[Q] Sprint Advantage Plan - Motorola Photon 4G

I got signed up through a friend on this Advantage Plan. Sounds like a good deal and I was excited to get the Photon, but when i went to pick my phone from the website, is wasn't there. Is there anyone else that has tried to get this phone on the Advantage Plan?

It's because it hasn't been released yet...
... to Sprint employees or their Advantage account holders. We're still waiting for the official announcement but rumor has it that possibly some time next week.

Thanks for the reply, I guess i'm just going to wait patiently...

Radioshack, best buy and target already have this promo going for their employees

Can someone enlighten me on the benefits of the Advantage plan? Also how much does it cost?

200 for the phone 30 for the plan without insurance

Sprint ERP and Advantage lines will be able to purchase the Motorola Photon on the 17th. It was in this month's Playbook.

Ahh... thanks for the heads up. Us "in the rear with the gear" employees don't typically have access to those sources.

Thanks for the replies! Waiting eagerly for the 17th to come around.

I do not think they can change a sero plan. I believe you would need to go through Sprint for that one........
upgrade the plan before the phone comes out. then prepare to spend awhile in the store while they try to figure out how to manually process the sale over the phone with sprint.
much better off dealing with sprint directly if possible (for sero-p)

where do you see that you can order on the sprint website? Also, they are suppose to send us an email so we can order early, does that mean we can pick up the phone early or just order it early?
off subject.......... I used an older employee email and I received a 12% discount on my bills now.

BestBuy(and other) upgrade checkers say I'm fully eligible now, Sprint.com says...

on their website I'm only eligible for the $75 upgrade now and on 9/1/2011 I am eligble for the full upgrade.
BestBuy.com(RadioShack.com, Amazon.com...) upgrade checker says I'm fully eligible as of this past June 1st. I have a preorder at my Best Buy. Should I worry about what the Sprint website says will I be ok based on what the BestBuy upgrade checker says?
I need to call Sprint tomorrow and change my plan from SERO to SERO-P before Friday, so I'm wodering if I should just let the upgrade thing go as is and be ok or try to get them to give me an early update.
Anyone else see these different dates between the oline upgrade checkers and what Sprint lists?
FYI, My 2 yr contract is up 11/1/2011.
Thanx
You get an upgrade every 22 month for silver members. Your contract ends 11/1 and your upgrade is 9/1.

That's what I expected, but all the other online upgrade checkers show me my 11/1 contract end date(correct) and a "fully eligible" date of 6/1. I'm just wondering if it's something specific to these stores allowing earlier upgrades.
Doesn't the information that Best Buy and others display comes directly from Sprint anyway?
Well, I gave Sprint a call directly and according to them I am currently eligible for the full upgrade and was eligible as of June 1st, which is what the upgrade checker was saying.
Not sure why, cause I was expecting the 9/1 date, but I'm not gonna argue.
As a side note, man was that a pleasant experience with Customer Service. It's NOTHING like it used to be. Kudos to Sprint on that one.
Just curious why you need to upgrade to SERO-P before Friday? Why not just do it when you get the phone? They can do it all right there when it's ordered.
So the $199.99 is only good if you are upgrade-eligible? Not a blanket pricing for a new two year contact?

Right. But people have been lucky with Telesales and Retention and are getting their dates changed so that they can get the 2-year price now.

I sent a tweet to @sprintcares and asked if I could upgrade without penalty. They sent me a reply back within five minutes and after exchanging an e-mail, they allowed me to upgrade now. I'll be ordering my 3d soon.
The store I am getting my 3d from has already said I have the full upgrade, and that it is only good till june 30th. If I go past june 30th I have to wait till november. Now I'm not sure what that means but I'm not gonna argue...Especially since the site tells me, that november is my upgrade date.

[Q] Any discounts available for a new customer?

I am thinking about coming to Verizon. I am on Sprint now with 2 lines with data on both. Because of a recent billing change I can get out of my contract until Saturday, March 10th. Sprint has went downhill in my area over the past year or so, but their prices are still good. I am looking to get a discount of some sort to help deal with the price difference. I will be getting 2 smartphones with data (likely used month to month at first until newer phones come out). I work for a small electrical contractor in a small town so I won't be eligible for a employee discount. Is there any tricks I can use to get a discount? Maybe somebody else's work email or something like that? If anybody knows anything please post or PM me with details/ link to thread/ anything. Thanks
I don't plan on signing a contract immediately because I would like to wait on HTC's next big phone. I have had the Evo3d since launch day and am a smartphone junky, so I don't think I could handle such similar phones for almost 3 consecutive years with no upgrade. I would like to go ahead and sign a contract now, use a used phone in the meantime and have an upgrade waiting on me when I get ready to use it, but the customer sales rep for Verizon said that wasnt possible. If anybody has any input, info, or advice please help me out. I have to swap carriers and get my 2 numbers ported before the end of the day Saturday, or I'm stuck with Sprint for another 14-16 months...That would be AWEFUL!
Thanks!
Can't you terminate your contract with sprint, but just stay on month to month without the contract?
getting discounts here isnt as easy as it was on sprint. i came from sprint, all you needed was an email and you were set. here they want proof of employment or if they use email, they send confirmation to that email from what ive seen. not to your own email. but those are few companies that do that so its harder. lol

No.. What they do is waive the ETFs AFTER you've ported out in a case like this.
Trust me.. they more than pushed me out last month with their attitude about the whole thing.
Sprint did indeed go downhill and while it is cheaper and truly unlimited.. you AREN'T getting what you're paying for anymore. VZWs 3G speeds blow away sprints and let's not even talk about 4G because it's night and day too. Sprint isn't even going to expand their current 4G network (wimax) because of the soured relationship with Clear. Oh and by the way... my 4G works just as fast indoors as it does outdoors. After 9 years with sprint that contract change was the final straw.
Make sure you get in during the double data deal because i'm not sure i would be comfy with a 2GB monthly cap.

unfortunately not. The guy I talked to said I have to be off the network completely by March 10th or I am stuck for the remainder of my contact. I have read that a few were allowed to go month to month and many that had 30 days after they called, but the rep told me it is 30 days from the February billing cycle. I just found out about this today and called right after work. So I have basically 3 days to have my numbers ported over to Verizon or I am out of luck.
Anybody have an account with no discount for 2 lines, 700 minutes, unlimited text, and 2gb(4gb under promotion) on both? If so what does it end up being after all taxes, surcharges, etc? I pay $167.XX on Sprint right now, and really hope Verizon can keep it under $200.
What if you port to att or verizon off contract? Then just port the number back to sprint off contract.

Somehow I think that would be a nightmare-ish idea.. especially if the OP needs his line for work.
If you need to port that quick you'll also need to do an in-store purchase. I think $167 for the package you stated is probably close to doable. You'll also get much more friendly/helpful customer service with verizon. Playing devil's advocate you should also be aware that verizon's mobile to mobile only includes other VZW customers unlike sprints any mobile to mobile.

That sound very tempting to try, but just sounds risky. I know I have read somewhere that if you cancel your contract on Sprint and come back within 30 days that you basically are just on your same old contract again. I maybe wrong, or whoever said it may have been wrong, I don't remember where I read it. But if someone has experience doing something like this I would love to here about it. It would at least get me through until HTC releases a quad core, or s4 based phone.

If you like HTC phones like i do.. just compare the specs of the verizon phones to the sprint phones (htc->htc). You'll see that verizon has much better specs on the phones than sprint too.

The on network mobile to mobile is now problem, because 90% of the people around here have Verizon anyway. The package I put together online was about $173 (before taxes and surcharges) , but I think I had insurance for 2 rezounds for that price.

I have to disagree. My Evo3d is very similar to my coworker's rezound . It has basically the same processor only .3ghz slower, same amount or RAM, same screen size, QHD screen vs 720p (the difference is honestly not noticeable when held side by side) and it came out about 4 months before. Don't get me wrong I really like the Rezound, but I feel it hardly has much better specs, slightly better specs at most.
That's what originally drew me to Sprint, they get the hottest phones first, and low monthly costs. But their service has let me down recently.
Please don't take offense to this post, I mean no disrespect
Well if it's close.. I would say to you exactly what I told my wife when I dropped Sprint. Sprint has done NOTHING to keep my account. They have not done anything with their local infrastructure. They never respond to trouble tickets. Their status quo really sucked bad.
Verizon on the other hand, has done extensive network upgrades and is very responsive to any problem you have.

Can't get $0.01 through Amazon

Tried to get the a GS2, but I can't due to trying to get a phone back in November when they had a similar deal. In November of 2011, I had ordered a GS2, but realized I would still have an ETF from T-Mobile, so I had the phone shipment turned around. I never received the phone, canceled the Sprint account, and as far as Sprint is concerned, I should be able to get a phone with a new activation, but Amazon's system will not let me. According to the Amazon representative I spoke with, because I had setup a Sprint account through them in the past, I can never again get a Sprint promotion through them. Sprint is the only carrier they have this problem with, and they cannot fix it either. So even if I had not canceled the order the next day, since I had previously setup a Sprint account through Amazon, I'll never be able to partake in any Sprint promotion on Amazon again... EVER! They now have a similar promotion going on right now that I'm unable to take advantage of.
I'm posting this around to various sites in the hopes that someone out there may know of a possible solution, Sprint says there is no way that they can offer me the same deal as Amazon, I'd still have to pay $199 for the phone.
so what is your complaining?
The deal was specific @ Amazon in November 2011, you decided not to get it and now you want it for the price that offered in November of last year?

Maybe they still get mad at your return earlier.

The CSR I spoke to was really nice, she said it was a problem with their system and Sprint. Whenever you order a phone, you have to give it your SSN for credit check, and once a particular SSN has ordered any Sprint phone through Amazon, promotion or not, that same SSN can never, ever get a Sprint phone again through Amazon, and there is currently no way to fix it. All the other carriers simply have a 60 or 90 day wait time between orders, Sprint is the only where it's a one time only thing.

"We haven't been given a release date yet." Side-stepped the question if they had any in stock. My guess is Sprint is just waiting to see if they can fill all the pre-orders then will release a true release date. Hopefully it's tomorrow, would be nice to have a new toy over my 3 day weekend haha

We are at the mercy of Sprint. They have been horrible at communicating during this whole ordeal. Phones are being shipped yet they are still sitting on an official launch date. This is screwing up 3rd parties, Sprint Stores, etc.
The only people who are happy campers are Sprint Preorderers. Which is the way it should be, but to an extent. This is getting quite ridiculous.
I feel like there are other issues and Sprint is dragging their feet so that they can make it to the 3 day weekend.

sprint is always messing stuff up so this doesnt surprise me
Again the lack of communication is their weak point. If they would just communicate it would satisfy a lot of people. The original release date was a week ago. The delay in customs was less than a week, or at least less than a week as far as we know right? So, it makes no sense at all that the delay after passing customs should be more than how long it was sitting in customs. Now, for all I know these could have been in customs for a month but we didn't find out about it until the last minute so maybe that's why Sprint is now scrambling.
Ugh. Damn the Sprint Store!
Ugh. Damn the Sprint Store! x2

Sure. Sprint HATES sales, that's why they're pushing the release date back. They want all their money grubbin hands on these fine devices and don't even want to give them to their hard paying customers. Maybe they're keeping them all to swim through Scrooge McDuck style.

So after suspecting that the corporate location that I ordered my phone from didn't know what they were talking about I took it upon myself to speak to a manager. He confirmed with me that they have not received their shipments and that the system does not show a shipment in route.
I then decided to call all of the sprint corporate stores in the central florida area. Spoke with every store manager at every location and they all confirmed the same thing with me that they currently do not have any in stock and do not show any pending shipment. And that they are still waiting for a confirmed release date from corporate.
I'm starting to wonder why I even pre ordered. I'm sorry if there's any typos I'm using voice dictation.
Time for another episode of "A Sprint CSR TOLD ME THIS!"
So, I called a few Sprint Stores here in SoCal and, A Sprint CSR TOLD ME THIS! "We will be receiving shipments next week."
If there is any truth to this statement, that means life will indeed suck a giant sack over the Memorial Day weekend.
Have been told the same thing in NorCal, next Wed or Thurs. I guess BB pre-orders are more special than Sprint corporate store ones.
