[Q] why ram is just 349 mb's - HTC Titan

can anyone please tell me why my phone is showing just 349 mb's of total ram instead of 512 ram, while my 7 surround shows 475 instead of 512.
475 is ok but 349 in my titan is not considerable.

Where do you see your ram? Anyway if is a program it could be 2 things or its showing the memory not on use or it takes off the memory reserved for the GPU but the Titan has 512 ram sure

Actually i am using phone info it is showing that total memory is 349 mb and available memory is 193 mb. I used the other programs from marketplace but the same result.

I don't see why this would be an issue even?

I actually want to know that is there any issue with my phone or it is same amount of ram with all the titans. Please check in your phones.

Mine is 352MB. Looks like you are short changed
J/K. It's all the same.
On the other hand, my Galaxy S2 has 1GB of ram (800+ MB reported) and running dual core 1.2 GHz CPU. And yet, it still managed to be slower/slugish than my Titan running 1.5Ghz single core and 349MB of RAM.

I checked that, you have that ram 349mb because 150 Mb of ram are reserved for the graphic GPU, like in the integrated GPU of laptops, you have 512MB of ram but the system only sees the part that is not reserved for te graphics

Thanks for your replies, now i am able to understand the concept of ram usage.

[Q] [HELP ME] My folio100 has 1GB ram, who's with me?

I've heard that you guys have folio100s with 512MB ram,
But mine has 1GB ram, dunno why....
now that I flashed Dexter's Mod foliomodv1.4,
which is a 512MBRAM version,
Now my OS cannot recognize all of my RAM, it just recognizes 751MB of the 1GB.
the data is gotten from typing 'free' in console mode.
what should I do to find the hidden part of my ram back to work?
I've tried CyanogenMod7, and it's worse, the ram decreases to exactly 512MB.
Thx to anyone who will help me with this!Sincerely!
How do you know there is really 1Gb ram in your folio ? Don't you think it's probably just a bug showing 1 gb intead of 512 mb?

it says so on the label at the back side beside the battery.
and when I'm on native rom the 'free' command shows 990MB free memory, and I always use up to 700+MB ram running all kinds of apps.
but however, as everybody knows, the native rom sucks.
so, is there a way I can adjust the foliomod to yield some more ram?
OK. I was a bit surprised and was thinking that it could be due to a bug.
Unfortunatly I have no answer to your problem.
Is this one of the new batch that was supposed to relaunch in April, or are you just lucky?
I have that label too that says my folio has 1gb ram, Bought my folio about 2 months ago?

The native rom will tell you your total ram is 990MB. And you can experience great multitasking !
So, dude, wr are the minority, we should try to fix it, don't you think?
I bought my Folio a month ago and only have 512 Mb reported by Cyanogen.
Do someone know why there are some differences here ?
Mine has 512 mb ram, and 1gb for app installation.
Maybe the inscription in the box is 1gb of ram , for app.
If you really do have 1 gb of ram, lucky you
Ill check that out, ill post my results here then

who would continue with this problem?
I am still confused, I recently have returned to the native rom and obtained the latest official update, it is really stable, with touchscreen responsive, though poor graphic performance(opengl1.1) and wrong direction of sensor in some games.
but the ram reported is the same as foliomodv1.4, that is, 751MB, don't you think it is interesting? it's like the DDR2 ram has 8 blocks with each 128MB, and foliomod has discovered only 6 of them, while Cyanogenmod discovered only 4 of them, that's why Cyanogenmod reports 482MB total ram.
in fact, seen from the dissembly pictures sent from a guy in China like me, there really are 8 similar blocks on the chipboard, with 128MB written on each block as the guy told.
So what do you think, guys? Is it possible to find the hidden memory blocks and get them to work? I think it is highly possible, for different roms report different total ram, and some of them well exceeds the assumed 512MB, that's an implication that some of the folio100 really are bestowed with 1GB ram, rather than 512MB. So why can't there be a rom that makes full use of the ram?
I believe we are the last group of Folio100 users inthe world, so we are gonna stick together to make the most out of our device, guess what, newly published devices mostly have the same hardware as our folio(I mean the 1GB version), except for the screen, but I don't see it as an unacceptable shortcoming. Lower resolution sometimes mean higher performance. I've tried Backbreaker THD running on MOTO XOOM, though the graphics are good, but as I expected it isn't so smooth as running on Folio100. So disadvantages come with advantages, that's why we'll stick to Folio100, at least Before Tegra3 becomes trivial.
Expecting replies from you !! In hope of a better rom and a better tomorrow!
Me too...
CM9/ICM , it just recognizes 512MB of the 1GB.(RAM)
But FolioNotion2.0 recognizes 1G.
I can't paly games like Plants vs Zombies in CM9/ICM ,But in FolioNotion,It works perfect....
I am still confused...
folio100---512M Rom
AS100---1G Rom
Xda Rom just dev for folio100... So,we are just recognizes 512M.
but FolioNotion have recognizes 1G,Why?
1GB with foliomod 1.4
as100 with 1gb ram,and a recently flashed ics rom changed it to 375mb.......those who r confused with the 1gb ram on folio can go to search the pics of disassembly of as100 in some chinese website, after u do that u could fing that there r 8 ram chips installed on the pcb while some of the folio may only have 4installed...
i checked now my folio,...
http://db.tt/dVei7u49 on the top on the right side, is a small sticker 1GB000
CM9 shows me 364M
Is there any way to test it on cm9?

Maybe someone can test it with Ubuntu?
I have the sticker with 01GB000.
I checked the picture of the hardware (ref.http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=868617)
On one side there are 4 chip NT5TU128M8DE-AC that is a 128Mx8 DDR2-800
so 128M x 8 = 1Gbit and 4 x 1Gbit = 4Gbit = 512 Mbyte.
On the other side there is a place for additional RAM (see picture BILD2387)
If you have the chips in these place you have additional 512Mbyte of ram otherwise no.
To open this box you have to remove only the back cover and open the box with a cutter under the corner with the arrow.
In my case there aren't additional chips of RAM.
So the sticker 01G000 is not for RAM info.
Sorry.
Bye

I've just checked and there's no extra RAM for me as well.
Thank you anyway for your explaination.
I also have the AS100 model with 1GB RAM. Does any one know how to modify ROM to detect all available RAM?

Do we really have 1GB of RAM?

I have been so busy catching up with all the amazing stuff Da_G has been pumping out (thanks!) that I didn't even take a look at this until now. I am showing that we only have 733MB of avaliable RAM. That is a far cry from 1024MB.
I am seeing 733MB w/ both Android System Info and with the built-in Task Manager.
Does anyone know if we indeed have 1024MB of RAM and... if it is just assigned else where?
Yes we have 1GB every phone has RAM missing because the system is holding it.
I remember one time the OS didn't support that much not sure if that's the case now but the phone has 1GB to my knowledge and.what I've read

I have also read that is has 1GB everywhere, but missing 291MB seems like an awful lot.
I beleive my Atrix showed 897MB. I just seems like an awful lot 'mssing' w/ the Note.

I am with you on that! Makes me
I noticed the same, it's showing short but using the same app(system tuner pro) on my G2 it showed the correct 512mb.
It's not false marketing; it's fact. There is 1GB of RAM in the phone. I'm pretty sure the rest of the RAM is used by the GPU. My GS2 has the same thing, shows about 800MB of RAM available to apps.
What does it matter? I usually have 3-500MB of free RAM. Have you ever managed to fill the RAM with processes? Do you know anyone who has? Android clears old apps from memory even when there is enough free so I have never even come close to filling my RAM.
Graphics memory
As with any computer your phone has a gpu which needs graphics memory and because the gpu is integrated (SOC) it takes its memory off the top. This can be seen with any computer you have with integrated graphics it will section off some memory for your gpu.
As for the flash memory space many issues can take it down such as the file system, operating system, it just depends but trust me before the phone was turned on and android installed it had 16gb of memory and 1gb of ram
I'm about 100% CPU and GPU can't share ram as they do completely different tasks. They could have just added the cram and the ram to get 1GB though... But otherwise, the missing ram is from system tasks and the OS.

Do we have a reference or any proof of this?
And to the post directly above this, any computer that does not have a dedicated graphics card uses shared system memory, just like our phones. 733MB is just quite a bit away from 1024MB.
they can and do use the same memory because they are the same soc aka system on chip. all this is integrated.
So if you built a PC yourself and loaded it with 2gig RAM and booted into windows it would have 2 gig FREE memory?

I am not talking about FREE. I am talking about the system as a whole. Do we really have 1GB of RAM? Where it is being used I am not so concerned about at this point, but it may help us figure out if we do indeed have 1GB (Where is the remaing 291MB assigned).
The missing 291 is being used by android..to load the launcher Widgets and everything else in the background.

i have international version of note.its same way on this one.the missing ram is held by system tasks.as for 16gb storage memory.if you wipe all area on usb storage .u will have 16gb but not a working phone.another thing about free ram.dont use task manager to stop apps.all it does is make the phone lag.leave everything running.

You have 300-500 MB FREE ram? My note is bone stock and I'm running at 400/700 MB RAM (meaning 300 MB free). This is also when I "Clear memory" too. Something wrong with my apps?

Two dozen open apps on mine right now, and it shows 283 MB used, 302 MB free.
On my AT&T gs2 I consistantly show 830 to 850 MB free. On my note I only see a lil over 700. How can this have less ram than my gs2? I have over 80 app on my gs2 and less than half that on my note!!!

[Q] 512mb vs 1gb ram; noticeable difference?

Hello;
I recently purchased a 512mb version of the G9 on sale thinking it would be 1gb; turns out after installing ICS that it's still 512mb. Now I'm trying to decide whether I should keep it or return it and spend $60 more on a 1gb version.
Has anyone used both the 512mb and 1gb and noticed a difference? Should I keep the 512mb or spend more money to upgrade?
If you have any recommendations please let me know; thanks!
I had bought the 80 Hdd before with 512 mb. After a fault Archos replaced it and to my surprise it had 1.5 ghz but still with 512 mb. So I got a bump in cpu modele. When the 1gig ram came out I ordered and returned a 101 hdd with 1 gig ram for the same prices I had paid my G9 80 before.... I had to decid which one I keep...I liked the G9 80 better even with the 512 mb.
Personally I did not see anything better on the 1gig of ram. May it's the way I use the tablet. But for me I think 512 Ram is fine. (it's not the 250 from gen8)...
no big difference...
i have the twice
I find that applications persist in the background better, for example, the web browser doesn't have to reload tabs when returning to it so often. The launcher never has to reload when doing something memory intensive.
Other than this there is no real difference (speed etc.)

I only have a 1.2Ghz model but if as a example were to compare a Galaxy Nexus to a Nexus S the background performance is huge!
Sent from my ice cream powered Nexus S
I have a memory manager (for manually freeing up old apps) on my home page displaying how much free ram is available and on average it shows about 350MB free. That tells me that the quite a large portion of the 1GB ram is indeed being used and also that the 512MB would most definitely need to swap more often. How that translates to performance however is another question as depending on the apps used, swapping might not be noticeable at all. Only having the two side by side with duplicate setups and performing the exact same actions would be definitive, but hazarding a guess I would say the 1GB should outperform the 512MB in most cases where many apps are opened. Again, that might or might not be a negligible difference..

ICS Available ram too low

Why my XPS total of available ram just 63X mb?
where is the another 300 mb ram?
This is allocated by the system and will be released dynamically as needed. Don't mess with RAM management, you'll only make it worse.
Even the latest mobiles now use only 1GB RAM in spite of quadcore CPU's... and all of them somehow allocating certain RAM for internal mobile system... what I'm trying to say is, it is normal...

[Q] How much RAM your device shows?

My P765 shows 775 M.B. RAM. (See screenshot), LG claims 1 GB RAM. I know it is never exactly 1 GB but I have seen around 850-900 MB on other devices from other manufacturers with 1 GB RAM.
Mine shows 767 mb on CM10.1. I'm fairly certain our phone does have 1 gig of ram, but some of it is dedicated to the GPU.
