galaxy task 14 thoughts - Galaxy Tab 10.1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Unfortunately i am not able to post in the dev forum so here my experiences with Galaxy task 14 and using the Pershoot kernel on Galaxy tab P7510.
This is a stable rom with just 3 minor flaws (which could be general android or Task Rom specific)
-stock browser back button doesn't work after one click in some sites (like www(dot)nu(dot)nl. More than one time clicking the back button is requiered)
-While using ADW launcher and closing a progrom/going back to the homescreen the wallpaper has a glitch which looks like a resize attempt or something like that.
-while playing embedded videos like in upthevideo(dot)com but also on other websites the stock browser doesn't allow forwarding the video...
I tried several other browsers without a better experience as well.
Can't wait for Task15 :>

For what it is worth, I haven't had any of the problems you stated above.
However, I never use the stock browser. I use, dolphin hd on all of my devices, and have no browsing issues.
I have Ics on my Hp Touchpad at 1.5 Ghz, and Task 14 feels just as good, and better integrated.

Shouldn't this be in general?

[Q] Which Browser Do You Use?

So since I've got my phone I've installed on 8 different browsers and still can't decide which one to use as my main one. So which browser do you use and why?
Dolphin mini because stock don't have a fast ua switch
Opera is the fastest but don't have a good configurable ua and there is no way to make it work at least for me btw opera is the fastest in all

Miren browser,

Miren here too, although the stock one is really nice and smooth so I switch between them a lot...
I use Opera Mobile, couldn't stand dolphin.
Dolphin was great in earlier android devices. But is horrible now. Stock browser works great.

Definitely the stock SGS II Browser for me. on my SGS I went with dolphin. But the SGS II browser is so much better. They've tidied it up and now can finally open 8 tabs very very stable and fast.
I'm loving the browser the most! + due to Samsung's Exynos chip my SGS II renders pages apx 1.5 times quicker than my sgs on the same wifi network
i dont understand how you can use a browser except stock browser.it is the fastest smoothest browser.no lag nothing.stock browser's amazing performance was the reason for me to buy SGS2.
dolphin mini all the way

only one i tried was opera mobile but i couldnt get the flash to work ?
And with the stock browser i tried acid3test and it scored 93/100 and opera got 100/100 lol i dont know.
Any browsers that get a 100/100 in acid3 and have full flash support, or am i just a noob and not know how to activate the flash on opera?
Miron or Stock work great
Miron used to be far better but not any more.

Two friends one who has a sgs and the other iphone were amazed @ my stock browsers speed. We were all on same wifi at my friends house.
Seriously it is SGSII's best feature.
I'm not forcing you to use it, just don't rule it out thinking it'll be just like sgs stock or android stock browser before installing your own. Have a try, with bookmarks and everything. You might change your mind ☆★☆★☆

Stock Browsers really nice, it's a shame though that it's a hassle getting to the tabs.
btw. Can anyone find a 'history' option?

Stock browser looks like its the only one hardware accelerated. Wish there was a way to find out more info about this.
I switch between Firefox mobile and Opera Mobile. I've never even heard of Dolphin, I'll have to give it a try now!
Firefox crashes pretty often, but I still find myself using it more than the others.
I've done the hundreds of tests and stock browser is the fastest
Too bad
there's not a user settings like desktop or ipad et cetera.
Unfortunately you're stuck with mobile version sites in many instances.

Ice Cream Sandwich Apps

Well now that the latest dessert treat has made its way, and relatively stable, to the AT&T Galaxy S II, I figure it is time to make shout outs for everyone's favorite 4.0+ apps.
Initially I have been very interested, and so far impressed with the new launchers, namely:
Apex, and Nova. Right now I like Apex the most because all the features are free and I haven't found much I feel I need in Nova.
Also new browsers (none of these support tabbed browsing):
Chrome Beta and Quick ICS Browser
Please share any apps specifically made for ICS for everyone to see
ICS Browser+ (better browser tab settings and has quick menu holding finger to the side of the screen)
use it on my prime and is better than stock on galaxy s2 also
Using EX Dialer with ICS Theme to replace the samsung stock dialer.
Both Chrome Beta and Quick ICS Browser support tab browsing...

ok, well I guess that sort of depends on how u define tabbed, cuz yes it supports multiple pages, it does have have tabs like say Dolphin Browser does or chrome desktop does
I have an issue regarding an app ever since switching to ICS. Mangawhat. Its the best comic and manga app out there that I've seen. But ever since going to ics, it FC's everytime I try to open a zip file saved on my SD card. This problem has never even been brought up before. Any ideas? And could someone here give it a go?

Is there any way to push the stock ICS dialer to TW ICS roms? Or are Samsung's hooks too extensive?

New Firefox Beta is smooth on the Note

Downloaded the new Firefox Beta today from the Play Store today.
It is much smoother and faster than Chrome Beta.

create general.user agent.override and set to desktop seems to work
For user agent, use the extension Phony.
Also, Firefox supports Flash now, this alone makes it worth trying for me. I always used the stock browser instead of Chrome for that reason.
Locked up my phone first time I went to a webpage. Uninstalled.

Yes its running very nice on my note/Perfection ROM.
Thanks for the notice. I cannot stand Chrome aonthis is a good alternative.

Played with it earlier today. Uninstalled it. After you Chrome nothing else is as good.
I installed it after finding out about it earlier in the day. I have refused to use Firefox on my mobile devices due to shortcomings and mostly, lack of flash support. So far, I am generally pleased with this new BETA version. However, Dolphin Browser HD will continue to be my favorite. I don't even think I bother to use mobile Chrome. I'm generally not a fan of Chrome for the computer, either.
well im on gingerbread so no chrome love
trying this beta out now
I tried it out too, real smooth and fast and the swiping to the left or right of the screen to bring up tabs or settings is imo better than Dolphin HD (and it seems smoother than Dolphin as well).
I'm waiting for more updates though because simple things like forcing desktop mode or some kind of incognito mode are buried within the settings, this is one of the biggest reasons I use boat browser as my main browser it lets you put whatever buttons you want at the bottom of your page. Hopefully they add some of this functionality as Firefox is really fast. (And no chrome love for me either as I'm on rooted stock GB).

Best Browser For the S3

Done a search but nothing of relevance came up in these forums.
Just got my phone today and so far just using the stock browser which seems ok but undoubtedly there are better browsers out there, i always used X-Scope on my SGSII but im a bit tired of that now and looking for something else,i hear Chrome for ICS is supposed to be very good, so what browser is everyone using then?
Chrome is not that great on s3 yet, it lags and has touch delays..stock browser is undoubtedly the best browser I have tried . It gets the work done. Only thing I don't like is how you manage tabs . Try dolphin browser, should run as stock but with some enchanced features
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda premium
Well the built in browser works really nice, but i personally like
firefox and that you can use addons like adblock and so that i value
a lot personally.
Though I don't currently have the S3 yet, I'll probably use Boat Browser. Easy to use and has been the best I have used for my tastes. It'll be the fist I install when I get my S3.
Dunno where you heard that Chrome 'lags', that's definately not the case. Alright, you don't have Flash. I always thought of it as a huge drawback but I haven't missed it a single time and I've been using Chrome for Android since the very beginning.
It has great tab management, staggering performance and a brilliant look. One of the best things about it is the integration with your desktop Chrome (and all other versions of Chrome you might be using.) Open tabs are synced in real time so let's just say you want to open a link from your phone on your desktop. no more mailing it around, now you can just click on it on your desktop. The bookmark sync is great too. And it's Chrome.

Use Chrome. Also install Flashify. In the rare instance you launch a site that needs flash, just click share, flashify, then select an alternative browser. The page you were browsing is then opened for you.

Chrome still sucks for me even after you let it fully load pages . Zoom in and out pinching and panning it just freeze-lags on me all the time . You guys force gpu acceleration?
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda premium
Stock browser works well here.
Before I used Dolphin, but there's a bug or something. When double tapping to zoom in on an area on the page it always zooms in to the left of the page (instead of the area you double tap)
Do more people experience this bug?
Dolphin Mini - best interface, not a ton of features
Dolphin HD - alright interface, just works
Opera Mobile - most like a PC, best comparability with websites that give trouble, has hardware acceleration, super smooth
Stock - smoothest, least features, and has problems downloading certain types of files, or downloading at all from hosting websites

My Only Complaint So Far...

Why the hell do I have to zoom out every page in Chrome in order to actually see the whole thing (more specifically, this page)? This thing is 2,560 pixels wide! I'm pretty sure that's enough to fit a whole page horizontally. Even if there was just an option in Chrome to start completely zoomed out on the page, as there is in the stock AOSP browser I'd be happy. I got this thing because of the pixels; I shouldn't have to zoom out!
Seriously though everything else is great.
... BECAUSE PIXELS!
Chrome is a piece of crap (on this tablet at least), mine just freezes when I try to use it. Hopefully they will release an update soon. For now try a different browser.

The weirdest thing is Chrome works great on iPads. WTF Google. At least try to optimize your own software for your own device and OS.
yeah, chrome is a steaming pile of crap, on phones, on tablets, but not on PC.
it's stupid that the default android browser is so buggy.
it still consistently crashes when launching with a keyboard.
Are you all just filching AOSP browser out of a ROM? Or where are you getting it?
