beastmod and quiksense have stock kernels.
If I go to those and then revert back to rooted stock through cwm will it put back my original kernal. Yes right?

the only custom kernel we have for the amaze is faux's kernel. all the rest are stock kernels.
Ok cool. Thanks.

Doing a restore of one of my backups through cwm will restore the kernal too?

Only if your phone was shipped with S-OFF.
So... probably not.
Before I unlocked and rooted, I did an OTA to 1.3, has no Idea at the time. I then unlocked and rooted and was basically on everything stock, with just a different launcher and widgets. Then I flashed Faux's kernel and worked fine. I tried to go back to stock kernel, boot.img as provided by xboarder, bluetooth and wifi stopped working and phone became unstable. I cannot downgrade to any older rom either, when I relock, it gives me a security warning and gets stuck starting in fastboot everytime. As you know I tried scratched my phone screen and am trying to get a replacement. Went to the t-mobile store to exchange and they told me I needed to go back to stock and relock the bootloader which is impossible at this point. I guess I'm stuck at this point with the kernel and this rom.
I am having trouble making the proper clock speed stick with faux's kernel and fauxclock app. I want a clock speed of about 1.5 and prefer not to undervolt too much. Everything sticks except the clock speed, am I doing something wrong. in fauxclock I did click on the button "set on boot" and still nothing...The screen off clock sticks but not the awake clock...I am on ondemand governor does this have something to do with it, sorry I am not very familiar with kernels as I did not play around with them too much before this.
Any help would be appreciated.

Just use fastboot to flash your roms boot.img file.
Assuming you're using one of xboarders roms like 3.0.0 then use that boot.img file.
With your phone is bootloader mode
fastboot flash boot boot.img and it should push everything over and update your kernel.
Then reboot to recovery and try reflashing the rom. That should do it.

Don't worry about making it stick. I don't even use any of the apps. Just use the kernel as it is.

cant get back to stock
Hey guys I know i sound like a noob but I am having an issue getting my amaze back to stock. I originally flashed it when it was just out and all that thread seems to have disappeared. I got the all in one tool kit and got the recovery image on there but every time I try to flash the original tmo usa rom it says it cannot open the zip file. I have tried a few diff zip files that i have even for other roms to see whats going on and it cant open any of the zip files. Need to get this back to tmo as I need to send it back in from my warranty exchange. Any help or advice would be great. Been flashing phones since the old mda was out and this is the first time i have had any issues getting it back to stock. Please help me!! When i use the recovery image provided by the tool kit it never shows me the option to flash a zip file just gives me an install option

Give me a minute and ill edit this post with what to do...
ok. Tmobile ruu is here, its in the third post http://www.android-dev.us/showthread...ver-Error-Fix! but its a torrent so u will need a torrent client such as utorrent to download it. Make sure u name the ph85img.zip and put it on the root of your external sd card. next relock your bootloader, i believe you can use hasoons toolkit to relock. MAKE SURE U PUT THE PH85IMG.zip ON YOUR SD CARD BEFORE RELOCKING. after you relock, boot your phone into bootloader by holding down power+volume down. when it boots into bootloader it will ask if you want to install update, select yes and it will do the rest from there.

All -
My beloved 3D is telling me there's a security update being pushed by Sprint. I am rooted but with an as yet untouched (stock) ROM. I obviously don't want to lose root - will allowing this update remove root (I've had that issue with past phones). I backed out of the update but the stupid notification won't go away so if it comes to pass that I should *not* allow the update, I need to figure out how to get rid of that blasted icon.
Thanks as always
If you are on hboot 1.50 just flash stock recovery and then take the update...you will not lose root...when done, flash back to wutever recovery you were using before and you're all done....

If you could see me now, you'd see eyes glossed over, deer in the headlights look. Yes, I'm on 1.50... To flash the stock recovery I'm guessing I just go into recovery, apply update from zip, and go, correct? Where can I find the stock recovery at? Then, when done, if I have a stock recovery I don't know how to put shooter xc back on... Cripes I'm chasin my tail...
Wut u need to do is download the 3 files i have attached here for u.Make sure to extract the 2 zip files.
1.Install flash image gui like any other apk and open.
2.Click on Recovery Image then browse to where ever the stock recovery is on your sd card and select it and then click flash.
3.You should now have stock recovery on ur evo so just proceed to install the update. If all goes good you should now be updated.
4.If you want to put cwm as your recovery again just open flash image gui and repeat step 2 but this time just browse to cwm on your sd card and flash that.
You should be all set know.

Luda305,
Is this proven and can you run a rom that isn't updated?
Thank you in advance!
Yes this is proven as I did this myself. Only works if your on the stock rom of your phone. If you mean can you flash a rom that is not updated after you do this the answer is yes. The radio will stay updated no matter what rom you flash since we are on hboot 1.50 and can't flash radios. Hope this answers your question.

CWM for recovery is pretty nice some folks were having issues using TWRP 2.0 I had few using it when it came to flashing werid ones.
All who like flash image GUI please get the paid version to support the developer its only a dollar. Joey Krim is a lifesaver for those of us on hboot 1.5.

Did anyone on hboot 1.4 lose s-off or get a upgraded hboot version when excepting the OTA update?
Ok, quick question. Flashed stock recovery, but I cannot update via the HTC updater.
So I downloaded the update in zip format.
How do I install from the Zip?? with stock recovery on????

You can't. You need a custom recovery. Unless your s-off and you flash it threw the bootloader.

Also - as far as FlashImageGUI, I downloaded (and thus paid .99 for) my copy from the market. I'm a firm believer in rewarding those who put the work in.
I can't get the update to work I used flashimagegui; flashed to stock recovery; went to HTC software update, hit check now, downloaded, hit install now; it goes into bootloader-type loading screen; gets about 1/5 of the way then displays an android software with a red triangle/exclamation point.
I suspect that if I can find this update in the form of a zip, I could just apply the update from CWM but I have no idea how to get the update in that form... Any help is greatly appreciated

Did you validate that the stock recovery worked by holding volume down and power and booting into recovery? Did you fastboot oem lock? I havent seen much success with people using the flash image GUI but i've seen around the forums that if you go into the custom recovery, flash the stockl recovery zip, flash the stock rom zip then then fastboot oem lock, it works.
I have been running CM10 for a awhile and wish to go back to the stock sense ROM. I downloaded the RUU and watched a couple videos about unrooting. I guess my question is why can i not just plug in my phone to my PC and run the RUU to go back to stock?

I think you can flash the rom from viper or meanrom is the best way to be happy now with our evo.
can i follow the steps here http://htcevohacks.com/htc-evo-4g-lte-root/how-to-unroot-htc-evo-4g-lte/ or do i need to do other things because of being on a custom rom? (cm10)

If you are S-OFF just do this
1- Backup whatever stuff you want to keep on the stock rom
2- Put the rom you want on your SD or internal storage which ever you prefer.
3- Boot into recovery (either with an app or since ur on CM10 just hold power and select reboot, then recovery)
4- Wipe cache, dalvik cache, system, and do a factory reset wipe (make sure you dont select the one that wipes your SD card)
5- Go to the install section of recovery and choose the new rom you want and flash it.
6- when it is done just reboot and set up
IF you are S-ON go through the development forums for the evo lte and there should be a sticky on how to flash roms with s-on

fastest way would be to boot to bootloader and enable fastboot, open a terminal in adb tools or sdk and type fastboot oem lock. Then run the ruu and leave the phone alone for about 10 min or so. RUU will rewrite everything and leave your phone stock again
Can someone point me to ways to flash SpeedROM without going into CWM?
I have tried the Rom Manager way from the app and it did not install.
ADB methods?
I cannot see my recovery and have tried to count the number of button clicks to get to the flash rom screen and it isn't working right.
I did root this phone without a display and by counting the clicks from youtube videos.
My end goal is flashing SpeedROM
Unlocked bootloader
S-Off
Rooted

Can you explain?
Because with aroma installer you can't just flash the .zip and go. When u flash the .zip it opens up a program that allows you to make certain selections of what you want installed with the Rom. Since you can't see the recovery, you can't go through the installer to actually finish flashing.

Exactly what AJ said.
Ok, I unlocked the bootloader on the 3d and then installed ext4. i then threw on negalites rom, booted, and had no wifi or 4g capabilities.
so i did some research....came to negalites website where they say to flash the butteredtoast kernel, then re-install negalite rom with aurora.
ok...so i did that, installed the kernel, re-installed negalite, annnnnnd still no 4g/wifi. i tried this several times. wiped caches, etc.
so then i decided "well screw this, i'll just try a different rom to see if wifi/4g work" so i decided to go back towards cyanogenmods wild in the night. so i transfer the cm zip to sd, and try to flash it....but i get an error aborted?! wtf?? i thought i unlocked the bootloader....and could flash what i wanted here.
so i tried flashing the pacman rom, that aborted as well. it seems any ROM other than negalites will not install. what gives?
So questions:
1. Is there a way to fix the negalite rom to get 4g and wifi working? anything else i can try at all?
2. why can't i flash any other roms? do i need to use TWRP instead? do i need to regress to a different rom or kernel?
Hellllpppppp!!!!
edit- this phone also is S-ON still if that matters at all
First flash Rom.zip
Then flash kernel
Also find smartflash setting in 4ext and make sure its enabled.
If you are not s off, you cannot flash anything but stock based ics, that's why you were getting errors. You need to change your hboot to flash those, and you need s off to change hboot
