[Q] Receiving "Application Updates Available" should I? - HTC EVO 3D

I have been receiving messages that there are updates available. One was an update for the lock screen and a couple other things and now I get one that just says "Application Updates Available." Should I do these updates now that I have rooted my 3VO? When I had a HERO the ROMs seemed not to block the updates from coming through. Sorry if I sound noobie

Just a couple of apps. Not gonna hurt a thing.

Thanks, you just never know. Ya know?

If it will unroot your phone, it will be a large download.

I accepted that update after I rooted, no issues at all.

It took on mine over wifi. I never activated my 3D so I don't get 3G or 4G.
In fact the only reason I have it is because I tried to play green hornet movie and said update required so I have it even if I'm not sure I wanted it. Lol
Then I tried sprint tv app and again... UPDATE REQUIRED! I guess I won't be using that app .

Update or virus?

Yesterday when I turned on the wifi on my GS2 I've received a pop up msg saying there was an update. I clicked on cancel and then went to settings, about the phone, updates and tried to update...to my surprise there was no updates available.
Could this be a virus? I've ran AVG and Bitdefender and they could not find anything.
Are you sure it said there was an update and not that it wanted to check for an update? I had a similar one that fooled me for a minute..I guess its because I always live in hope of one....

Maybe it's an update for an app in the market?

you using the stock messaging app or secondary? if your using like go sms etc.. you would need to go into the notification setttings of the primary messaging app and turn the notifications off...
I'm using stock

This used to happen to me too, but I was thinking there was an update that fixed this. I see you are stock, locked, and hboot 1.5, so have you checked for OTA updates? (Yes, dirty words here, but if you aren't rooted and not planning it anytime soon, OTA updates can't hurt THAT much.)
Sorry, but I'm thinking that's what I did...OTA update.
Also are you by chance roaming? Sometimes I have seen a glitch were you end up getting the same text twice..

Has anyone had trouble with the software update

Everytime I go to check for a software update it starts checking then goes off quickly without telling me if there was one or not. Any suggestions?

I was in the same boat as you. Check out this thread:

You can check the first and last post in that. The way I got around it was by activating my sim in another rezound and then swapping back into my original and it all of a sudden worked. Dont really know why, but i know another person got it working that way too.

i believe it to be related to facebook. i think i would get it when updating friendstream. twitter would update facebook wouldnt then i would get the error.
Has nothing to do w fb as I don't even touch fb on the phone and if I do its in a browser I have got this using xda app

I think it is related to friendstream as well. I have seen it, and i think the message is from sense and not necessarily related to the app that is open.
Ahh, thank God I'm not the only one.
Check Me Out On The Google Play Store!!!

Yeah, I get it from time to time too.
Whew! I have joined the masses with this nuisance of a message. Trying to find out what it is too and what is causing it.
I did a fresh flash of viper and I don't get it anymore, it has to with syncing one of the accounts because when I was setting up my fone for the "first time" I got the msg "Content Updated" and I haven't seen it since
It's the xda app
