Which CM7 build do you guys think would be best to pull aosp apks from such as camera, clock, mms, etc? I tried D2 and the camera forcecloses, even with correct permissions.
You have to build them and point the resources to your framework. Some aosp apps will work but the camera needs the drivers to go with it.

Ok thanks.

Hi all,
like many I've seen in here, I love the features and designs of the custom ROMS, but there are a few apps from SE which we like to keep. The thing is, if I copy and paste them into system/app and set permissions, the apps still don't work, they force quit. What do you do to make them work? E.g. original calendar, alarm etc.? do you need to copy SE settings.apk or something else?
Thanks
You cant install them because those apps are not compatible with custom roms

Huh? I've read some people say here that they've installed some original SE apps like alarm etc.
Also, I have successfully installed the newest version of the phonebook and dialer and the original camera - they're really nice.
But I can't install the others - I especially want the original alarm, calendar (the SE one doesn't require internet, it is ABSURD to require a connected account and internet for a quick look at a calendar, and I do not want or need appointments in my phone), notes etc.
What rom do you use?

I've been using GingerDXv15 but just installed MiniCM2.1. Again, the camera and phonebook from newer SE roms are working fine in both...but the rest of the apps, no.
From newer SE roms, not from SE 2..1

Umm
Camera - SE 2.1
Phonebook - SE 2.3
It is because standard apps require stuff from SE framework. Custom Roms use CM framework.
You would need to either modify the app or the framework to fix dependencies.

Could you please provide me the link of apps? I also want to have stock camera.
Sent from my X10mini using XDA App
Hi, the camera doesn't work in every ROM but I'm currently test MiniCM and it definitely works, in fact, the newer framework (ArcMini theme) makes it better than it did in stock 2.1 if you ask me.
So copy it to system/app using Root Explorer with these permissions:
x x
x
x
For MiniCM, there is the stock Android camera in there, I just left that there (for the video) because the stock camera doesn't use the video, it closes the app. I use the same permissions with the phonebook.
P.s. these mods of apps are not of my creation, thank you to those who provided them (I collected them a long time ago on here). Thank you!
I have looked through the forums here and didn't quite find what I was looking for. I recently started using liberty x2 and love it. However, I am a fan of the AOSP camera that nitro had in many of his Eclipse ROMs. I would like to push that camera into liberty. Is this possible? Do I have to change permissions? Does the gallery still work from within the camera app?
I have never tried this before and wasn't sure where to even begin. I'm sorry if this question has been answered. I know it is noobish but I just am not sure what I am doing. Thanks for the help in advance.

Pull the camera apk from an Eclipse build (/system/app) and push it to liberty (same location that you pulled it). Set permissions to:
xx-
x--
x--
x=a check mark
Remove the blur camera apk and reboot.
Liberty has aosp gallery so it will work from w/in the aosp cam. Eclipse RC 3 has the aosp cam. MIUI was used a lot in Eclipse builds...He recently went back to aosp installed, i believe.
Any questions just PM me.
Edit: i use Root Explorer to push apps.

The calendar is S-Planner!
He probably is looking for the widgets it came with most ics roms don't have them

I too am using a custom ROM that does not have the S Planner. Is there an apk for the S Planner found on the Stock Note ROMS?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using xda premium
No on some of the custom roms its not using touchwiz which is only the one that uses it
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using xda premium
Unless you are running touch wiz, you cannot use S Apps because they require the framework from touch wiz to work.
The same for widgets, if you run any other launcher you will lose the widgets for the S Apps until you revert back.
Maybe I'm losing my mind (or I've been up for 24 hours straight ) but if TW libs and framework is truly added to CM9/10-based ROMs as mentioned here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1876019
Then why doesn't a simple push of the SIMPlanner.apk, SIMPlannerProvider, and SPlannerAppWidget to /system/app (with appropriate permission changes, of course) work?
I flashed & have TW on my Note which BTW is currently running Collective's CP3, and the Weather Widget works just fine... but I'm having a hard time wrapping my head around why the rest of the Samsung apps that seem to rely on TW framework won't work, especially if by the weather widget working, the framework is installed and obviously working on CM10 (which some other posts seem to say won't work) ?

Maybe they don't use all required framework...
Touch Wiz. What good is AOSP/AOKP if it strips the features I love?
Anyone successfully instal snote to aosp rom? I have the apk but won't let me instal it. Is there another similar app?
Sent from my SCH-I605 using xda app-developers app
Maybe move it to system/apps and change the permissions to rw-r-r. I don't have the patience personally to run cm10 right know with all the tiny bugs in it.
Sent from my rooted, and unlocked Vzw note 2 running beans Rom! U mad?
Most (if not all) S-pen functionality is closed source and built into the TouchWiz framework. The pen itself just acts simply as a normal stylus in AOSP based ROMs. There are alternative apps out there that do some of the same things as s-note but expecting the same experience on an AOSP ROM isn't a reality.
Hello,
Probably a very silly question, but I was just wondering whether or not this would work.
Seeing as the status bar, etc are a part of the SystemUI.apk on Android, would simply copying and pasting the file/s from a HTC One S into the same folder/s on the EVO 3D allow for the semi-transparent status bar?
I only ask because of the similarity in screen resolution, or am I missing something out of the equation?
(PS I'm trying to learn as much as I can )
If your using vipers ROM or any ROM that has a tweaks package, fc's, FC's system.ui will force close, tweaks packages has a modded systemui.apk and other files ( framework.res.apk).

Okay, so taking the original files from the S wouldn't work. What about the modded systemui/etc, if I took those and put them into the correct folders, would they work, or...?
No, any ROM with tweaks will fc, now if you want to take the all the files from one phone and force them into your system, well just make sure you do a nandroid because you'll have to restore your system, try this, no guarantee it will work but worth a shot.http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1633333

Ahh, see, I'm on stock Sense 3.6, and was wondering about putting the framework and stuff over for the transparent status bar. I have a Sense 4.0 style launcher that's absolutely brilliant, and pairing it with the transparent status bar, well, it'd look great!
I just wondered if it'd work
I'll give the thread a read
