everyone in the EVO 3D forum is going to say the the evo 3d. Do get a fair comparison, google or youtube evo 3d vs optimus 3d. There are plenty out there. Real world winner? Evo 3d hands down

This. To be honest, performance is not really much different.
Yes the optimus3d got 0,2ghz slower cpu, but it is a cortex a9 making it faster.
Same story with ram...
For the design, i love the evo3d more.
Screen is also better on the evo3d. Nobody can say their o3d got a better screen. This is a fact.
The 3d seems to be as good on both phones. Some claim the 3d is better on the o3d, some claim its better on the evo3d. Although most reviewers say its the o3d, they may simply only have watched the camera app. And again, the evo3d got higher resolution and this will surely help watching a nice 3d movie.
The evo3d got a notification led where the o3d doesnt got it.
Camera wise the evo3d takes better lowlight photos and more colorised video.
Although the o3d takes bigger photos(more megapixels in 3d mode, and 1080p 2d support).
The evo3d and o3d both got good developer support. Both have nice roms.
But the evo3d seems to have alot more bugs, glitches, ect then the o3d, but this is not true for all sold models.
Both have great variarity in battery life. There is no telling how much you will get. (ofcource your usage will matter but still people get big differences)
As you can see, i would choose the evo3d, and have....

As someone who's owned HTC and LG phones, I can tell you now that HTC is infinitely more reliable than LG, and their warranty is miles better.
LG make terrific hardware but the software is rubbish. This ruins the entire experience.
I would only recommend an LG phone if you plan on hacking it on day one, because the hardware to cost ratio is the best in the industry.

In areas where there is no 4G, the ATT phone will have faster internet connection.
HTC EVO 3D
It looks better, feels better, probably even tastes better.
Sense pawns every other Skin (even though LGs 3D interface on some apps is kinda coool)

Acually Optimus 3D have more features, and power ( the cheated version of SGX540 is amazing fasst )
The resolution, really i dont care of that in my case, i have a sensation on my home, and i can say, there is no true 100% diference, just only on webrowsing ,texting.
Cons of resolution, some apps doesnt work well, or doesnt look good.
The 3D looks similar on both, but O3D feels a bit better on long time of use. ( doesnt hurt your eyes )
The design, yea EVO3D looks better, but Optimus 3D is cool too just plastic
Battery life? similar, maybe without the 3D O3D last a bit more due 1Ghz, and OMAP4.
Optimization? I can say Optimus3D with 2.2 its more faster, than the EVO3D and Sensation.
And That GIg of ram, really i prefer dual chanel, 512 and not 1Gig single and actually 512 are sufficient, never i need more ram, for anything.
The video, are better on Optimus 3D, the 720P and 1080P are much much better because EVO doesnt have, the 3D videos i dont know, i cant feel any diference.
tha is all Excuse my bad english.

Mainly posted this for all the comments I read stating...I hate the evo 3d I wish it was the same phone just without the 3d and with the same camera as the evo because 8 is 3 more higher giggerpixels than 5...
point of the thread is...MEGAPIXELS ARE NOT A TRUE INDICATION OF WHAT IS "BETTER". same goes for quadrant scores...anyway thanks for reading, comment beeeeeeeeeeeeeeelow
While I agree that megapixels do not matter so much when it comes to picture quality I have to say my E4G took much better pictures than what he has there. It can't compete with my Canon T1i, but, as someone mentions in the comments there, the stock ROM was made to use the Evo's camera and takes much better pictures than anything I've seen CM7 take. Honestly I was impressed with the Evo 4Gs camera when it was used with proper lighting.
My 3d takes much better pics then my 4g. The colors and clarity have been much better for me on the 3d.
I do not understand why anyone has complained about the camera. The only complaint I have is I wish there was no delay when taking a picture and I would truly be happy. This of course is not a complaint just towards the 3d but seems to be the norm for all camera phones.

If you go to settings when in the stock camera app go to 'review duration' and select 'no review' and off and the delay is gone. Makes taking pics real snappy.
Is it just me or did a lot of the 8mp pics look much better, more life-like and realistic. Just the first picture looked better with the 5mp to me. Who knows though...I'm old and probably need glasses.

those M&Ms look awesome BTW...
Although I do love my phone very much, I think fanaticism is to blame... Fanatics are the guys who get mad at any little negative comment or personal opinion that does not agree with their logic. i.e.- the whole camera thing ii treated ii is mentioning... I swear it's like people use "Text search" on the page and look for threads that say IMO, or I THINK... It's kinda pathetic. A valid point I say OP.
IMO I think either camera can take amazing pictures depending on the circumstances. I own both phones and I can tell you, some pics look like crap, some look awesome. Diff'rent strokes for diff'rent folks.
Megapixels don't matter, sensor quality does. The Evo 3D sensor is a noisy mess, as are most small phone-friendly sensors, but the Evo 3D is just average at best.
Please. Massive rationalization. (Yeah, I know...from an idiot, lol).
You can only make judgements by using your own phone, your own eyes, vs other phones. Not shots via other cameras via other links/sites/unknown settings.
I've done so many comparisons...hundreds (E3D vs 4G; E3d vs SGS2; E3d vs other E3D's!....yeah camera quality was important to me this round!... that I'm really over this
But:
The average (all lighting) 2D pics in the Evo 3D are:
1. In the 2011 smartphone arena are p o o r! It's a great device but this is a fact.
.2.Are substandard vs the 4G (although settings workarounds can bring it close). Go to a sprint store. Fairly compare in average lighting.
3. Are flat out dull compared to the 8mp Sensation...which is a slight upgrade to 4G.
4. Vs SGS2, IPhone or Sony Arc? Don't need to go there!...although I think this is gonna change with HTC devices from here on out.
If you take your phone and compare to the other devices in various conditions I think you'll agree.
Still really like the E3D tho....thing smokes! Don't really know what updates/rooting will do but we'll see.
the bottom line for me is camera-wise, i want a phone that takes clear pictures that i can semi-blow up and keep "good" quality. I don't care how good they actually are, so long as i can see them and no areas are blotchy...but once again let me see to everyone, this had nothing to do with the quality of the evo 3d's camera. It has to do with the fact that people simply are assuming 8mp>5mp...not true. that is the point of my post, not that the evo 3d has a great or better than XXX's camera. wrong idea here...
Was trying to find a post somewhat related to the camera quality on the E3D (takes a while to do so on said phone) without making a new post. Here are a few pics I have taken with my phone.
Enjoy.
Edit: Seems that my phone didn't upload the same picture size for each photo even though they were all taken the same way...

Hey guys, I'm considering buying this phone but I'd just like to know if there are any outstanding issues or problems you've noticed?
I'm coming from the galaxy s2 (epic touch 4g the sprint version) and while it was a great phone, the GPS on it was absolutely atrocious and until recently it was plagued by a huge loss of signal problem.
If you wouldn't mind, could you compare the s2 and the evo3d for me a bit?
I really appreciate any help!
EDIT: Just a few questions I have off the bat:
Will the evo3d receive the ice cream sandwich update?
How is the overall quality of the phone?
Is battery life at least reasonable, can it get me through the day on light/moderate use?
How is the Sense UI?
Forgive me for asking such basic questions, I'm kind of new to the smartphone world but my friend is a rabid HTC fan and I've always thought they had pretty good design, but have heard the sense ui can be a bit of a drain.

It is in the works. Thought the most recent update would have been it, but it was a removal of CIQ mostly > TrevE, you're the man.
How is the overall quality of the phone?
Nice build. From my experience with Samsung phones, the overall build is flimsy compared to HTC. HTC just seems way more durable, at least to me.
Is battery life at least reasonable, can it get me through the day on light/moderate use?
With any smart phone your gonna take some battery life HP (hit points if your not a nerd) but overall it's good battery life. It all depends on the ROM and kernel you choose though, some don't play nice.
How is the Sense UI?
I personally haven't really given a ish about Sense UI since day one. I make my ROM senseless and use ADW Launcher EX. But If you want to make comparisons, Sense UI is one of the best stock UI's out there IMO.
I've never owned a Samsung phone so I can't truly say how the HTC EVO 3D compares to the Galaxy S2. But from my experience with this phone, it's well worth the purchase. Plus since you're on Sprint, if you don't like it, you can make a return or exchange in 30 days.
Sprints return policy is only 14 days, you get a full refund on returns, if you want to exchange for another phone there is a $ 35 restocking fee.
We got 2 Evo 3D's in June and no issues or complaints so far.
I would take the E4GT over the 3VO, but I like HTC's build quality and dev support. I would just stick with the E4GT until the LTE devices begin rolling out.
If you really care about gps then yes if not id get galaxy nexus when it comes to sprint

LTE plus quad core HTC I *think* is coming as next evo q2 2012 - wait and watch updates from MWC 2012
This week the Evo 3D was available for 269€ in Germany.
Definitely worth it
It's still available here in Slovakia. That's why I bought it.
Odoslané z môjho HTC EVO 3D X515m cez Tapatalk
I've used a friend's ET4G so that should help me with answering these questions.
Will the evo3d receive the ice cream sandwich update?
The Evo 3D will be receiving the official Ice Cream Sandwich OTA update in "Q1," which will probably be march/may. You can install an ICS ROM which will probably have stable builds sometime in february/march.
How is the overall quality of the phone?
Compared to the ET4G, it's definitely better. It feels nice and solid while holding it, not plasticky. The quality of the phone is overall amazing. The only bad thing is the screen which doesn't have sharp colors like the ET4G.
Is battery life at least reasonable, can it get me through the day on light/moderate use?
IDK about the battery life on the ET4G, but it definitely gets me through the day without having to plug it in until night. I can tell you that it is a HUGE improvement from the Evo 4G. If you only use the screen for about 2-3 hours a day without heavy activities like games, videos, etc., you should be able to last a day without needing a recharge. Some custom ROMs that you can install will also give noticeable improvements to battery life.
If you want the best battery life, install an AOSP ROM like Cyanogenmod or an Ice Cream Sandwich ROM.
How is the Sense UI?
It really matters. If you like AOSP (Stock android, like on the nexus S 4G), the ET4G UI is probably much better and for you. If you don't like the ET4G UI, you'll probably like Sense. It's a really different UI which you have to experience to know.
Additional notes
Overall, I'd still stick with the ET4G if I were you. The signal isn't much better on the 3D (1 bar vs 4 bars compared to evo 4G), but the GPS is amazing. I can tell you, that, after using my friend's ET4G, I'd much rather have that than the Evo 3D if the development community there was bigger.
Pros of switching over:
-bigger community
-solid design
-good GPS
-signal might be a little better
-more
Cons:
-loss of amoled screen
-loss of 4.65" screen
-more
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Installing new ROMs and firmware is much different than samsung, so read the HTC Unlock sticky and its first 3 replies if you want to know how to flash ROMs.
Everyone, thank you so much for your thoughtful posts! I can't tell you how much this has helped me make my decision...I am going to get this phone
Maybe I will put cyanogenmod on it, I have never done anything like this before but we will see!
I'm one of the many guys coming from the evo4g to the 3d, I have had my 3d for a little over a month now. I will say that it feels vastly superior to the 4g off the bat. Much faster with the dualcore, and I feel it has a better overall design. I realize you are coming from the epic 4g touch. I think you will find the 3vo a great phone, its fast and smooth, has a decent amount of development now, and has some great overall features. The camera button is really cool, and while I first though the 3d capability was a gimmick I'm finding it to be very cool. I enjoy watching 3d videos on youtube/etc and playing 3d games. also recently my gf got a 3vo and we like to send 3d pics to each other. Sense is great, I know a lot of people hate on it and that used to be me, but I have seen them make great strides since way back when with my evo4g and do think it provides a delightful user experience.

The battery life on the EVO 3D with the latest 651.5 build has been awesome. The build quality with HTC phones has always been superior to Samsung IMO. It seems like Samsung can never get their gps issues ironed out. It was a problem with my old moment and it seems like its still a problem for them with the newer phones. Personally i would hold off on getting a new phone until the LTE phones are released but if you can't wait the the 3D is a good choice. The pic shows battery stats with light to moderate usage. Stock battery on latest stock rooted build.

"Media Markt" and "Saturn" had it for 269 €.
The most persistent issue I've seen come into the store with the 3D is screen issues... where it ghost touches things without you doing anything.
But I personally have the phone and never experienced this problem.

This may sound like my other thread, but I thought I should recreate a similar one now that we have the Evo One's specs.
I'm on the fence between the two devices and don't know which one to get. The leaked HTC Evo One specs/shots are a let down, but still sound like a really big improvement. Also, the camera is supposedly better than the 4s's camera.
And then there's the SGSIII. I don't know anything about it yet, but will the development really be that bad? The SGSII was way better than the Evo 3D to me but I stuck with the 3D because of the development.
I think it's safe to assume though that the SGSIII will have an amazing screen.
Which one are you guys going to choose? Hopefully if I can see what the majority will get, I and others will know what to also get.

It would make it biased towards the Evo One (which I have to admit, it already is) if I posted it's specs and not the SGS3's since it doesn't even have specs. This was really more of a thread to ask if people are getting the Evo One or are they skipping it.

Yes, and the rumored processor is a quad core 4412 which is the same one used in the GS2, except this one would be quad core. Still gonna suck in battery. And the other rumor was 1080p HD screen, which is also false based on the GS3 going into testing and the screen being used is 720 HD Samoled, like the GS2.
To many rumours and not enough facts. The reason the s2 got more dev support than the 3d is simple. Alot more people own one. All i know is my 3d will kick the crap out of any phone stuck on 3g especially sprints lol. I get great wimax right outside of nashville. I wont even dream of doing anything till lte goes live here which we are scheduled in the 2nd round this year. I wanna see some results from that first! The s3 could pull me away if i like it enough dunno? I dont always trust reviews though. Everyone claims how awesome the s2 screen is blah blah blah. My partner has epic 4g touch and i love size and feel. HATE TOUCHWIZ!! Screen? Maybe im blind but side by side the evo clearly is better picture but my opinion. My evo rooted his s2 is not. I definately have to juice my evo up a tad to be even. Id say 10-15% more power his phone has but I can overclock and easily beat him. With chads kernel i can easily reach 4000 quadrant which is not alot less than one x stock. Im also on gb and not ics so like i said its not terribly far off. Which device will i choose and i will buy one by year end? Honestly im thinking by time lte gets here which will be septemberish the new nexus will by a blink away and rumours of it will be what s3 is now. Im huge htc fan so dont hate when i tell yall this but this phone htc just released? Will not beat what apple has coming sorry....im most likely to pass unless something goofy happens.

yeah really pointless to discuss the SGS3 until AFTER their event of announcing its specs....And still even after the event your going to have to hope that Sprint is getting it at launch with same specs as I wouldn't be surprised if they do the whole world release and then Sprint doesn't get it for another 4 months like the last one...unless they do that truly world release on all carriers at launch....though that would be a first...
And also whats to say the Sprint version isn't somewhat different than the regular GSIII like the GS2 and Epic 4G Touch differ now?...E4GT has bigger screen and 4 buttons unlike the regular GS2...
just wayyyy too many variables out there right now to even think of comparing the two or making a full blown decision if you are debating the GSIII...esp when you toss in 2 totally different SoC's being rumored for the GSIII...too many variables
You do know the sgs3 doesn't exist...

I know everybody wants to switch to a new phone, and one of the reasons is the newest htc camera is so much better than anything else...or is it? Maybe waiting one more generation is the way to go.....http://www.gsmarena.com/pureview_blind_test-review-773.php
This thread says otherwise
well of course it does, they all own the phone and they are coming from older phones. Fact is no one in the 1000 people sampled could pick out the htc photos. Well maybe thats a good thing?
There is alot more to a smartphone than its camera, the evo 3d is the exception because 3d is the headline feature.....point being HTC has designed a good phone (albeit with a few niggles for a selected bunch of models), The camera is the cherry on the cake, now people can decide if they want the whole experience i.e. the cake, or just the cherry i.e. the standout feature from the proverbial or literal sh**

Is the camera better than my phone? By miles. Am I looking to get the LTE based on its camera? Not at all.

That might not be true, actually cell phones are so much alike that one phone having a much better camera than the others might turn out to be it's biggest feature. At any given moment there might be almost as many people taking pictures with a cell phone as there are making a call, heck a lot of people just text or use it for web surfing.
I think the real question here is, what camera would meet YOUR standards? There are a lot of people out there who say the camera is raising the bar, and obviously, you're a skeptic. Am I right?

I would love to have the lte\one x camera on my evo3d, i'm not that great at taking pictures and would like to get better. I just like to read and found the camera comparison to be quite interesting. Maybe I should have said camera great but not the greatest? Let me add one thing, is there anyone who wouldn't want this camera on their next phone? And i mean camera only. That would be raising the bar by a huge amount.

Thats not exactly what I mean.... You don't buy the phone JUST based on the camera alone... Its the whole package.... The one x camera is great, but in these tests all the settings have to be equal and thats a user oriented thing as to how each individuals perception of a good quality image is, there are too many variables.
IMO HTCs camera settings have never been the best straight out the box... My desire hd had that issue and the same with the evo 3d, but then its to my taste and everyone's is different, unless the image is just **** lol

Glad to see people comparing the One X/EVO 4G LTE with a phone that isn't even in their hand yet.
I'm okay with the camera being only slightly better than other phones, given the amazing speed at which it takes photos.

I'm not purchasing either device,
But I've been lucky enough to play with them side by side already.
And I'm a huge HTC fan
It pains me to admit, HTC kinda lost there ass this time.

The one x camera is what they said it would be. Awesome for a smartphone! Well atleast my evo lte cam is,which I'm pretty sure it's the same. Mind you I'm 26 year's old and have a busy nightlife, this camera captures it ALL!

But, you do realize that the One Series and the EVO 4G LTE were both completed by design and announced before official rumors of the S3 was complete. So, of course Samsung would 1up the competition. It's just like if a new phone is announced later in the year, it's obviously gonna have better specs than one that was designed before.
And HTC definitely didn't lose their ass with this new phone (Especially the EVO 4G LTE). The One series is a step in the right direction for the company. No more quantity over quality. They're taking things down the right road this time.

What I meant by lost their ass is by pitching a huge marketing campaign based on the power of their new cameras and than they get beat out.
I stumbled on this post searching for something. What a dumb post. Just delete his whole thread. I myself am.dumber for reading it. Camera quality is subjective when quality is this good. No one is using a phone to take aerial photos of property to show off. HTC has a hit. S3 is good but another same looking samsung phone. What innovation there. I am a big Samsung fan but S3 is a disappointment on looks and design for its exterior.

Sorry you didn't like the article, i thought it was interesting to see a phone have a camera that good and somewhat surprised to see the htc phone rated that low. The phone was a hit at the last show because of the camera, they rated it a top 5 show item. I would think these people are more knowledgeable in the phone technology area, they certainly are smarter than mehttp://www.engadget.com/2012/06/18/nokia-808-pureview-united-states/ I did also see that engadget has their review up for the S3 and they say the S3 camera, except for a faster shutter, is not much better than the S2. They also say the camera is about the same as the htc camera. So while that makes the cameras both pretty good I guess they are not a huge leap forward.http://www.engadget.com/2012/06/20/samsung-galaxy-s-iii-review-shootout-atandt-vs-sprint/

Have a look at the quality in this picture I took, and explain how this can get beat out.

Nice picture, no doubt, but if htc took the time to install a 3d camera on last years flagship phone, maybe a year from now they could install something similar to the nokia's camera and have something that is actually a "huge" improvement. We are now shown the technology is there and is being used and mass produced.
Hello everyone, I am trying to decide between getting an HTC EVO 4G LTE or the Samsung Galaxy S3.
I would appreciate any benchmarks mention to help me with my decision, it could also help if you mention why the EVO 4G LTE is a better option.
I would consider all benchmarks.
Dude just get out. Benchmarks mean nothing & the specs on the phones are damn near equal. No need to flaunt benchmarks at all
1st & in before the lock!
The LTEVO says hello!
I can understand your frustration but looking at his join date and post count obviously he hasn't been around here too long and we shouldn't scare him away. Anyways with the us version they benchmark pretty similar although the evo seems to have a slight edge according to some tests I've seen..phone arena got a 5500 quad..which I've never gotten close to..they perform great the evo is just built a lot better and I'm not a fan of touchwiz..but that's subjective
Yeah, they are both the exact same specs....and I agree, don't choose the phone based on which performs a tad better in benchmarks.
If you must know though:
The HTC One X scores higher than both the 4G LTE and SIII. The 4G LTE scores higher all around by a tad bit in both graphical and CPU benchmarks. Although they are very close, making the difference negligible in real life applications.
The memory on the HTC EVO 4G LTE is also a good amount faster than the SIIIs, which is said to reduce the response lag in some real life applications.
TL;DR: The EVO 4G LTE scores higher than the SIII in benchmarks...

Benchmarks r higher on s3 easily btw u shouldnt decide buying a phone on basis of benchmarks ,btw my experience with s3 was slightly better i would say s3
These r my benchmarks but by default too s3 get higher benchmarks cuz it has better gpu ,and an top notch cpu .
I would say go to a store and run both of them and decide

Tony grab the soap before the lock down. Jk now seriously don't buy the one that anyone tells you to buy. Go to the store play with both of them and pick the one you like. I got the Evo because first I hate touchwiz second the evo looks more professional and third the camera and beats audio are amazing. By the way beats by dre earbud are not that great for their price. I bought the Klipsch S4A and they are amazing. Good luck budy.

I agree with a few of these guys, go to the store and test both. Don't do or buy something based on others. I chose the evo because I've never had a Samsung phone I liked. I played around with the gsIII just to make sure I didn't want to trade my evo in for it, didn't like it too much but it is a nice phone.
"We're coming from a pure power source"
Benchmarks dont mean a thing. If you are going to make your purchase based on benchmarks save yourself the headaches and just buy an iPhone.
( I kid, I kid)
But seriously, benchmarks dont matter
