Just flashed Artemis V.62 on my HD2 and it's showing only 205MB of ram available, I can't even start the camera app because I don't have enough free ram. What's causing this?
Artemis (and all 3.14 roms) MUST have spl 3.03.0000 or 3.03.hspl. any other spl/hspl will cause the issue you now have.
I have 3.03.hspl on Artemis v61.
My phone reports 333,8 RAM in X2 Task Manager. Is this normal? Camera works fine on default setttings, but I also get low memory when I try to increase the panorama resolution in registry...
Yes that's correct, 448 total minus 128 for gfx leaves 320 (333 when measured in bytes) useable.
I always thought it's the 448+128 for graphics. And 576 in total.
Shouldn't HTC HD2 actually have 576MB RAM?

Tmous has 576-128=448, regular shipped with 448-128=320,but flash a tmous rom and radio, or android with compatible radio, and it unlocks to 576-128=448 (well, 420 on android, but what's a few Meg amongst friends)

One thing that's always nagged me about (most) HTC devices is the low available program memory. I mean these are 64M devices and despite the determined efforts of our best chefs, we're lucky to see 31M of available RAM on a clean boot.
I've seen screen shots of Treo 700wx devices and they seem to boot up with over 45M free. Impressive. I hear the Treo 750 doesn't fare quite as well but still much better than the Hermes, Wizard, etc.
So two questions: what's using all that memory on (other) HTC devices and how does the Treo manage to use so much less?
PalmOS most modern devices use only arround 10mb of HEAP, the rest of the memory is for storage only. So, that means they can run an app that require more than that amount of heap, even if they got plenty of ram free. It's a very eficient aproach but more limited than the ppc (pc like) memory management.
I know all about PalmOS's primitive memory management. It's one of the reasons I gave up on them.
The Treos I mentioned are the WM5 versions though. Both are speced at 64M of RAM and both boot with much more available RAM than even our most carefully cooked ROMs.
Question
I have the official AT&T Rom what can I do to free up some more RAM I got 7mb free right now?
I would like to know if a ROM with TouchFlo 3D can be made for Gene?
I haven't seen any such ROM, so if not they why?
THanks
it cant be done... cause gene does not have a dedicated graphics chip
And, come on! We have only 64 MB RAM (where as the entry level TF3D Phone - Diamond has 192 MB (64 MB Dedicated for Graphics).
BTW it has been discussed before.
I have a raph500 and all the forums say it has crippled ram and in my eyes crippled means its there but you can't use it so i browsed the net and found this info here
pdadb.net/index.php?m=pdacomparer&id1=1389&id2=1311&id3=1386&id4=1547&del_id=1389[/url]
it says the raph500 has 192mb and only 113 is usable
and i also read about the XIP and how it controls everything including ram addresses and blocks so i was wondering if it is possible to get that info from the XIP on the phones with the same ram size (raph100,raph110,diam400) and put it in for the raph500 to use the rest of the ram i dont have the knowledge to do this to try it out its just an idea that makes sense if some one finds a way to do this i am willing to help any way i can
sorry for the lack of grammar
It is crippled because everyone else has 288 MB RAM. Usable RAM is Base memory minus OS Load = Usable. For example, on my TP2 I have 288MB Ram ... System steals 100 MB, leaving 188..... open processes use 90 so I have only 98 out of 288. You would only have 6 MB free in this same scenario. Hope this helps.
question
first off i have touch pro verizon and i'm trying to find some or some way to uncripple my phone if possible. i have raph 800 (i believe) and its unlocked and where can i get raph 500 so that i can put it on my phone and what is the difference be 500 and 800.
Touch Pro and Touch Pro 2 are all the same guts (288 MB RAM and 528 MB ROM)
You cannot "uncripple" your phone. Sorry it is just the way Verizon ordered them from HTC.
RAPH 800 (288MB RAM) is the sprint touch pro. RAPH 500 (192 MB RAM) is Verizon. So you already have a RAPH 500. These device codes are specifically different varieties that HTC makes per order of the Telecom Company...... nothing you can do to change it.
Sorry, but your only option for a fast system is to find a Light Rom. You may want to check out Lunacie on PPCGeeks. He makes a pretty good light rom for the Touch Pro.
is it possible to have raph 800 on a verizon phone?
not anymore. Used to be able to have verizon re-program your ESN..... but they wont do it anymore. If you used some creative web searching, there is also information about *faking* certain information to get a sprint phone on verizon network. (or you could use any other CDMA carriers phone.)
i have a phone from 08, but you said that its not possible to do anymore?
Please see above comment about "creative searching" if you look on either google or this site about changing providers and keeping your phone, you would be amazed what you can find.
Hi Guys,
I recently looked under Memory in Settings and found it was showing only 448MB of Total RAM. AFAIK TMO USA HD2 has 576MB of usable RAM. Am i mistaken, or is it same for everyone.
I have the NRGZ 20th Dec Cookie 2.0 ROM flashed on my phone.

448MB is okay and normal.
448 user ram plus 128 graphics ram = 576 total ram
ok got it thanks guys
who told, that the missing 128 megs are dedicated to the gpu...? this seems to be a bit too much for me, especially if compared with the rest of the specs of the adreno unit...

128MB is use as graphics
Just wondering...how much RAM the original HD2 had? It had 448MB right?
So was it like 320+128?
yep, it's "public opinion" that these 128mb are reserved for graphics; but who wrote / said this, what's the source for this "fact"? can't find anything, neither here nor in www.
i'm asking this because i can't believe, that this amount is reserved for gpu only, as it seems way too oversized for a gpu with the capabilities of the adreno. in my humble opinion 64mb are too much, too...
Could it be a case of bloated specs by tmob?
go read the spec sheet for the snapdragon, particularly the graphics capabilities, the triangles per second and what not. that's why it needs the ram.
can anyone please tell me why my phone is showing just 349 mb's of total ram instead of 512 ram, while my 7 surround shows 475 instead of 512.
475 is ok but 349 in my titan is not considerable.
Where do you see your ram? Anyway if is a program it could be 2 things or its showing the memory not on use or it takes off the memory reserved for the GPU but the Titan has 512 ram sure

Actually i am using phone info it is showing that total memory is 349 mb and available memory is 193 mb. I used the other programs from marketplace but the same result.
I don't see why this would be an issue even?
I actually want to know that is there any issue with my phone or it is same amount of ram with all the titans. Please check in your phones.

Mine is 352MB. Looks like you are short changed
J/K. It's all the same.
On the other hand, my Galaxy S2 has 1GB of ram (800+ MB reported) and running dual core 1.2 GHz CPU. And yet, it still managed to be slower/slugish than my Titan running 1.5Ghz single core and 349MB of RAM.
I checked that, you have that ram 349mb because 150 Mb of ram are reserved for the graphic GPU, like in the integrated GPU of laptops, you have 512MB of ram but the system only sees the part that is not reserved for te graphics

Thanks for your replies, now i am able to understand the concept of ram usage.
