[Q] how do i change su permissions - Motorola Photon 4G

anyone know how to fix su permissions.

Open super user app. From there you should be able to allow and deny su access. Also please post future questions in the general section until we get a q&a section installed.

The ultimate goal would be to gather comparison logs to flag up the likely suspects for the device not entering deep-sleep in the first place or waking up from it too often.

Note: Tasker (paid application) required. Free BETA available ATM on the above thread. And kindly do NOT flood that thread with n00b comments and questions!!!
The beta tasker link in the thread is free. Installed and ready. Why is DSD Power profile activated by default, shouldn't it be DSD display on.
Lets flood this thread instead of that.

Non-n00b questions go to the linked thread I basically wanted to advertise it. Think it has grwat potential for debugging these issues.

But we will have to post the logs here for our developers.

Suggestion:
- retarded questions >> /dev/null
- n00b questions go here
- relevant questions and issues on the app itself go to the original thread
- issues found using this go to relevant development tbread (ROM or kernel)

Well you should remove the note from first thread. The link in that thread for tasker is free beta version.

Please post some info about it.
Proud owner of lg optimus one
It's a set of tasks and profiles for tasker (use the provided link in thread for tasker the paid version doesn't work with it) also needs root.
It makes a log file, we can know which apps are waking the phone in sleep mode (apps eating battery). Getting the su permission is hardest part in intalation.

The logs files will be clean on Franco kernel. He has managed wakelocks really well.

This is quite a piece of work!
My first notification says deep sleep 82% that means 18% something trying to wake phone.

Did u follow the guide on that thread. If u get stuck than tell me.

First download and install locale execute plugin (market link in that thread)
Install the beta tasker (link in thread)
Open tasker app >task >new task. Give any name on next screen select icons (button next to recycle bin) download icons, Select glossy silver HD. Install it. (Its only to download icons exit tasker)
Goto accesibility option in settings select tasker
Goto Setting > location & security > select device administrator > select tasker.
Download the profile zip (v6 right now from that thread) extract the content it has profiles and task, all the file with pref goez into /Sdcard/tasker/profiles and all tsk file goes to /sdcard/tasker/tasks, you have to import them into tasker by , menu > profile data > import one profile > select one by one all profiles same goes with tasks.
Than
1) Open the task DSDSuperUser keep pressing 'test' until no more SuperUser requests are appearing
(wait for a while between press, each press asks about 2 permission) .
This will leave all the commands free to run in the tasks. Apply out of Tasker and then go back to this task and press 'test' once again to make sure no further SU permissions didn't prompt the first time. There may well (should) be 4 permission to accept.
Just to Check you have all the permission open superuser app, and check you have 9 local execute plugin.
2) Reboot your phone
3) Once booted, you will receive an error that the data was corrupted. This is as expected (as there isn't any). Ignore it.
All this to find out who is eating our battery, man I get 99% dsp with 29 ut. On Franco kernel they are great values.
Shameless bump to get this some visibility on the junk-flooded section.

Uninstalling Superuser

What would happen? Would apps no longer be able to get root permissions or would they automatically get them?
To the best of my knowledge you can't uninstall superuser without going to back to stock.
Also the apps that need superuser won't work

If you delete the app, nothing will get root anymore. If you delete the su binary, the same thing would happen.

Hey guys, is there a way to block certain permissions for an app? For example internet access?
Sent from my Desire HD using xda premium
Yes there is but you need to be Rooted also i tested the app and it will not Deny permissions and the app said reboot to take effect but when my phone is up the promissions did not take efffect for my phone but you can always try it i will give you the market link

Sorry XDA will not let me post Outside links so go to the Android Market type Permissions Denied and READ THE DESCRIPTION then download it

Cheers bud haha I'm not a noob It's cool

To just deny internet access, try Droidwall. It's a great app, and the process it uses (changing the iptables) is much more reliable than whatever method the other app uses. I've tried Permissions Denied and it seems to work occasionally but not all of the time.

Could we prevent an app from running in background but still be able to use it at any

What I am asking is if we could do some sort of quarantine to an app but still be able to use it via the app drawer like usual?
Wrong thread sry. Can a mod move it to the q&a section please?

Only if you ask permission first.
That's why you root. What did you think you did it for?
