I have bought Vibrant with CM7 on it... Does that mean that I already have GB bootloaders installed or I have to flash them if I want to flash other GB ROM?
Just cuz u have cm7 doesn't mean the Gb bootloaders r on it

Most likely you have to ODIN back to flash if you want to switch ROMs from CM7 unless it's MIUI
So flash a GB bootloader!
CM7 Can use either Froyo or Gingerbread bootloaders. Chances are you do not have the GB bootloaders. You should Odin back to stock (I would suggest Eugene's 2.2 bc it is pre-rooted) then odin the GB bootloaders.
Ok. Thank you all

Hi! I'm really ashamed of myself for asking this but here it is, if I'm on JFD obviously do i have the eclair/froyo bootloaders? I'm asking because on the current CM7 roms right now are required to be on froyo bootloaders. I didn't flashed any gingerbread bootloaders ever.
I know how to flash CM7 but i didn't do anything about the bootloaders in the past while the new roms out today really confused me and i haven't really flashed for a while now.

If you never flashed GB bootloaders, you're on Froyo bootloaders.

agree...you can also check by trying ur combo keys to get into download mode...for froyo bootloader(make sure ur phone is off) is volume up + volume down and plug ur usb that should get you in download mode..if it does than u definitely have a froyo bootloader
I have never flashed any bootloaders. But after reading a thread about going to jt's vanilla rom. It said to odin gingerbread bootloaders. I'm currently running miui mtd.. It seems to run fine.. I did a stock restore before I did it, does this mean I have eclair bootloaders? And what would flashing new ones effect?

I'm currently using the Simply Stock gingerbread rom, and I flashed gingerbread bootloaders. I may want to try some of the new ICS roms coming out, but I want to be sure I know what I'm doing first.
Would attempting to flash back to stock 2.2 brick my phone with the gingerbread bootloaders? Do I need to revert the bootloaders first? Thanks in advance.
u can flash from the jvt rom you have now just fellow the guide in the op, you will have to flash the ics rom twice .but if u want to go back to stock use this guide and going back to stock would not brick you phone.

Gingerbread bootloaders are backward compatable with froyo and eclair no need to worry or change them. I prefer them because of the button mapping.
They also work with ICS. I have them and am running ICS Passion and have also tried all the other Vibrant and I9000 ics roms with them.
I also went striaght to ICS from DarkyROM 10.2.2 (2.3.4 JVQ)
hello everyone i want to asked that any gingerbread rom that run without GB Bootloader for vibrant
Why not just flash a GB bootloader if you want to run a GB rom? Do a search for Gingerbread bootloaders, or custom Gingerbread bootloaders for Vibrant.
You should be set then. If you run Gingerbread rom on Froyo bootloader, I believe you get a funky rainbow screen.. Not run into that problem myself.

If you're going to run a GB (Gingerbread) rom then you actually don't need a Gingerbread Bootloader for it to function properly. Gingerbread Bootloaders are recommended for ICS (Ice Cream Sandwich) roms, which are known to have an issue known as "rainbows" when running with a Froyo Bootloader. Anyhow, if you still wish to use a Gingerbread Bootloader (although it is not necessary for a GB rom) you can find a dedicated thread here.
my friends also have vibrant and he change bootloader to GB bootloader.
when he stock back using odin his phone is dead no response no power button works that why i dont want to change bootloader
I also think you will get rainbows on boot with any I9000 GB ported ROM.
Ive Odin'd to JFD many times after flashing the GB bootloaders with no real issues. You could flash the GB bootloaders and if you ever have to Odin to JFD (Stock) reflash the Froyo bootloaders before.
thank you very much both of you for your replies

CyanogenMod 7 can both use either the stock or the Gingerbread bootloaders. I tried the latest nightly earlier and it was pretty great!
edit: Opps, I forgot the download link. You find it at get.cm (the CyanogenMod download center)!

I have upgraded Vibrants many times. I was upgrading a gingerbread bootloader to Froyo 2.2. Hard brick, sent out for JTAG Riff repair $30. I think I might of had a corrupt bootloader.
My question: Can I just flash the entire gingerbread, will that automatically add the bootloader?

T959V 1.8.5 ICZen
Unfortunately no it won't give you the Gingerbread bootloader when you flash a Gingerbread ROM. In fact there are a few GB ROMs that require GB bootloaders before you even flash them.
If you go to my Repo thread in the Dev section, there is a stock JFD with GBbl's already packaged in. Flash that through Odin like you would normally do a flash to stock and there you have it.
Also, I am betting that this is a typo, but your sig says T959V. It also says ICZen, so that is making me lean towards the typo. Just to clarify though, you have the SGH-T959 (3g) and not the SGH-T959v (4g), correct?
Typo indeed. I have multiple Vibrants. I bricked the T959V with Froyo. I have ICZen on the T959 old.
