Change email notification sound (different from SMS) - HTC EVO 3D

I'm having a major brainfart, or what i'm looking for doesn't exist. I use Exchange for my email and cannot find the specific place to change the email notification sound. I can turn it on or off through the email app settings, but cannot change the sound. I have the default notification sound set to one thing, but i like the email having a much shorter sound. I thought it was possible in the past....
thx

Yep, that did er. Now second question. That option is not present when not using sense correct? I'm on a sense ROM now, but have been using (and really liking) the non sense flavors....

How can I change HTC Mail app's notification sound?

The subject says is all. I can't find a setting within the app to change the notification sound. Regardless of the system's default notification sound, the app always plays the "hint" sound when I receive an email. It's a very subtle tone and I'd like to change it to something I can actually hear.
I've tried clearing defaults, the cache, and deleting the Exchange account the setting it up again, but no luck. Either something is wrong with my phone or this is just how this phone works. (Which, if it's the latter, is really stupid.)

I already did that, which is why this is so odd. The notification sound does not change regardless of the sound selected.

Yeah, I figured it out now. Thanks, all. I didn't realize that the setting was buried in the Personalize menu. I ran stock on my OG DInc for the longest time and am shamefully unfamiliar with certain parts of Sense. Plus, you could customize the notification sound from the Email app on older versions of Sense.

3 questions regarding HTC One

First question is... How can I get rid of the "Power saver off" in the notification bar? Super annoying, I haven't seen it in any of the options although I'm sure it's got to be there somewhere.
2nd question...and this is more of a general all across Android but maybe someone has an answer...why do I always have problems sending picture messages when I have good signal? I try canceling them and resending, restarting the phone, nothing. It just sits there trying to send. I've had this problem on every android phone I've had (ironically nothing but HTC since the G1). Sometimes it works fine, other times it doesn't work at all.
3rd question, I've had a custom rom on my HTC Sensation for a while w/ Android 4.2.2 Is the ability to have the power widgets in the notification bar only on 4.2? I know you can add it w/ apps but I liked it built in. Will that be my only option till we get 4.2 or am I missing that somewhere also?
Thanks for any help!

As far as I know, you can only get this with a custom ROM. I am using TrickDroid on my T-Mobile One and it's fantastic. It includes the power toggles.

Sweet. I never knew about this. It doesn't work for the Power Saver notification, but I was finally able to get rid of that darn WiFi notification! Will disabling the notification have any effect on the operation of the feature? I know I always get warnings from apps about it being more "active" with the notification turned on.
Like the other guy said, the option to disable it is grayed out. Sucks.
I do have one more question, maybe for another thread, but when someone sends a pic message, I'm not getting the full resolution, it's much worse. And the issue is not the persons phone sending it but my phone receiving it. My friend and I were both sent a pic and his phone received it on full resolution and mine was much lower. The sender was from an AT&T iPhone and my buddy that got the pic is on a Verizon android phone and I'm on the TMobile one. Is this a tmobile thing maybe?
If you're rooted, you can use the JMZ Power Saver Disabler app to get rid of the notification.

[Q] Email preview in notification pull down?

Does anyone know if the One has the option to see a preview of an email message in the notification pull down menu? I just bought this phone today and have not been able to find this setting? I thought it was a standard Jelly Bean option, but I could be mistaken.
Any thoughts?
Thanks,

I think you could just the 4.2.2 gmail apk and should work
Do you mean like this? I just sent myself a message. and that's how it looks in my notification bar. I do know that if it's a single line like WiFi TetherMod is, you drag it down using 2 fingers. So You'd drag WiFi Tether Mod down using 2 fingers and it would expand. (If the notification is capable)
EDIT: BTW, I'm using the stock Gmail app that comes out the market.

Does it look like this normally? If so, try dragging it with 2 fingers. I'm on Renovate. I don't think a ROM can add this feature. This feature is a JellyBean feature. I've had this feature on my Epic 4G Touch (GS2), as well.
The notification itself, if you drag it down with 2 fingers, it should expand. And you'd have more options and viewability. Like in my previous post.
I've also upload 2 more screenshots showing you a before and after of Google Music. It's a single bar, but if you drag it with 2 fingers it expands.
EDIT: Also it is not an option your turn on and off. By dragging, I mean the actual notification itself.

As you say, it might be in the next version. Getting this stuff early is a big reason folks root and use a custom Rom. I usually do, but just haven't felt the need with the One. It is meeting my needs right out of the box.

Any link for that? I'm not sure it would work over a stock rom, non rooted, but it is worth a try...
I'm interested. Do you have expandable notifications? I mean can you expand other notifications? I've always thought this was just a JellyBean feature and not something that could be taken out and added, or something of the sort.
I discovered that I won't get notifications unless auto sync is turned on. However, even with that on, I can't preview the notification.
I turned it back off because it also lights off the LED, which uses battery, and there is no way to turn that off separately.
I'd really rather save the battery than have constant notification of gmail messages.
The reason its not working for most of you is the battery saver notification. It is listed as a high priority/ongoing notification and essentially kills the auto expand. Expandable notifications have been in Android since 4.1 not 4.2

I'm still bone stock, no root, no mods, and I can expand my notifications (if they're expandable.) I have the notification for Power Saver, and this works whether it's toggled on or off.
You have to press and drag with TWO FINGERS to expand them. Not just one.

Sorry, you didn't say anything about "top notification" for "auto expand," what you said (or how it read) was that having the power saver notification in the notifications area was what was stopping folks from being able to expand notifications (with a two-finger swipe wasn't said, but seemed to be implied.) And I didn't think we were talking about "auto expand," but about being able to make them expand if they could...
I just did it on my stock ROM using the two finger method on the notification. I still have my Power saver notification showing also. I wish it would allow me to delete instead of archive.

[Q] Surrounding default phone app in AVATAR Rom

Hello there, I'm currently using [ROM][UNOFFICIAL BETA][CM10] Avatar ROM for Motorola Atrix MB860[Updated 17th Feb 13]
HTML:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2140902
and have been enjoying it. I installed GO contacts EX and Go Dialer EX but for the life of me I can't seem to figure out how to stop the Avatar Rom for using the default dialer when it sends or receives a call. I've gone through and looked at every option I can search through and there is nothing that allows me to uncheck / remove / ignore the default phone app.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Thanks for the reply. That was the first place I looked. Unfortunately I think the default dialer is hijacking Go Contacts/dialer EX. Go Contacts is set for the default already but the moment I dial out from it, the default dialer takes over on both outgoing and incoming calls. It's kind of annoying but I can simply get rid of Go Contacts and just live with the default. It will be a love/hate relationship It beats having the two programs competing all the time.

I've never tried it before, but root your device (if you haven't already), then go into system apps and delete the default dialer. this might work, but make sure you have your preferred dialer installed ahead of time. this is just an idea, idk if it works

It was a good idea but after I deleted dialer.apk (backed it up just in case), the system pasted a new dialer.apk in it's place (the original default one) once I launched exdialer lol. I have to admit, it is kind of comical how persistent that dialer.apk is Thanks again for the help. I think I'm stuck with it

Small gripes so far

So this is my first HTC phone and for the most part I am loving it. However, there are two things that I hate. For starters, on a Phone such as the Galaxy s4 or the iPhone, I am able to view who sent me a text on the lockscreen or who sent me a text even when the phone is secured. Now on the HTC m8, I dont get to see any of that. All I see is the number of notifications above the phone app or the messaging app. Also, I hate the fact that if I go into the texting app to view a few messages but not all of them, it will then clear the icon in the notification panel as well as the indicator above the app icon itself. It really makes it super easy to forget if I had any extra text or not.
Check settings lock screen, the m7 had a lockscreen view that showed texts. Haven't got my m8 yet to see if it's still there.

Go to Settings, then Security and click notification settings under lockscreen. I am using Sense 6.0 on the M7 but it should be the same. I actually liked the way this was handled on Sense 5.5 better than 6.
