[Q] Moving ROM and apps from X10 to another X10 - XPERIA X10 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi there!
A very newb question:
I have setup my X10 with latest official GB rom. I rooted it and installed latest xrecovery, done fps uncap patch and music lag patch. I have all my apps up and running.
How can I transfer this whole setup from my X10 to my wife's X10? It's still 2.1 stock and unrooted.
That's what I intend to do:
First I root her phone and backup her apps with titanium backup. Then I install the rooted GB ROM and then I restore a xrecovery backup I did before on my X10. Then I only have to change the gmail account and restore her apps.
Any ideas of something missing? Will zdzihu's patches be in the backup or do I have to install them again?

1. Make sure wife phone has xrecovery installed.
2. Just do a xrecovery backup, then swap memory card over to wifes phone.
3. WIFES PHONE=
XRECOVERY >Wipe everything, then restore the backup you made onto new phone and voila!
EDIT: JUST SAW OP AGAIN, SINCE YOU HAVE OFFICIAL GB, YOU MAY WANT TO INSTALL OFFICIAL GINGERBREAD ON HER PHONE AS WELL FIRST VIA SEUS. OTHERWISE YOU MAY HAVE SOME SORT OF PROBLEM IN TERMS OF INCOMPATIBILITY.
And yes the patches will be in backup.

How Do I backup?

Hello,
I have a xperia x10a with 2.1 with latest BB+FW installed.
JIT+xRecovery installed.
I Have few questions.
1) I would like to really try out 2.2 on my x10 but I was wondering, How the backup and restore thing works on xrecovery. I want to get back to 2.1 if I want to use video recording.
2) If I go to 2.2 will I loose any data?
3) How do I backup my applications? (Titanium?) I can fairly use myphone for all my backups but how to do applications and settings since I have tons of customizations on my phone right now
4) I want to try a new theme for my 2.1 but I don't know how to restore back if something goes wrong / I want to get back to default theme. How can I do that? (I thought xrecovery would restore entire image..I.e I'm guessing I'd loose all my recent calls and stuff?)
Please clear my doubts. Thanks for your time in advance.
1) backup with xRecovery
2) Yes.
3) use Titanium
4) ThemeMaking, if something goes wrong reflash

[Q] Xrecovery - What exactly does it recover?

I'm going to flash Gingerdx rom to my X10 mini, before that I took a backup via Xrecovery.
Here is the question:
If I do a recovery what will I get? Will everything be the same the way I left it or just the applications without my personal data and settings?
I need to know, because even for an equalizer setting for poweramp, I spent whole week...
You need an app like Titanium Backup to safeguard your apps. Most custom roms require a factory reset or full wipe to work stable but then your apps are gone.
Btw. Give MyBackup Root a try. Not as fast as Titanium but more user-friendly.

xrecovery and cwm does what is called a "snapshot", "photo", "image" of your rom. so go ahead and try it out and backup. then do some changes on the rom (its ok if you change your rom), then go for the restore and check it out. you will be surprised to see it back on the same way you left it.
If you had used some applications on windows like "Acronis True Image", it is just the same (theory) way on the android on your phone.
Good luck
BTW: as pfonck described on the second post, that is for individual apps backing up and restoring.

[Q] Recovering sms, contacts and other data from xRecovery image

Hi Friends,
I messed up things here with my Xperia x10 Mini Pro (2.1-update1) .
I was trying to install GingerDX 2.3. Before installing i made a backup with xRecovery (Thank God!). After multiple attempts to boot, boot was successful on GingerDX. I forgot to make backup of my SMS & contacts and other data.
Is it possible to recover them from xRecovery back up?
Thanks

Sorry bro..it isnt posssible with xrecov .. U should always make a backup of sms through other application like mybackup pro in market n titanium for apk+data.. N sync contacts frm ur email
Gintonic.SE by slade..
Thanks faiyyaz and Others.
As you said not possible to recover for the xrecovery dump. But I have followed another method to recover which is tedious & time consuming.
I took a backup of 2.3 using Xrecovery and restored 2.1. Saved all the SMS, contacts and other needed datas. Restored 2.3 and loaded back the necessary things.
This was possible because I had a backup of 2.1.
Thanks again for your time.

[Q] Help with Backup & Restore needed!

Okay, so I've switched from .62 to MIUI and now I can't install SE Backup & Restore, which is stupid, considering the PC Companion still recognizes my phone as an MT15. I succeeded in installing one version for the X10 (found here on xda), but it doesn't do jack, it sees my backups but doesn't want to restore them (when I select one, it just goes right back to the backups list).
So, is there any way to install the original one? Unknown sources is ticked, btw. I've tried everything, downloading from 3 or 4 sources, installing to internal as well as SD Card, nothing works. I couldn't care less about the apps or the messages, but I really need the contacts.
Anyone know what could be wrong here or if there's another app to open sbf files?
I hope you took a backup with cwm.If yes restore it back and backup your contacts to memory card.Or use app like mybackup pro
If you didn't took a backup with cwm, then flash back to stock rom and restore backups you made with SE backup & restore. Then take a backup with my backup pro and move back to miui I guess.I am not sure app my backup pro works on miui or not tho.
Well, that sucks.
I was kind of hoping there was some sort of workaround for this issue. Isn't there any way to open that file? Had I known it was such a piece of junk, I would've backed up using different apps. I really don't want to flash the old rom since I just installed this one...
Thanks for the reply though

Well flashing back the old rom for 10 mins is nothing that hard,so do it I guess.btw what is this SE backup and restore(got no idea what is this tbh) ? Also MyBackup pro didn't worked with Achitjan semc debrand rom for me,so you should use something that works in miui to backup and restore I guess.
same problem here anyone has the solution

[Q] [Ques]Restore Data

I made a backup from Backup & Restore named app. And now i have installed a new rom and made a factory reset, so all the data is gone.
But the backup is in Ext Card.
The problem is the same Backup & Restore app is not in this ROM.
I cannot find that app in the playstore.
It was pre-installed i guess.
Can anyone provide me with a link or something else?
My phone: Xperia Sola
Old firmware: Stock rooted
New firmware: Tiny CM9
