I think I am not the only one that feels that the vibration after unlocking the screen is annoying. Anyone know of a fix for this?
I think it's one of those "all or nothing" things dude... Either haptic feedback or not - system wide (unfortunately).
The thing is I disabled the haptic feedback and the unlock screen is the only time it vibrates. There has got to be some file with a line you can edit to remove this.
I'll second the request. I disabled the heptic feedback system wide and the keyboard kept vibrating, so I shut it off in the keyboard settings. The only other place still doing it is the lock screen.
+1 on this.

+2 on this.
Speaking of unmanagable annoyances....below is a link to a small app that will disable your loud-ass camera shutter (Photon) without root. Only modifies sound...keeps the stock camera.

Those its no longer needed if you adjust the settings through root explorer
"ro.media.capture.shuttertone" change to 1 soft reset and you'll have the setting added to disable the shutter tone in the camera settings.

Is there any way to disable the haptic feedback on the bottom four soft keys. I hate getting that vibration whenever I use them.
+1 I also dislike the vibration but cannot find a setting to disable it.

@aaurnab
Check the development forum. There is a thread explaining how to accomplish this.
There's actually 2 threads ATM about this. One disabling it through the framework-res.apk and one through the android.policy.jar file. So far only the first one has worked for me.

it's quite simple guys without getting too tech.
2 places to look:
1. Sound settings - disable Heptic feedback
2. Input settings - disable vibration
Did it for me.

Both these settings are not available in Atrix
Turn off haptic feedback on softkeys
Hi all, had my atrix (rooted) nearly a week now on Orange UK and one of the most annoying things for me was the haptic feedback on the soft keys, i couldn't find a setting in my phone to turn them off, so i scoured this forum looking for ways to do it, and it looked like the only way was to alter the framework which i'm not very comfortable in doing. So i went through the android market and came across this amazing app called VIBRAFIX ( must be rooted ) which allows you to turn the haptic feedback on the soft keys off, but also gives you the option of keeping vibrate on for your calls, sms and alarm clock. Hopefully this will save a me a bit of juice in my battery aswell.

So, I double checked, and several reviews out on the webs noted the ability to use the camera button to activate the camera (even while locked?) and start taking pictures instantly without the need to use the power button. Since unboxing and setting up my phone I have been unable to duplicate this, and I must say it was a feature I was strongly looking forward to.
Anyone attempted this and have success? Is there an option somewhere to enable the ability to do this?
Thanks in advance! Happy unboxing day!

From what I read, you have to unlock it first. D:
If you have the camera on the shortcuts bar then sliding that to the unlock circle will bring up the camera. To access the gallery or home screen it will require you to unlock(face, pattern, pin, ect..)
backedc4 is right, if you have it on the lock screen shortcuts, just slide it open directly. anything else will require an unlock first.
from whatever you are doing with it once unlocked though, just long-press the camera button (all the way down) and it'll bring up the camera.
---
i thought it would be a gimmicky thing, but that long camera-button press rapid-shot photo capture is freaking awesome. i dont know how i ever took decent pictures before!!
Yeah, I knew about that, but I am sad to find out that the claims reviewed online are not holding true. Namely "For starters, that dedicated button lets you access the camera functionality with the phone switched off." (http://www.engadget.com/2012/04/04/htc-evo-4g-lte-preview-video/)
However, upon further research Cnet had the issue as well (http://reviews.cnet.com/smartphones/htc-evo-4g-lte/4505-6452_7-35182267.html) so it would appear moot. Blah! This is most certainly a feature I would like to show up in rooted versions tho, hah
Are we talking screen or security lock here? I'd say if you have a security lock you would not want to be able to bypass it for the camera. Once in the camera all of the photos you have taken are visible. As for screen lock I agree you should be able to bypass it.
hey, it does that if you take off locking
I remember tech blogs complaining about the amount of time they had to hold down the button to activate the camera, but I like it. I find myself accidentally pressing it a bit whenever I try to stretch my right hand up the screen. If it activated on every little press, that'd be really annoying. I haven't gotten to open from the lockscreen though (I have a pattern unlock)... But I don't mind that at all either.

Thanks for the tip. Now I can get into the camera app from where ever I'm at by just holding down the camera button for a few seconds. I love having a dedicated camera button.
I saw it in the reviews, too. Also I saw another thread where it's mentioned. Have you guys tried (while screen off/locked) just holding the button down for about 5sec?

Yeah, no go sadly. It's not that big of an issue to use the shortcut bar from the lockscreen, it really only adds a slight extra motion / time frame, but hey, I had to ask to see if anyone knew different!
I was able to access the camera via the dedicated button while the screen was locked for the first day or two, but at some point it has ceased to work. I have gone through every settings menu I could find to see if I made a change somewhere but have yet to find a reason. It was an awesome feature and I want it back.
I've also noticed various small things different from the first day or two, and I haven't rooted or made significant changes. I get the gut feeling this thing is getting secret silent background updates from either htc or sprint. not happy and worried about rooting because of ths...
anyone know how to check or monitor this??
Whoa the above 2 posts are pretty nuts! Completely silent updates could be quite annoying for people running rooted devices.
exactly, has me worried. I'll start another post about it later

Care to expand on what "small things" you have found that have changed from the first day or two?
Hey Guys, happy new Year to everyone !
Maybe i found a soulution for people like me, where facing Red/Pink Issues on there Note 8. Specially for people, that want to use Amoled-Kino Screen mode.
For me, the Issue looks like, when i activate Amoled Kino- My Screen Colors get low down, like when you put out 50 % saturation and contrast plus a Red Tint. Anyway, Samsung offers a Software Fix with Adaptive Mode for Display and you can regulate with 3 Sliders to correct your Color. But how ever i set the Values, the Colors in Adaptive Mode are very cold and its sad when i lay down my Note beside my old S7 Edge. Special with activated Kino Mode.
So i searched a few Days in the Web and found a App called : ''ColorModeChancer''. This simple App does nothing else, then to Set the Values for Red/Green/Blue and Contrast/Saturation manual. When i understand the Dev right, it talks to the Kernel and maybe the Screen Configuration for Colors/Saturation and Contrast is load from Kernel and not for Example from another File or Script from System itself. But im no Dev and maybe i talk Bull**** how it exactly works Ask the Dev by yourself or Read Playstore Description. Maybe you understand it better then me. I just wann guide you all to maybe solve the Red Tint Problem.
Steps to install:
You need to be Rooted.
''To avoid using one App for "setting last saved value without open any window" and another one for "open Settings window" I choosed this App behavior:
1) run the App
2) first run ONLY sets last saved value
3) next launches within 30 seconds will open the Settings
4) subsequent launches within 30 seconds will do #3
5) if 30 seconds are passed, the next launch will do #2'' > Description copied from Playstore
6) (From me): Set Cinema Mode in the App and everything is good, you have now a correct configuratet screen with Amoled Kino Mode how it should work
Bugs :
Maybe you get a little Bit of Lag when you scroll down in Apps like Facebook or Instagram. For me, i solved it with cache cleaning for these Apps. Anyway it works like Charm for me.
The App costs around 50 Cent, was orignal made for non Samsung Stock Roms like Linage, Cyanogen etc. where dont have the Option in Settings, to set the Samsung Screen Modes like Amoled Kino.
I dont Link the Playstore Link here, because the App costs Money and i dont want to make advertising for the Dev or anyone else. Just want to share this Guide/Workaround for interested people with the same issues as me. One more Time, the App calls ''ColorModeChanger'' and it is aviable on the Playstore.
Further i Emaild with Samsung and they swear that the Screen Problem is a Software issue and not a Hardware Problem from the Screen itself. After that, i found this App and now i believe that Samsung tlaks the tings right, before i dondt believe that it is only Software Problem. Anyway, it works for me and the result is AMAZING
Have Fun & Good Luck ! :fingers-crossed:
Did Huawei ever fix the adaptive brightness bug which dims the screen when using certain apps, such as Facebook?
I sold my Huawei Mate 10 a few months ago due to this issue. I've been thinking about giving it another try.

Not yet, tried to get an answer from Huawei support, but they seem to be not very interested in their customers.
I have a Mate 10 Pro with the latest May update.
Their simple answer was that they are sorry that I was not satisfied with the features of their phones and case closed.
So is it a bug or a battery saving feature to ignore brightness settings when you put auto off.
Explained them that it is little bit stupid to still adjust brightness when you put auto brightness off, it is my decision to use more battery and not Huawei,
The answer of them made the decision to buy never again Huawei stuff.
I lurked around different sites about this problem and found this to work for me on my Mate 10 Pro. You can test it out yourself and see if it helps
1. Turn-off Power Saving Mode
2. Go to System > Developer Options > Increase Readability Under Sunlight> Toggle Off
3. Then make sure to restart your phone and open your apps (like Chrome) to see if it's still auto-dimming
Have a look on Google Play for the Settings Database Editor app and hunt in there. I recall seeing a few entries for the brightness which you could probably tweak. No root needed.
Unfortunately no change for me screen still dims on most apps, chrome etc.
I downloaded the settings editor app mentioned above, deleted the line regarding autobrightness and the problem seems fixed!

Any hint? Thanks a lot
I've noticed that no matter what setting I have it on, my tablet (M5 8.4) automatically lowers the screen brightness in Chrome and YouTube, but more noticeably in Chrome.
Any way to disable this?
Have you checked the setting menus?
Using Firefox might be a solution.
Also, Youtube in FF has background playback as long as you are using a desktop user agent.

I've checked every possible setting, and read online everywhere, but to no avail. It also dims in Firefox. It dims as soon as you go into the app. After an online search, I found many Huawei owners with EMUI 8.0 having this issue. There is one solution, but it requires root and I don't want to root my device after having it for a few hours.
Funny. Would love a solution as well as this is rather annoying
Do you guys have auto brightness turned on or off?
I never really experienced this issue, but I did observe strange brightness behavior before I began to keep auto brightness permanently enabled.
Doing a quick search, I saw one person say to turn auto brightness on, I saw one person say to make sure animations aren't disabled in dev options, some say unclick 'increase readability in sunlight' in dev options. I personally wonder if the stock launcher (which I don't use) maybe is set to override the brightness level.

I somehow doubt that. I am using Nova Pro and am experiencing some weird behavior when attached to the Keyboard ... (the dimming function mentioned here is, what I believe, the erroneous function, as it works quite nice when not attached to the keyboard ...
All "your" suggestions do not work - I find this "function" somewhat annoying, even without the keyboard-thing ...
There is one solution, but it requires root and I don't want to root my device after having it for a few hours.

Well, I went through with it and rooted it. I tried the fix, and... it worked! After you're rooted, simply freeze the system process (I used Titanium Backup) called PowerGenius, reboot and no more forced-auto brightness dimming.

hmhm. I was quite sure it was a System process - since the "bug" (dunno whether you read the thread on keyboard and brightness ...) appears with the system-icon when in Desktop-Mode ...

Just disable "power genius" this has worked for me. without root. No More auto dimming.
Disabling Power Genius will also get rid of issues involving bluetooth music playback, and will prevent apps like Google Maps from getting killed off semi-aggressively in the background (i.e. so when you map out driving directions you won't have to reenter the address as you get close to your destination).
Quick note: you have to reboot after disabling Power Genius. Merely disabling it won't immediately change anything.
Up until now I thought a reboot would bring the "wonderful" feature back ...
How comes that you mention a reboot is needed?
How do you disable it? I can only do a force stop
I'm not sure how to disable it without root (I imagine adb might work). With root, most use Titanium Backup to freeze it. I'm using Service Disabler to disable the associated services instead. Service Disabler is awesome if you are rooted, underrated app and great for EMUI because, for example, you can disable individual parts of the Tablet Manager app without breaking the features you want.
You might not need to reboot. When I initially froze it using Xposed Edge Pro, but didn't reboot, it didn't change anything for me. Could have been due to Xposed Edge Pro.

Thank you sooooo much... You can't believe how annoying this was. No need to even reboot either and it doesn't return if you do.
Now I just need a way to too keep the custom 740DPI after reboot and this tablet will be perfect
