For the whole month of waiting for S-off the only thing that was going on in here was people complaing and bashing other people. Well now that we have S-off it seems every thread is someone having problems with there phone after they rooted it. It seems to me this is why sprint and htc dont want us toying with these phones. Rooting a phone is suppose to make it better correct? It seeme to me its making the phones worst

welcome to rooting for me
YES its worth it 1000000000%
The forum is usually a place for questions, consumption & troubleshooting. I can post a thread about how happy I am if anyone cares. : p
But yeah that would be why you see what you see.

Yup problems will be there no matter what but i preffer this threads then stuff about another phone or some problems with the phone itself, love root
And we would have less if people will read more thread or the whole description of how to root and what really is
If you don't have an Evo3d well you don't have an Evo3d

Yea there were some minor problems before root but now look...people losing 4g not being able to send and recieve messages. Web not working. Some batteries got better some peoples phones wont turn on at all lol. But the funny thing is. All these problems people are having from rooting if they dont get fixed there gona go into sprint store complaining.

I dunno, the "no calls/txt/data" is a problem that is hit-or-miss when you do a hands-free-activation....root or not. It happened to me, took me under 2 minutes to have fixed by Sprint, who did it happily.
People losing 4G? I don't think this network is robust enough to blame that on root...and even if that is in an area with a rock solid 4G signal I still think there may be some user intervention at play that isn't the fault of getting s-off all by it self.
The funky "turning on, or not, or plugged in, or not, or take out battery, or sdcard, or both, or not" problems were there from the begining...I used to think it was only certain phones, but, I think it's all phones in certain conditions. Being s-off and rooted gives us the ability to put the phone into more conditions where that may or may not happen.
...and as far as battery performance is concerned it's nearly impossible to prove that it ISN'T user/application related. I'm not saying it definitely IS their fault, but, it's impossible to prove that...so many conditions vary for your phone so frequently every day even if yours do not that battery life claims are nearly impossible to prove and impossible to refute based on any changed variable all by itself....not to mention a near 100% chance of someone else reporting the exact opposite condition.
...aside from my data going slow after hands-free-activation (which is fixed in 2 minutes) I have experienced none of these problems after rooting...okay, I take that back, I have experienced the "sometimes it turns on while plugged in, sometimes it doesn't"...but, it did that before s-off/root as well.
...and let's not forget that the s-off hack likely has nothing to do with these issues. I have the eng hboot...non-hacked. Just the way god intended. If it is from anything it would be from the rooting of the ROM, which I still doubt.
Honestly, compared to the initial period after the s-off/root exploits releases for other devices this doesn't seem out of the ordinary at all...and no offense meant, but, are you new to this?
EDIT: Oh yeah, to answer your question....yes, s-off and rooting were VERY worth it to me. Now bring on the AOSP
No way. I hate having a better phone

Oh, I dont have any insurance on my new 3D phone.
Two words: User error. The problems you see are because people do not know what they are doing. Simple as that. Rooting your phone does nothing but give you permission to be able to do what you want to do with "your" phone.

Yeah, that's a really good point. I think that Sprint in general has probably been taking in a lot of new users, likely mostly smartphone users, because of the unlimited data thing...and the fact that Sprint actually has the most compelling collection of smartphones right this second IMHO. Sadly I'm thinking about jumping ship since this signal is just useless to me in most places now, and that's to say nothing of the over-loaded network.
...not to mention the droves of E4G defectors who were following the developers, and the larger and more frequent droves of defectors from every phone from the last generation that want the developer support that the E4G had but they definitely did not see...and then there are all of the people who finally got off of their contract from Heros and Moments from when they were still hot items....
...so, yeah, there is just so many goddamned people in here that I'd be surprised if there weren't more complaints on average. Contrast this to the NookColor forum where there are far more actual tricky problems but nobody blames the root method for them missing a step or not understanding a process...not to mention how god damned civil it is around there.

To me it was worth it. However I've noticed many issues are because folks don't read, can't follow instructions, make changes without knowing WHAT they are doing.
Sorry but if you don't know what changes you're making, what issues they cause, how to fix, how to undo what you screwed up, then they shouldn't be rooting, flashing and changing settings.
By "you" I don't necessarily mean you, but more of a "folks in general".

And really?... basing the success of something on a DEVELOPERS forum's Q&A section?
I can pull up every single phones Q&A section and get just as many, probably more issues in the general dates of when they where first rooted/cracked/jailbroken.

??!?!??!?!?!
Not sure.. he relased 10.1 then the next day the forum stated removed. Some info would be nice, but i haven't seen anything all week till you posted this.
Weird, he has had by far, IMO, the best ROM I have used.
He pull the rom off of XDA for "personal reasons". No idea what that exactly entails.

It's a mystery ... Google Nonsensikal and you can still find his rom.
Listy said he's moved on. No more rom making. 10.1 was his last, he's now doing apps and other things and I believe he is getting a new device. It's a shame but eventually all our devs and porters will go.

come on man , lighten up ,, people cuzing issues around here is one of the reasons devs leaves ,,TRUST Me!!! when i first started this there were a few people who gave me **** for doing nuthing but makin a rom WHICH i dont even use cuz i dont use the phone for personal use , i have my droid x for that
bottom line we cant make eveyone happy and sometimes its just best to move on as he did ,, not sayin thats y he left but people have pushed me towards the door
....hope we don't lose any more developers. Our phone is discontinued and I've got another year left on my contract. I just read a forum that we're no longer get ANY OTA's. If you downgrade, you must flash back up.
Just curious, why'd the ShadowRom guys leave? I know there was some disagreement about linking to their site, but hell I'll download their rom, sign it (for amon ra people) and post to XDA if that's the only issue. I like to flash and experiment. I want as many options as possible for our EOL devices.

It is the nature of the beast. These fancy pocket computers we have now just don't seem to last long before there's something that is so much more capable out there. And when you sell your current phone and add the 1 or 2 year discounts up, it's hard not to move on.
Besides... There are more up and coming devs than you probably realize. It takes time to learn this stuff.
Oh here we go again. Internet argument. Grabs popcorn
Sent from my nonsensikal froyo using XDA App
Y'all talk about this like it's the end of the world. Look at all the old WinMo phones that still have active development here! What about the G1? That was the first Android phone ever sold commercially. And it's running CM6!
They've even ported over the Hero rom to it with HTC Sense.
Now the down side is our phone is CDMA which means we have several continents of potential developers who don't have our device, but we do have our non-identical twin brother the Sprint Hero which shares 90% of its hardware with the Eris. And the Hero has a pretty active development community. (One reason may be is that Sprint traditionally has lower credit requirements than Verizon and it is easier for people to get phones through them)
Anyway, we have Kaos,Tazz, Conap and a few others others who are churning out stuff left and right for our phones still. Nothing to worry about IMO.
We got Froyo which arrived despite Verizon and HTC saying it just wouldn't work. They also said Android 2 would never fit on a G1 and now they've got Froyo. Apps2SD, Cache2Cache and other great ideas will keep our main memory clear for more stuff. If Kaos continues development on his tool to boot roms from SD cards, we have virtually unlimited storage capacity for bigger and better things.
I am not mad at him leaving and I know i can try another rom, just seemed like his has been by far the fastest and most stable.
Not sure what happened behind the scenes, but maybe he will come back.
His v10.1 was top knotch and super fast.

I would imagine it has more to do with appeasing partners (read: Sprint) than it has to do with technical hurdles...though I'm sure there is still a redundantly redundant amount of testing involved. Most of it is probably policy and politics than anything else.

Thats not how they are going to do it simple as that. I asked given xHausx suggested they just post up a firmware.zip on their site for those that wish to flash and get the ENG bootloader flashed and achieve s-off. Their response was that "...that is not the way they choose to fix the problem, and they will do so with a OTA software update.."
end of story is that it WILL get done, but there is no ETA as they NEVER provide ETA's specifically. And they do this b/c there is no telling what problems might arrise while developing the fix. If they said 2weeks and ran into an issue and got delayed then there would be another uproar tossed at them.
Also why when they say they are releasing a new OS update they usually say by the end of X qtr. so they have a TON of leway.

If teamwin does it great. However I would be very surprised if there weren't strings attached to HTC's solution and no thanks to that. If the SGS2 would be announced for a pre-September release date the 3D is going back.

Well, in if that happens in 2 months from now you and the 3 remaining devs will have a blast I'm sure. This technology moves way too fast for delays like this. The first 30 days is a given, return period, time to root, etc...but this time we are up against heavy duty security for heavy duty securities sake.
While I do exaggerate a bit my point remains. We don't have time to wait as much as you think we do...developers want to develop, and when they put a commitment into a device, well, not being able to develop a god damned thing for that device is kinda a turn off. Few of our best ROM developers are also the low-level guys doing the heavy lifting and intense probing and testing required to attain root/s-off...there is an overlap, yes, but most of these guys just want to make a rom or work on a kernel, and that is to say nothing of the theme guys who operate as creative talent before technical talent...
This is an elaborate ecosystem of skills and talents here. If you happened to be one of us lucky ones in the EVO4G community from the beginning you should know that it was a bunch of coincidence and a pre-release root (and the happenstance of Sprint getting its first kickass superphone--now a regular event)...so don't expect that magic to sit around waiting for this phone to be opened up.
I'm not saying it can't happen, but that there were a lot of factors that went into it happening last time--just having a decent phone and a forum weren't what made it happen.
Let me start by saying yes, I am dying to have root myself. I miss cm7, wireless tether, even stock themes, tb, and a whole list of things (my ORD is definitely flaring).
Now let me go on to my real point. All you "omg they have two weeks" people... Is the phone really that unusable as it is? My old hero, I couldn't live without root for overclocking. My shift originally ticked me off with crappy old sense, and then I didn't understand why they didn't make the new update sense 3.0. This phone, at least for now, is up to date, and blazing fast. Root is not a deal breaker on this phone for me like my past phones. And I hack everything... Wii, cr48, router... But I don't find it completely neutering on this phone like other devices

It's a very capable phone, I agree. But it has far more potential than it has capability...and I didn't buy this phone to only be as capable as the phone it was replacing (a heavily modded EVO4G) with the only difference that I can actually see is a resolution difference.
Sure, we knew it would come locked. I knew I'd have this decision to make. It's a very capable phone. But it is also capable of so much more...that's what I want out of it. My 4G was doing everything at least as fast and with at least as good battery life with far more flexibility...
...the only reason I am so impatient is for the reason I posted above. If it doesn't happen relatively quickly the spark will fade rapidly. I feel very comfortable in the 30-day window. But as the 30 day window closes I am not going to be the only one who sizes up this situation and has to make a decision...more important than me and you and all of the other users there are the developers. The ones who provide the value-adding goodies that we love so much...without them we just have a phone like a million other phones, excuse me, that takes 3D pictures and/or Video...the only differentiating feature really....sure, HTC didn't sell a device that was intended to do the things I want to do with it--but it could...until they made it so it couldn't specifically...artificially...
You might not get it...if that's the case, congrats, this is the phone for you. No regrets. Rock on. But for me and what I would imagine are the majority of others here that is a deal breaker.....
@daneurysm: very, very well stated. I'm with you 100%

I have purchased your mogul, evo, and now evo3d. I would like to say that I love the evo3d, its an amazing device. But, if the bootloader isnt unlocked or rooted by the time my 30 days is up, I will be returning it. I feel as though I own the device, and used my hard earned money to buy it, and like a computer I should have access to it. I understand the consumer doesn't matter at all in todays corporate run world, but this is my stance, as is many others. I bought it, I own it, it is no longer yours or sprints as I'm not leasing it, I own it, its mine. Thanks, maybe.
their reply.
I certainly understand that you're looking for the bootloader of the EVO 3D to be unlocked. This is indeed something that we're working on, true to our word. We don't have a date set yet for when the update to do so will be available, but as this is a high priority situation when there is news on the subject it will be posted to our social media outlets, like our Facebook and our Twitter just as the previous announcement was. I hope that it is soon.

Some of you know me. Most of you don't. I don't know what weight, if any, what I have to say will carry.
Nonetheless, I do hope you read this and can appreciate my point of view.
Some background.. My first Android phone was the heroc, and since I bought it eons after initial release, it was already rooted and several alternative ROMs were available, including a still maturing CM 6.x. My second Android phone was the Evo 4G, again bought some time after its release, and root and CM were already available and improving day by day. In both cases, we had phones with relatively easy to defeat bootloader protection.
HTC learned from this. They knew that a system as vulnerable as that was a fairly easy target for those that wanted to do harm. Their engineering choices for the next series of devices was pretty much set in stone: They had to protect their phones from exploitation. Hence we see the shift to eMMC and other technologies to do just that.
How did the masses respond? Well, they didn't give a crap. It was just a miniscule subset of buyers of the new Evo 3D that started *****ing and whining because they couldn't easily bypass their enhanced protection.
After a rather ugly spat of "unlock or we walk" campaigning on their Facebook wall, they promised to unlock the bootloader. A promise I am confident they will keep, if on their terms.
So that we don't lose perspective here, understand that this was a response to a VERY SMALL (albeit vocal) fraction of people that have already purchased or will eventually purchase the phone.
To rephrase: The vast majority of people that buy this phone will never even consider running anything besides what HTC officially releases as an OTA update. It won't even occur to them to do otherwise.
The current stock ROM is not perfect by any means. But then again, when has it ever been that an initial release has been perfect?
Over the course of the next few months, HTC will hopefully work out the majority of the issues (and I am confident that they will, at least from the perspective of the regular user) and, quite frankly, that SHOULD be their focus.
Cue the whining facebook posters, threatening to return their device if HTC does not make unlocking the bootloader their top priority. Hate to break it to you, but they won't, and shouldn't, do that.
You know what? I really hope you return your phones if you don't get what you want. I hope you pout and stomp your feet in the process and bahave like some self-entitled jackass as well. This isn't just about you. It's about the entire customer base, and most of them just hope you will shut the **** up. To be honest, I am one of them.
When HTC does the smart thing, and unlocks the bootloader when they are as certain as they can be that doing so won't endanger the folks that won't take advantage of it in the first place, I'll get my AOSP, and my overclocked CPU, and my tasker and my titanium backup and all the other cool things that come with a rooted phone. And I will get them when having them doesn't put everyone else at risk.
They have a lot of bugs to fix. Some of them are quite annoying. Some of them (re: temproot) are flat out dangerous.
As much as I love and support the people putting countless hours into the root process (and I am actually wondering who gets there first, HTC or the devs) given what I have seen in the dev threads, I am leaning more and more towards waiting to see what HTC comes up with, then proceeding from there. They might not admit it, but I bet the devs are secretly doing the same.
Chill out, good things are coming
I heavily disagree.
I think the mass amount of emails sent to HTC regarding the bootloaders got through to HTC. No one wants to spend endless days responding to the same question over and over so they gave us an ETA (since that's exactly what a majority if their emails consisted of, an ETA request.) This, to me, shows that HTC noticed our presence and also showed how large our comminuty really is. Dissatisfied customers = money lost.
Holy Wall of text not bothering to read that mess... But +1. To whatever point your trying to make

I think its more so they listened because we're the kind of people who really push their phones around to other people. They constantly ask us what phones are good and such. We may be a minority but we sure do influence the other half of the consumers who don't care.

We made our point, they agreed to unlock. Do you really think continuing to harrass them is going to get it done faster?

My statement stands prior to the minorities bombarding their walls now. They've responded and have given an ETA. Anyone that wants to try to push them into releasing quicker, they should just understand it's the best option for now until Sprint releases the SGSII (which probably wont even be until next year.) So just stick with it and hang in there.
I will say I'd prefer it sooner but I think their ETA was made to be the latest date they could prolong the issue.

As we use it its not. That it can be done means there is an exploit that might be used for more nefarious purposes. Read the posts on it, they have reported it to HTC as such.

The nature of the exploit is indeed dangerous, and exploitable - hence having it in the first place.

Yes, the exploit can be malicious in the wrong hands, but you stated temproot in the OP, which was misleading. I've read your OP and I've commented on it. I just want to ask, if we make up such a minority of unhappy buyers, then why do they find the need to put s-off in the first place?

the exploit that gives us temp root is dangerous enough that those that discovered it have reported it to HTC.

Its not misleading. the exploit is dangerous and will likely be fixed soon.
You assume they are giving us S-Off, which in the vernacular of what the 3vo is just doesnt make sense anyway. This isnt as simple as that.
They are probably going to make it so we can write to /system. I do not envision a scenario where we get the equivalent of S-Off, but I also dont see where they have to. this isnt the 4g.

Just saw this update across Facebook from HTC:
Thanks so much for providing feedback, we hear your concerns. Your satisfaction is a top priority for us and we're working hard to ensure you have great experiences with our phones. We're reviewing the issue and our policy around bootloaders and will provide more information soon. Thank you for your interest, support and willingness to share your feedback.
**UPDATE**
We’ve listened. Check out the statement from our CEO, Peter Chou on HTC bootloaders. Click the link for more info. http://on.fb.me/iZXgkR
**UPDATE 7/10**
We wanted to provide an update on HTC’s progress with bringing bootloader unlocking to our newest phones. We know how excited some of you are for this capability, and we’ve put significant resources behind making this change as soon as possible. While we wish we could flip a simple switch and unlock all bootloaders across our device portfolio, this is actually a complex challenge that requires a new software build and extensive testing to deliver the best possible customer experience.
We’re thrilled to announce today that software updates to support bootloader unlocking will begin rolling out in August for the global HTC Sensation, followed by the HTC Sensation 4G on T-Mobile USA and the HTC EVO 3D on Sprint. We’re in the testing phase for the unlocking capability now, and we expect it to be fully operational by early September for devices that have received the software updates. We'll continue rolling out the unlocking capability over time to other devices as part of maintenance releases and new shipments.
HTC continues its commitment to unlocking bootloaders and supporting the developer community. Because of the importance of this community to us, please expect an update on this about every few weeks as we make progress toward launch. Thank you for your patience and continued support!

So I think basically that means they ARE making it a top priority, and it makes your rant irrelevant.
I suppose the title says it all..
I know that the Amaze is lacking in development compared to devices such as the Sensation but there is so much drama here in the Amaze forums... It's kind of ridiculous.
I'm honestly considering buying an HTC Sensation just to get away from the drama here in the Amaze forum.
I really do believe that, though there are exceptions, this entire forum is full of a bunch of spoiled kids who wouldn't even have this device if it weren't for Mommy and Daddy.
Flaming and *****ing and generally behaving like children.
Alright folks.. Lets see how bad I get ripped open for this one..
I considered it for a short time but not after getting s - off. I am staying with my Amaze.

I'm actually a retired senior moderator. I have absolutely no powers on this site anymore. I did pm MikeChannon requesting he reinstate me to this forum only in an attempt to help straighten it up so you're both right and wrong in that regard.
As far as buying a phone just to participate in a community, you're completely wrong about that. Every single phone I have owned since my first Motorola Razr has been a touch screen HTC device and I've been an active member of XDA for almost as long.
I also have no desire to get rid of my Amaze. I simply said that since I'm thoroughly addicted to XDA, I would almost rather have a sensation where there seems to be far less drama.
You see.. I'm a grown man with a wife and daughter. I'm an auto mechanic at a respectable car dealership and I have no desire to sift through 20 pages of useless threads and posts just to read a handful of useless, practical posts.
If Mike decides to reinstate me, you have my word that you will start to notice a big difference around here.

I'm sure you'll admit that it would be nice to have a partner to help maintain the Amaze forums. Who knows.. If Mike decides to reinstate all of my responsibilities as a Senior Mod, I can be of GREAT assistance to you. I know how to do all kinds of weird things.
I was the first person(that I know of) to figure out how to change the date stamp on any post. I actually changed the date stamp of the OP of one of my own threads in the HD2 forum by more than 2 years, predating the device.

I think I know what you meant, and there is a co-mod that does his own here. I think that I'm just a little to nice and let too much slide. I believe you need one of each. Having one nicer, understanding mod and then also a NO-BS mod who doesn't give too many chances.
I was the latter of the 2. I don't know if you are familiar with the HD2 fora or not but I am responsible for the restructure it received a while back. You have NO IDEA how many temp-perm bans I had to fork out both during and after that restructure with all the warez and new users we had come in. That forum was a real mess. I was the NO-BS mod that whipped it back into shape.
I'm just saying that even though you may very well be a great moderator(sorry I don't watch much these days) and your partner as well, it never hurts to have a 3rd set of eyes helping out.
Anyways...
You can really close this thread I suppose. I was just venting I guess.. Wanted to see if I was alone in my frustrations or not..
if anything I thought the "drama" only adds to the fun of the forums

I would have copied and pasted all 12 but my laptop screen is junked and I'm just on my thrive tablet now. That also doesn't include 3 dev requests (2 from same guy) on what we all want in a ROM or the Amaze vs Sensation/sgs2/bb/etc... I hope that's sufficient

I personally think this is way too good to be true, but I think that this is important enough to start a discussion in a new thread about.
I do not want any childish banter between angry parties in this thread , but I do want to know how everyone feels about this information.
IMHO I am hoping and praying that she is right and that some tech at VZW sent her something awesome, something good has to happen to the Motorola community eventually right?

Yeah, it is definitely a possibility that that is the case. The whole reason I posted this is because it has been so long since we heard anything from either of them.
Perhaps they have been PMing instead of going at it in a thread since it was such a heated discussion before.
I don't understand why people are even giving this the time of day. If we get an unlocked bootloader its not going to come from an idiot user who claims to have got it from verizon. Your just feeding the trolls here. Just ignore those comments and move on. Secondly, people are getting a little too emotional about a phone. Someone said we have been burned as a community and we don't want to get hurt again. Really? If your getting your feelings hurt over a phone you may have some other issues you need to take a look at in your life other then a unlocked bootloader.

true, but I'm also thinking that this may be possible, that this could be the way to unlock the bootloader without having to buy another phone. Maybe i'm being too optimistic about this, but that's just how I feel, and how I was raised. Maybe this has to do with me being screwed over by a girl I was in love with because she moved onto her "high school sweetheart," and me wearing my heart on my sleeve, but that's just life. I'm trying to get the best out of my phone until I can upgrade to the GNex or the next best thing, but as of right now, I'm going to see this to the end and if that means I'm going to get hurt again "over a phone" then so be it. I'm going into this to optimistic, too involved, but oh well, that's me not you.

I think it was me who said that. Granted I exaggerated it a little. But I definitely felt notably dissapointed by Melvin when he came trolling here. After all, I paid $200 of my hard earned cash for this turd of a phone and at that price I could have done a LOT of stuff. So, sorry for having feelings for the $200 of my money! sorry, I guess this seems like a bit of petty quarrel and is exactly opposite of what the OP asked us to do but I felt your comment needs some perspective and explanation.
Moreover, I guess given that you gave a Gnex, you don't seem to understand the pains of users with unlocked bootloaders!!!

Why do we need a thread dedicated to information everyone is almost 99% sure is false? I'd she had the tools and really wanted to prove something she would give us hard evidence. You don't walk your ass in here claiming you have the key to making our device infinitely better and just dance around answers like she did.
Sad we need to port her in the spotlight to do so. She is trolling us. Leave her be until she puts up.

Its cool Lite,
I knew this would happen one way or another, we are in the X2 forums you know
But as for you tkuligowski, I asked that we discuss the possibility that she is right, not the emotions involved in our entire forum or if she was a troll. I appreciate your opinion but unless you can actually contribute something useful to this thread please cease posting here.
It is annoying that you already began something I asked the community not to do on the first page of the freaking thread.
On a side note, I sent a PM to a couple of people to try to get MischiefsMommy out of her hole again.

Wait looks like I missed something. A new Melvin case. Been looking around and not sure if or where I missed it. Would be nice to get bootloader unlocked but I bet it wont happen until I buy a galaxy nexus.

It was in the BBB Complaint thread by Litetaker on page 11, it goes off for about 9 pages and then gets back on topic.

Yeah I'm not sure how I missed this either, but reading through her posts she seems to be extremely confused about things. I'm not sure how one can be aware of or unlock their phone and not know how to get a screenshot app.
Just going out on a limb here, but I think she is really just talking about the Razr and is just confused or maybe thinks that what will happen with the Razr will apply to the dx2.

Because of that 1% nobody knows if she is right or wrong. NOBODY. You cannot say she is wrong without knowing the facts yourself and why not hold onto that glimmer of hope, if you read the original post I did ask for opinions, but I did not ask for your opinion on the validity of threads.
I see that you agree that this is most likely false, but it was taking up a lot of space in a different thread and I for one am interested enough to try to find out more.
I told everyone I am willing to attempt all of the tests once the soak/actuall update come out so if we can unlock the bootloader before that even happens I would be in heaven, I hate Moto Blur....

You are correct, I am hoping she is right and that it is an exe and we can somehow apply it to the X2.

That's exactly what I thought. Id like to know how and why she got the unlock from Verizon and not Motorola, cause correct me if I'm wrong but Verizon does nothing in the development and design side if things.

Lol man I did not read back that far this morning. I so wish that was true. With that being said I do not think there is any way in hell we would get all this by end of the month. My wife's bionic would get it first. Like I said if it ever happens it will be when I am onto my next phone. I have till October but been watching eBay I might snag a gnexus if the price is right then no contract.

I sent her a PM this morning, hopefully we get an answer sometime today.
"I'm getting too old for this ****".
Its been almost a year since release and they've been yanking us around. The only way I'll have an unlocked phone anytime soon is if I get a free one from my complaint to BBB.

I honestly agree with you that I think this is too good, but I hope to figure out if this is real or false, she hasn't been back but that could be of a certain person that has scared her off. Maybe we should pm her about this and see if she can share anything with us through that...

Dunno who that coulda been
I may have gone a little overboard with the flaming, but she hit a nerve. Not getting into it again, just wanted to apologize.
Nah, I'm kidding. Good riddance.
Even ignoring the insults between myself and her, I don't think it's debatable at this point whether or not she's a troll (or equally possible: horribly, horribly confused).
I think my summary from that thread summed it up pretty efficiently.

So let me recap.
We have an illiterate Droid Razr owner posting on the Droid X2 forums about talking on the phone with a Verizon representative about an unlocked bootloader (even though Verizon doesn't do jack **** with android) for their phone, which is a Razr, even though she claims it will work for an X2 (actually she hasnt, she just posts about it in the X2 forums. The ****?). This person tells us that the unlock our phones, and it will come alongside an ICS distro at the end of April.
Okay, cool, I didn't believe a word of it, but that at least is a possibility worth considering. That is, until they posted more information.
So as we ask her more about why she's in our forums and why the Verizon rep would have this information (keep in mind, a rep would never have this information if even Motorola reps don't), and she drops a bombshell: she's got an unlocked bootloader. OUT OF ****ING NOWHERE. Not ONCE before this did she care to mention she was unlocked. This contradicts everything she said before this; why does she have it now if it's coming at the end of April.
Alright, let's move on.
So apparently, she found this bootloader unlock on the Verizon site. Again, this contradicts her own story in more ways than I care to mention. Not only that, but Verizon would NOT be in possession of such a tool. It's not as if they even know how to work with Android; they are a service provider!
And finally, she presents us with a file she claims she found on the Verizon site (which she did not) and that it will allow us to unlock our bootloader by entering (this is what I could decipher) a series of ones and then a string of 7 random numbers and letters.
K. I don't know why anyone is still trying. This is worthless. It seems I'm the only voice of reason whenever people try to troll us. This is what, the third time? Fourth? I can't remember.

Are you serious you post a thread asking for peoples opinions on this and then you want me to not post because you don't like my opinion, or because it isn't what you intended for people to post? What you posted in your thread left this open for discussion. My opinion is its complete BS. Like someone said if we get an unlocked boot loader someone will have the tool or the means and post it. Not dance around answers and complain about migraines. Why even feed into it?
Also yes I do have a gnex but I still have my x2 and use it frequently at home. I too want an unlocked bootloader.
