Is the stock Gingerbread browser apk available? - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I'd love to dump this stock Sammy browser and install it.
Thanks for any help here.

The browser is tied into the framework and lots of other bits of the rom, so just dumping the apk in won't work.
In the end, its not really practical.
Try cm if you want a stock android feel, or try dolphin hd

Dolphin vs stock browser?

I just started using dolphin browser and have found it to be far superior to the stock browser. Is it safe to remove the stock browser? Has anyone here done so with no problem?

Thanks for your help. The stock browser is like 9MB! And soooo lacking features and functions.
Thanks for posting that...I've been asking what was safe on a few different apk's....have you tried removing Google voice....or Google talk?

Only downside is that HTC's Flash Lite is only integrated in stock browser. Dolphin has an add-on to download flash video , but it is somewhat limited.
You can do a comparison of some of the flash sites from this page :

Edit :
On 2nd thought I was wrong about this Flash DOES work in Dolphin !
What is the add on for flash for dolphin

I uninstalled Dolphin Browser HD. But there is still a folder called TunnyBrowser in myfiles. That folder is 6.2mb and contains 25folders and 407 files in it. Is it safe to delete that folder?
I have now switched to Opera
Galaxy S on Froyo JP6
It's safe to delete, I got rid of it.

Stock browser is okay and Dolphin HD had its benefits. But after using Opera for about a month it's unlikely I'll ever be using another browser. Opera is just awesome.

Is like opera better to it had a bookmark widget.

I'll try that again...
I'd like opera better if it had a bookmark widget.

Xoom browser?

Has anyone been able to load the Xoom stock browser or the Acer A500's browser on the nook color. If so, where can I find the apk?
These browsers are far better than the android mobile browser and all the market ones seem slow.
Thanks

The "Xoom browser" is the stock Honeycomb browser, and is available with any of the honeycomb roms in the development section.
This browser is not compatible with Cyanogenmod 7 (2.3.4) or Barnes and Noble's 1.2 update (2.2).
It is only compatible with Honeycomb (3.0+)
Thanks, yeah I'm running phiremod so I guess its a no go.

Try Opera Mobile, it's probably the fastest and smoothest Android browser out there.
For the tabbed browsing experience much like the Honeycomb browser, try the new version of Dolphin HD. It's also really fast and smooth.
Another vote for Dolphin HD. Its not as good as the honeycomb browser, but its pretty close.

I use Dolphin HD as well. It what way do you feel the HC browser is better (I ask because I really want to know, not to try and defend Dolphin in any way)? Also, isn't the HC browser basically Chrome?

The HC browser seemed a little quicker, but you're right that it's basically just chrome - or at least I would agree with that statement.

I think DHD and Opera are both horrible sloppy experiences in my opinion.
I long for the day either the NC can get a full on stable port of CM HC, or the browser can be ported.

Ice Cream Sandwich Apps

Well now that the latest dessert treat has made its way, and relatively stable, to the AT&T Galaxy S II, I figure it is time to make shout outs for everyone's favorite 4.0+ apps.
Initially I have been very interested, and so far impressed with the new launchers, namely:
Apex, and Nova. Right now I like Apex the most because all the features are free and I haven't found much I feel I need in Nova.
Also new browsers (none of these support tabbed browsing):
Chrome Beta and Quick ICS Browser
Please share any apps specifically made for ICS for everyone to see
ICS Browser+ (better browser tab settings and has quick menu holding finger to the side of the screen)
use it on my prime and is better than stock on galaxy s2 also
Using EX Dialer with ICS Theme to replace the samsung stock dialer.
Both Chrome Beta and Quick ICS Browser support tab browsing...

ok, well I guess that sort of depends on how u define tabbed, cuz yes it supports multiple pages, it does have have tabs like say Dolphin Browser does or chrome desktop does
I have an issue regarding an app ever since switching to ICS. Mangawhat. Its the best comic and manga app out there that I've seen. But ever since going to ics, it FC's everytime I try to open a zip file saved on my SD card. This problem has never even been brought up before. Any ideas? And could someone here give it a go?

Is there any way to push the stock ICS dialer to TW ICS roms? Or are Samsung's hooks too extensive?

I use opera. Speedy and good support for flash.
I use Google chrome
I switch between Dolphin HD and Chrome. Both are better than stock IMHO, but each has a few small failings which necessitates both being used.

I've tried Dolphin HD, Chrome, Opera, and the stock. I find myself switching around, but lately I've been using opera, I find it more finger "friendly". the other browser switching tabs is a pain with my fingers, with opera the layout much better.
Dolphin hd

Inline videos not working

I'm on Blackstar VII ROM. I have stock browser Boat and Dolphin. It shows I have flash downloaded from the ROM but the browsers do not recognise it. I used to be able to watch the videos in the webpage (like ESPN) but now the videos have to be downloaded. I was wondering why?
I know adobe stopped flash support and format currently nothing for JB. This ROM is ICS. I did some searching and didn't find much on this topic. I'm just wondering what others are doing.
Thanks foe the time.
