Linking calendar items address to google maps - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
I have upgraded from a sony ericsson x10 to the galaxy s 2 and love it, the only thing I'm having problems with is not being able to click our touch on the address in calendar items and then being able to then navigate to that address with out typing it onto navigation. I used this function on my x10 every day and now really miss it
Does any one have any suggestions or can some one fix it with some sort of a patch for stock rooted s2's?

Accessing hotmail through browser problem

Hello
I can't seem to access my hotmail account through my browser...when i put in the address i end up with a blank screen and if the address area there is a locked sign...i have tried everything i know like clearing the cache and cookies but no joy. Anyone have any ideas please!
Thank you
gizmo31
I´ve the same problem.
Somebody knows how solve it??
thanks!!!
Yep, I can confirm this happens on default browser, skyfire and dolphin.
Works in Opera mini though, could try it if you want hotmail to work in browser
I still don't understand why you would access hotmail through the browser as your preferred method?? Can someone explain the benefits of this?
Microsoft hints you move to Windows Phone
And some app that works with hotmail??
Thanks

"Opera Mini" is the browser app that works
@im_iceman: I don't know, you could be checking hotmail on someone else's phone?
It doesnt work for me on any browser and i use this as preferred method cuz apps just drain the battery so badly

The standard email app works with hotmail and so does k9... And if you want to save battery just set the sync frequency to never and then just update it when you go into it to read your email.. Having said that, I don't have a problem with k9 draining battery...

There's a lot to be said for Opera Mini. I've used it on every phone I've had since my nameless second-hand Motorola clamshell ; -)

Shangmail is not bad either. Real push email too.and much more simple
Gunawan, GN Mutimedia & X10i
The Solution is very easy guys:
1. while on the browser go to settings(press menu ---then More----settings)
2. in settings scroll down to Privacy settings.
3. then clear cache ,if you want clear history
4. clear all cookie data
5. clear form data and if you want clear passwords as well
reboot the phone and trust me this should resolve it .It happened to me 10 times and every time this works...post back if it works for you

One panicked check of my bank account later I realized it must have been triggered by syncing a gingerbread phone to my google account. Anybody else receive this?
I received one of those about the Nexus One when I first flashed some ROM last July - Senseless maybe?

I believe you are correct since the same thing happened to me after flashing the same rom.
I got a similar email when I flashed KaosFroyo on last summer, so I do believe it's something to do with syncing the phone with Google.
I never got that one...
Same here... Got it after flashing the first time... I was surprised
I think its because the CM7 rom shed used for his rom was ported over to Eris from a nexus s.

[Q] How do I download .zip in Gmail ?

Hi All,
First of all, I am not opening this thread because I did not do my homework. I did.
I have tried searching on Internet but seems there isn't really a solution yet. A lot of people recommend Download All Files, Blackmoon etc... but the real issue here is that from Gmail 2.3.5 onwards, there is NOT even a Preview button for the .zip attachment so non of those apps will work. It means, there no button at all for you to 'act' on the .zip attachment, you just see the filename with a paper clip, no Preview, no Info, no Download, no option from the menu etc.
I would appreciate if there is any other working methods besides a third party email client.
Thanks.
Bert
No "working method" that I'm aware of. I use K9 Mail with GMail. Problem solved.
Edit to add - You could always access GMail thru a browser rather than the ****ty app & view/save your attachments that way. I just tested this with Firefox 9 & it works fine. So there's two options for you.
I use it manually via firefox browser or opera mobile

I'm running UnNamed 2.2.1 & have no problems w/ preview or dow load. Android 2.3.6. Have you tried uninstall/reinstall?

Useing gingerbread and same problem, it would be good if some developers made a mod gmail to enable this and add real emoticoms

[Q] New to HTC One (and android) need some help!

Hi, first post on XDA, and never used android before! Liking it so far, but have a couple of questions and would have a couple of questions.
I am using an HTC One (from Rogers wireless in canada, apologies if i posted in the wrong section, couldn't find a section for this phone). I came from using an iPhone, so naturally somethings are very different. I am not rooted, and currently using Nova Launcher free. Would like to stay un-rooted.
My first question is regarding the email notifications for the stock email app (not gmail). When I receive an email, in the notification drop down, there isnt a preview for the email, it only lists my email account, and "new email" underneath it. Any possible way to have it show a short mail preview, similar to iOS using the above launcher and stock firmware (4.1.2)?
The other question I had was if there is any possible way to set up a geo-fence which would enable a preset passcode to be used when i leave my house, and then disable passcodes when i arrive back home?
any help would be great, or if there is a similar thread already.
Thanks!!

I use the default mail app and I get a small preview as you call it (see attachment), But I'm on 4.2.2 not sure if that was introduced with the update or not.
As for the Geo- fence you can accomplish this with NFC Tags or an app called Tasker would allow you to setup your phone to do this.
I also came from an iPhone 4S I'll never go back

I'm trying out automateIt, but I can't seem to get it to activate my trigger. Using the WiFi connected trigger to disable screen lock, but having a hard time getting it working. Any ideas?

Draw Something 2 doesn't remember credentials

So I have Draw something 2 paid version and I use my email address and password to login to use it. The issue is, the app consistently forgets my credentials the next time I launch it! It happens 8 out of 10 times that I have to enter my email and password when I open the app.
Has anyone seen this issue? Is the app just crappy now? It happened to me on my Galaxy S4 and happening on Galaxy S5 as well. Thanks guys for reading.

Used the app once got bored very easily. I'd suggest contacting the developer of the app. It might be something they can walk you through or there might already be a fix
