Ice Cream Sandwich Apps - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S II SGH-I777

Well now that the latest dessert treat has made its way, and relatively stable, to the AT&T Galaxy S II, I figure it is time to make shout outs for everyone's favorite 4.0+ apps.
Initially I have been very interested, and so far impressed with the new launchers, namely:
Apex, and Nova. Right now I like Apex the most because all the features are free and I haven't found much I feel I need in Nova.
Also new browsers (none of these support tabbed browsing):
Chrome Beta and Quick ICS Browser
Please share any apps specifically made for ICS for everyone to see

ICS Browser+ (better browser tab settings and has quick menu holding finger to the side of the screen)
use it on my prime and is better than stock on galaxy s2 also
Using EX Dialer with ICS Theme to replace the samsung stock dialer.

Both Chrome Beta and Quick ICS Browser support tab browsing...

ok, well I guess that sort of depends on how u define tabbed, cuz yes it supports multiple pages, it does have have tabs like say Dolphin Browser does or chrome desktop does

I have an issue regarding an app ever since switching to ICS. Mangawhat. Its the best comic and manga app out there that I've seen. But ever since going to ics, it FC's everytime I try to open a zip file saved on my SD card. This problem has never even been brought up before. Any ideas? And could someone here give it a go?

Is there any way to push the stock ICS dialer to TW ICS roms? Or are Samsung's hooks too extensive?

Google Chrome Beta Android

Google chrome beta was just released. Apparently only for android 4.0 devices at this point. I hope this gets adapted for gingerbread asap. cheers.

Probably will see an ICS ROM before a port of this is out, if ever. If there isn't a launcher port by now, then...yeah. Tried it on my Tab 10.1, it's pretty snazzy. I do miss the quick controls, though.

True. But who knows when ICS is dropping. March? I am using chrome on my PC so being able to sync chrome bookmarks across devices would be great. Right now, I am syncing my chrome bookmarks with xmarks on the pc, which I then sync with xmarks on firefox, which then I can see/sync with mobile firefox. A little cumbersome.
It eludes me why google has not made chrome for android ages ago. Wouldn't you think?
Running ICS on my TouchPad. There is no flash support or ability to request the desktop site, or set user agent. Chrome feels more like an alpha than beta. ICS Browser + still a much better browser for a ICS tablet.

galaxy task 14 thoughts

Unfortunately i am not able to post in the dev forum so here my experiences with Galaxy task 14 and using the Pershoot kernel on Galaxy tab P7510.
This is a stable rom with just 3 minor flaws (which could be general android or Task Rom specific)
-stock browser back button doesn't work after one click in some sites (like www(dot)nu(dot)nl. More than one time clicking the back button is requiered)
-While using ADW launcher and closing a progrom/going back to the homescreen the wallpaper has a glitch which looks like a resize attempt or something like that.
-while playing embedded videos like in upthevideo(dot)com but also on other websites the stock browser doesn't allow forwarding the video...
I tried several other browsers without a better experience as well.
Can't wait for Task15 :>
For what it is worth, I haven't had any of the problems you stated above.
However, I never use the stock browser. I use, dolphin hd on all of my devices, and have no browsing issues.
I have Ics on my Hp Touchpad at 1.5 Ghz, and Task 14 feels just as good, and better integrated.

ICS Apps

Now that there are a a ton of stable roms running ICS for our 3D I was hoping we could share some of the apps we have found that are only available for devices running Android 4.0.
The only app I was really able to find is Boid. It is a pretty neat twitter client that is designed specifically for Android 4.0. I have been using it for a few days and I really like the snappiness of the application.
Has anyone else found any cool applications that are only available on the new version of android?
The official gmail app has such a nice ICS theme IMO...
Also Chrome Beta for android is 4.0 exclusive and is a really nice browser

I competely forgot about chrome beta, it is awesome because it syncs everything from my desktop and laptop. Definitely a must have for anyone running ICS

Boid looks great but still lacks some necessary features for me.
It's not exactly an "ICS App" because you can install it on 2.2 and up, but Solid Explorer Beta is the best file manager app I have ever used, and it really fits in with the ICS feel. If you're the type of person who wants some sort of visual continuity between apps, then this is the file explorer to use on ICS.
Chrome Beta is not really working to well with my phone. I get rendering problems when using on screen keyboard. Am I the only one?
same here. i WANT to use chrome beta, but the rendering issues make it a non-starter for me.
i've tried the ics keyboard and swiftkey 3 beta. but even ignoring the keyboard rendering issues, it just acts flakey regardless.

Good launchers and web browsers for the TF300T?

Well I've been trying to find good tablet launcher but all I can find decent is Nova launcher. Any recommendations? Stock lags a bit when multitasking so looking for something efficient ^_^ and thanks in advance . Hopefully this would be useful to other noob members like myself.
I'm also looking for a good browser that don't force close and flash videos can fullscreen, so far the only browser that lets me fullscreen flash videos is stock but it lags sometimes and annoys me
I'm not rooted just FYI I'll be waiting for fully stable CM releases later on ^_^
Sent from my ASUS Transformer Pad TF300T using XDA Premium HD
I like nova launcher the best, although apex is popular among Galaxy Nexus devs for some reason. But both have the same features like ADW themes, folders and whatnot.
I'm now using the go launcher hd, it's completely free and it's much, much smoother than the stock launcher.
I have never use nova/apex, what's the major difference between go launcher and nova/apex??
I haven't used go launcher hd but Apex and Nova are like an enhanced stock ICS launcher.

Yup I'm using Nova.. Apex lags when on power saving mode... lol kinda dissapointed my g2x tegra 2 under clocked to 750mhz doesnt lag with apex.. then again custom rom/kernel
Im a bit skeptical on current unlock/roms available ill wait till they get polished to have as daily use ,I dont like to keep updating and changing roms so often.
I'm also looking for a good browser that dont force close and flash videos can fullscreen, so far the only browser that lets me fullscreen flash videos is stock but it lags sometimes and annoys me.
Didnt feel like making new thread for this. Changed thread name also and edited first post

I've been using ICS Browser+ the last couple weeks for my browser. Happy with it. Like a modified version of stock browser. Feel it has more customization, more stable and I get fewer wait/force close notifications. Flash works fine with it.
I'm pretty happy with go launcher HD , but haven't tried anything else besides stock.
Dolphin will do flash.

Dolphin was my first choice and it did not do fullscreen flash videos but gota say I'm impressed with icsbrowser+ it simply works and its fast most stable i have seen yet for my tablet
I recommend overskreen it is 2$ but what it does is really nice and worth it for every tablet , it stays on top of any screen or app etc and u can resize it how you want its prety fast toobut it wont handle flash vids fullscreen when needed. Sure most of these browsers will fix that common problem eventually.

I honestly just use the stock launcher. I have nova and adw installed but don't really like them. Adw is too much and nova is ok but the ASUS widgets don't look right. That opinion will probably change for me later on. For the browser I really like how chrome shares of everything with my laptop. Thought about giving browser + a look though cause I do like the stock browser. Ics did a good job with everything almost to where the second launchers and browsers aren't really necessary like they were in the 2.2 days.

I agree after the build.prop mod the stock browser is the best and most stable. As far as the launcher nova and apex for some reason when running on powersaving both launchers kinda lag

I've been running with just the stock launcher really, haven't looked into alternative launchers yet.
Been using Dolphin HD for a while since I wanted LastPass integration, but before I did a factory reset (unrelated issues) it'd crash a lot with the latest version, hopefully that was just a random issue. It's fairly good otherwise and LP support through a plugin is very nice.

Chrome vs Stock Browser

Which one do you prefer and why? Or if you're using a different browser let me know.
I keep reading that chrome is noticeably slower than the stock browser, so I'm curious what everyone else is using.

I use chrome. I love it and I think it's much faster. Actually I like it so much I used titanium backup to uninstall stock browser so there were no conflicts. I also set under app associations to be the default browser. I will never use anything other than chrome.

I use the stock browser because its faster by far
i use stock browser. doesn't seem slow to me, lol. main reason i use it is because i can stream flash whereas chrome doesn't support it
Stock Browser here. Flash is great, but the main reason for me is text wrapping/formatting. For example, Gamefaqs in Chrome is terrible! When you double tap, the text is still super small. In the Stock Browser, all text is correctly displayed at a size I can read it. Anyone else have this same problem with Chrome? If they fixed it, Chrome would easily be my default browser.

I have been using dolphin for quite a while. The main reason is for the gesture recognition. I draw a < and it takes me back a page. I can also create my own. I haven't noticed a difference between dolphin and stock as far as speed is concerned. I have chrome on my PC but not on any android devices. I'll have to try it.
I use Chrome Beta for all browsing that doesn't need flash. If I need flash (usually trying to get to menus on restaurant websites) then I will load the page up in the stock browser.
stock. much faster.
even on my N7 i run the stock browser.apk
chrome is choppy, doesn't EVER scroll smoothly, and is just laggy overall. don't understand how google can't even optimize it's own browser app for these phones correctly, while the android team has their browser working amazingly. i never use chrome, especially now that chrome bookmarks sync to all stock browsers (browser on aosp, sense, and touchwiz)

I use Dolphin for regular use but I love Chrome, if it had more options (browser ID etc) and supported flash I would use it as my DD
I've used all of them and for the time being, I'm using stock. The only con is that it'll crash on you from time to time, especially on flash heavy websites (but that's a bit of a given, considering flash is on its way out). But besides that, the fact that it DOES allow flash, and wraps text, and is fast/smooth as hell.. Makes it difficult to give up.
Chrome (beta) is nice and fast but doesn't allow for quick controls and full screen, which pisses me off enough not to want to use it regularly. Having it sync with your computer's browser is the only perk there. If anything, I would say that these are the only two browsers you need (stock and chrome beta). I've tried about 8 other ones and man.. They always leave me disappointed.
This one of the cooler features that I thought Android specific. After using Chrome, I realize it may be a stock Android browser feature that HTC keeps on their Sense version.
Regardless, is one of the main reasons I switched from the iPhone and don't use Chrome specifically for the lack of it.
Sent from my HTC6435LVW using xda premium
chrome is definitely the laggier of the two, i tried it out for a couple days and went back to stock
When using sense I use chrome. But if it's a stock Rom I love the stock browser.
