atrix repair - Atrix 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I got the 0x1000 issue and sent my phone in for repair at the motorola repair center and it arrived there on thursday. I tried tracking the repair and it said they hadn't received it yet even though UPS said it arrived... It's been four days so.. does anyone know how long an atrix repair might take (general assumptions) and if you've gotten a different moto phone repaired did they keep you up to date on their progress?

Say goodbye to your Atrix. All your Atrix belong to Motorola.

why do you say that? You don't think they'll at least TRY to fix it?

They won't even give it back.

Phone Replacement

Just wanting to get a FYI. I may by default try for a replacement before my 1 year is over. Whats the process I should go through in order to make sure its a valid replacement.
What ROM should I go recover to?
What process should i go through to unroot?
Is there anything else i should make sure is done before I send in my phone after getting replacement?
All help is much appreciated.

Unless you have insurance and there is a major problem with you phone Tmo isn't going to replace your phone.
Unrooting is easy its basically typing in a few commands to unroot it or you can do it via OCLF
As far as putting the stock rom back in place you can use ODIN
T-Mo is very inconsistent. If you call one time, you can get someone that is Super Rep and will go by the book and make it hard to get a replacement. If you call again, you can end up talking to someone who just sends you a new one no questions asked.
I've had 4 vibrants since july, and have swapped them all at my t-mo store. Theyre not supposed to do that, but they do, sometimes you just gotta ask nicely and look like a victim.
Uh how have you gone thru 4 vibrants....crazy

Someone at tmo isnt doing their job. After the 3rd exchange within 3 months they are supposed to force you into a different model phone, and release you from your contract in case you want to leave them.
Because after 3 exchanges, you're costing them more money than you're worth to them.

[Q] On a Fascinate...

I'm on my 3rd Fascinate and I'm getting my 4th tomorrow. I wanted to get a TB, but they didn't let me, saying that it wasn't "equal". Does anyone know a way to get a TB in my situation?
Buy it at Full Price Then sell yours brand new
You can sell the fascinate for $$400-$500 and its only cost me $600 to buy the thunderbolt outright.

Probably more like 300-400$ on Ebay

[Q] I'm selling my Thunderbolt, un-root or leave rooted?

I'm thinking I might be forced to sell my HTC Thunderbolt. Right now I am running the latest BAMF 2.1, and my question is, can I sell my phone and be able to meet someone at a Verizon Wireless and have the rooted Gingerbread Tbolt activated to whoever the buyer will be? Or do I need to flash back to bone stock unrooted 2.2? I'm hoping to leave it as is and just do a data wipe so that perhaps mine will have a little bit of an edge over the other phones I'm seeing posted now. I hate to sell it but times are tough. Thanks for any advice! -Phil
Most of the phones I have sold I have left rooted

I'd leave it as is, custom rom & all. Whoever buys it will most likely appreciate it. If they've had a rooted HTC before, they can figure out how to swap roms/radios.

Bought "Like New Mint" condition atrix on ebay

I just bought a "Like New Mint" condition atrix off ebay. The seller is a power seller with a 99.6% rating.
I opened the box and had it unlocked and aura 1.1.3 installed before it even finished its first boot.
After fooling with it for a bit, I came to realize there is a dead row of pixels on the screen a half inch thick spanning across the top of the screen....
I already sent an email to the seller and awaiting a reply...
Justvwanted to know if anyone knows another way I can fix this. Could I copy the pds from my other atrix?
Man this blows, since I just ordered an unlock code for that imei as well.
I'm too on the ball and gotta slow down I think lol
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated

You didn't just sell it on ebay did you?
Solid...Does the touchscreen work in that area or were you unable to boot. If you can't get your cash back, my guess is it took a fall or it passed through an xray machine maybe. New digitizer wouldbe my first thought. Is it there when you fast boot?
Just had the same problem with mine; looks like it's the digitizer.
I flashed back to Bell 2.2.2 (bl and all), restored PDS backup, factory reset, etc and no fix. Sent it back to moto for repair and they told me it was due to water damage (which I think is BS; as I've never had it any where near water.. even made sure to take it out of my pockets before taking a shower to avoid steam).
Got my Atrix around March 20th, so it would have been one of the first run and my buddy who works at a Bell store said he'd seen a couple come back already.
Luckily I had the insurance, so I gave it some real water damage and had it replaced...

[Q] Returning relocked rezound?

So i really want to unlock but im worried about it still saying re-locked at the top if i ever have to send it back for any reason just in case. Maybe im just paranoid but i have already had 1 replacement and i don't want to have trouble if i need another. Anyways, my question is has anyone successfully returned a rezound BY MAIL. i dont care about if it worked in a store, i have to send it back by mail. Has anyone done it? If so, post your results
PS. I am not new to rooting, i had a Dinc and loved all the roms for it but you could always get it back S-on if you needed a replacement and there's no way to do that with this one.

You still have HTC's Warranty, as for Verizon.. A store Visit they won't really bother going as deep as checking the bootloader... A mail in to Verizon they would notice once they try to Debug it before selling it off as Refurbished and sending you another
But DO they check and debug that deeply. Going to a store is really just not an option for me and I don't want to be stuck with a defective phone if I can't get it replaced and its a hardware problem.
EDIT: Also, what does HTC's warentee cover vs. Verizon's?
Sent from my ADR6425LVW using XDA App
HTC claims they will cover all HW issues NOT related to unlocked bootloaders. Verizon is kinda up in the air. I can say plenty of people have said that they have sent multiple phones back to Verizon while still rooted and s-offed, so not just the rezound and have never been charged.

In all reality it comes down to the individual person at Verizon who checks the phone... Somebody might load up the Bootloader and See "Unlocked" and all hell breaks loose... Or some dude might just ignore it and flash a Factory Locked Bootloader and move on..
As for Warranty IDK.... Check the manuals that came with the phone
So, here's the better question, has anyone here actually been slapped with a fine for returning an unlocked bootloader?

So far as we are aware, noone has. To be honest, as tach said, they might just flash the stock bootloader and go on. Depends on if that employee wants extra work or not.

Is this at the store or at a return center? Not sure of the terminology for the location where a VZW employee would have the opportunity to flash an engineering bootloader.

I don't think they will go that deep and check the bootloader, when my OG droid antenna crapped out on me I brought it in on cyanogenmod and they didn't even notice, the employees in most of the cases don't know squat about the phones and what to do with them
