Anyone having problems reaching a hundred percent while charging the phone?? I would charge my phone and it seem like it never reaches 100 also my charging turns green at like 91 ....so last night I monitored it a lil more closely and my phone was stuck at 99 for at least 30mins then I stepped away for a while and my phone was at 95 ...YIKES!!!! SO somehow my phone is draining even while charging?? Any ideas??

So I have an odd problem I've never seen on any of my cell phones before. I charged my phone today using the charging cable and USB wall adapter that came with my EVO 3D. I noticed that once it got to 100%, it started to discharge while still plugged in. The notification light stayed green, and under Settings > About Phone > Battery, the Battery status showed fully charged. So I went under SetCPU about an hour later and went into Info > Battery, and the battery level had dropped down to 94% even though plugged in. So what's up with this? The only things I can think of is that either I have a defective device (which I want to return anyway for the dead pixels), a bad charging cable, a bad or uncalibrated battery, or somehow my device was consuming more power than what was being supplied to it by the charger.
Anybody else have this issue before? I'm really thinking about swapping out my phone for another one before my 30 days are up. And by the way, do you think I'd have to pay a restocking fee if I want to get a replacement phone? I have all the original packaging still.
The charger just isn't charging after it hits 100%. Which saves your battery from overcharging. If you connect the cable again after taking it off it will continue charging. This has not negatively affected my battery life. Which is sitting at 50% after 15 hours.

This is normal behavior on Evo 4g and Evo 3d. Supposedly prolongs battery life...
It drops down to about 95 percent then charges to 100 then down to 95 and so on. Its bad for the battery to charge after it has reached 100 percent. so it has to drain a little before being charged again.

So, say I leave my phone plugged in all day, will it continuously drop down and then recharge itself after it reaches a certain point?
Yeah... helps keep the cells even within the battery

How far down will it drain before recharging? VintageSin said his phone is at 50% after sitting plugged in for 15 hours. I'm wondering if it's possible to bring the battery down to 0%.
You misunderstood his post.hes saying the charging method has not affected his phone as its still at 50% after 15hrs.

Im assuming the phone is unplugged because the phone starts to recharge the battery at 95%.I have also noticed this cycling.

It drops to about 95% before charging again. The 50% you seen mentioned was only on battery power.

Hmm... interesting. That would explain why my battery is down between 95% to 100% whenever I wake up in the morning after leaving my phone plugged in overnight.
Does anybody know why there's a boost in battery % when the phone reboots?
Is it a software bug or a battery problem?
Sent from my LT22i using xda premium
mine does that to with 1.54 software...
Even worst, last night I've left my phone charging and when I checked it this morning it had 1% lol wtf?... it stayed 12hours plugged in... rebooted it and it started charging again.
Going back to stock rom from the carrier... or .544 file.

Nonsence , i started using the stock kernel and i got AMAZING battery life , it surpasses double the sustainability ...
*note the spikes that go up is not me charging , sometimes when i look at the phone for example is 25 % and when i wake it up after an hour or so its like 30 % , idk why this happens but it happend like 3-4 times
Well... Don't know why then. ..
Maybe i have a defective phone or battery.
Anyway, i just flashed again the .544 firmware, updated through ota to .54 , and didn't root this time just to check things out.
Either i have a software issue or defective phone/phone charger.
I noticed someone telling that the phone should charge in about one hour and mine doesn't do that. The two times i charged it, it took a lot longer. In almost two hours it reached about 70%.. so there is/was something definitely wrong.

i kept my XP switched off for an hour and in that time its battery percentage decreased from 97% to 85%
weird
Yeah...do you have your phone rooted?

its about calibration, you use it, it drains more, so it shows % of battery remaining like using, turn sleep mode for a while, battery will calibrate and show you more % because phone doesnt drain much

I understand your point of view but that does not make any sense, since no other brand does that type of reading.
I'm sure it is a software glitch or malfunction that causes.
The remaining battery % is the battery you have left. I've never heard of a % if you use it and % if it's idle, and IMHO doesn't make sense.
If anyone could confirm this, would be great.
tks
I also experience a boost of 1-2% when I leave the phone idle for hours..But the flickering values during reboot-isnt that an inefficient usage of the battery by the OS? Can it b fixed? It sucks to reboot the phone often to increase my battery...But it only works around 2-3 times in a single charge session..after that it drops during reboot

casca-the phone charging fully in an hour is simply bogus...It takes an extra 1-2 hrs after hitting 100% to reach the "Battery Full" state..

Yeah mate, true. Mine takes about 50 minutes to reach 80% and another 60 minutes to reach 100%.
From what i have read on a couple of reviews the Xperia P has quick charge mode until the battery reaches about 80%
The Battery can b made more efficient..the extended standby mode is a life saver,..but what's the point of not using the phone?...wish the "extra charge" during reboot gets fixed when jb releases..What's the maximum backup for u all? I once got around 50 hrs,via frequent reboots...

Android 4.0.4 may have this problem
So, there's no fix right?
i have xperia p and sometimes when i put it on charger for example when its down to 3% it starts to charge but not raising percentage but when i reboot it shows real status.so its charged but somehow percentage bugged
where are you from and what file did you flash? generic world or central europe?
normal problem
I think it's a normal "problem",
while rebooting it's clearing the battery-cache.
and it's not only on your Xperia P, it's on iPhone too

Same here ics is so bugged..what does it take for Sony to give a clean version...JB might b even worse...
it was actually weirder than that guys... the phone was loosing battery % with the charger on!
for instance, if I pluged the phone at 40% at night, in the morning i would have 1% of battery... so, not only was the phone not showing the charge going up, it was actually showing it going down! lol
anyway, I think it has been solved and I the problem was I've flashed the generic world version instead of central europe one.
tks for the posts.
I'm trying to charge my battery to 100% and it's been sitting at 99% for a good while now. My battery life has been pretty abysmal and I've been trying to figure out if it's the apps I have installed or if it's the actual batter on the phone.
Does anyone know a lot about batteries? Is this normal? Does this mean I should seek a replacement?
So, 99% charge on the 5v/1a charger for a good 20 minutes now, still at 99%.
Phone will die in 6-8 hours.
Sometimes phone shuts off when still reading 4% battery left.
What's the prognosis docs?
Charging from 99% to 100% usually takes a while but even more so on HTC phones. Just give it a while until it shows 100% and the led light turns green.

It's been an hour lol.
Unplug it then plug it back in, it will jump to 100%.
it does that really slow because it's at a trickle charge above like 95%. so it's not pulling at 1amp anymore, and it slowly hits 100. it's a safety measure so that it doesn't stay at 100% all the time
Yeah, that happens on all phones. It shouldn't take an hour, though. Try what orangechoochoo said, just unplug it and plug it back in.
I know on my ipod and on my friends' iphones, if you unplug it while it's in the 99%-~100% zone it'll drop down to like 90% since it's not "really" charged. I think sometimes the battery % while charging is just a little optimistic.
it might not actually be sitting at 99, unless you've actually just been watching the percentage for the full hour. i've seen on other phones that it will go back and forth bw 99 and 100 once it hits a certain point
Is anybody else having the problem of their phone not charging higher than 90% ? I woke up this morning and my phone was on 86 % after being on the charger all night and now my phone won't charge up past 90%.
No problems here. Goes to 100% on both wired and wireless charger.

Your phone first will not actually charge to 100% and also will stop charging at "100" and go down to 90 and charge and then discharge... you get my point. Do not leave it plugged in overnight.
my only goes to 99%...but i think thats fine...
After I installed beans14 my phone was charging extremely slow, and by slow I mean I left it on the charger when I went to bed and woke up five hours later I had only gained about 50% charge. That was about a week ago and my phone hasn't started charging normally again. And now it's to the point of discharging even while it's on the charger. When I check gsam it shows the OS as one of the biggest draws on the battery. Also the gallery is usually 5% of the draw as well even though I never use it since I have quick pic. Here is a screen shot of what gsam shows Atm. And I am now on the t-mobile tweaked Verizon rom
