen brightness when using it.
Overclocking will probably increase the battery drain if your phone is using the overclocked frequencies.
To increase your battery life turn your phone off every time you are not using it, turn it on when you want to use it, that will get you good battery life.
Honestly search this forum there are a handful of threads that give guides and tutorials on how to maintain battery life not that difficult to search my friend.

Use it as a paperweight and that should be good enough..Or just keep having the charger in it while you are at home
anyway lame jokes aside. get yourself a decent kernel. in your case speedmod. set the governor of your choice and let the magic begin......seriously for you that kernel should be fine. just do not get to excited when the magic begins and you start kissing your phone though just do not tell us here
Hope that helps mate

Speedmod is fine on default. No need to change governor unless you want to try conservative but I recommend to leave speedmod as is.

ohh u mean scaling of the cpu
oh yeh i never change that :L
its on ondemand now on setcpu
To be honest you don't need to use any of those type of application you are better off just removing them and leaving the kernel on complete stock.

Governors are for scaling cpu as you just said. As Nikz said if you are using speedmod no point using any cpu apps as the kernel does all the work for you

And if the speed goes down does it means that voltage goes down as well?
Since i have rooted my sg3 and instal custom room and got setcpu i have set some profiles but seems like my battery drain a way quicker then when it was unrooted. Any advise please

You will need a kernel that supports Undervolting and then you can do it in SETCPU
i suggest Siyah's kernel. im OC'd to 1.6mhz and UV'd at -100mV. my phone is stable

No, only users can wreck a phone
Overclocking your S3 above 1800mhz will SURELY damage your hardware, the most stable and recommended clock speed when overclocked is 1600mhz,1800mhz and above are highly experimental.

1,8Ghz should be possible i guess. The Note2 has the same cpu and is standard clocked to 1,6 Ghz.

Not true, i`am using Voltage Control Extreme right now and set the max clockspeed to 1 Ghz on a stock kernel in ARHD 9.5.0 and saved these settings as init.d script at boot and it works, even after reboots it`s still 1 Ghz.

and my last question will be if its normal that phone doesn't use same cpu speed all the time.it changes speed under different conditions.i guess it would be wastage of battery for example run phone on 1.4 ghz on locked screen

A friend of mine downloaded SetCPu. She did something and now the phone is just dead. No screen, no vibration. Heck it doesnt even go in recovery. Either the battery is totally dead or we have a very expensive paper weight here.

Maybe, she overclocked CPU too much for long time and burn out the CPU... in which case only solution is replace motherboard

It's normal. If you're on the faux's intellidemand governor, it changes the frequency based on the load you have on the phone. It does this to save the battery. I highly recommend you to leave it as is, because if you lock it at a high frequency when the phone is not being used, it can drain the battery like crazy.
