CWM and emmc? - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi I was wondering if someone could help me, I was trying to do a full wipe of my phone and returning everything to stock i.e wipe everything then flash stock rom.
Firstly I wipe data/factory resest
wipe cache partition
Then I went into mounts and format system, data, cache, sd card but when I try to format emmc it says error mounting /emmc!
When I try mounting emmc it says again Error mounting /emmc!
I'm an idiot but can someone tell me what the emmc is and why the hell it's not mounting?
Is it not the internal memory, if so shouldn't it be mounted?
Thanks

It does not need formatting whatever it is . System data and sd card is plenty .

Well this is confusing, sd card in my mind was an ACTUAL sd card, and emmc is apparentley internal memory.
I inserted a micro sd card, and formatting emmc formats the micro sd card.
Why does sd card in the options refer to the internal memory?!

This is a joke right?

I was in Sub-Zero recovery and for some reason the phone cannot MOUNT the EMMC which to the recovery is the External SD card, that I have read. So I decided to PARTITION it, and partitioned it alright, my INTERNAL SD CARD. It completely FORMATTED IT, all my music, my ROM downloads, recovery downlaods. WTF? WHY WOULD IT TOUCH the internal SD card, when i told it to touch the external SD card? And yes I told it to do the external NOT internal.
When I went to mount it, it STILL COULD NOT MOUNT IT. I put my SDCARD into my computer directly it had to format it? There should of been 4GB of FAT32 left, if the partitioning did it correctly. It didn't and I still had to format it. It reads fine in my computer it's an 8gb SDHC card, tell me this phone can't read SDHC??
Why can't this phone read this SD card, when my computer can read it fine, and why did it touch the internal SD card, getting rid of my backups, and everything else? Why would the recovery do that?

What rom and version were you running? CM9 swapped /emmc and /sdcard in one of the latest commits, it's possible the ROM you're running cherrypicked that commit.

formatting internal memory

I'm selling my Amaze, keeping external memory.
Where is the location for custom recovery - is it on internal or external card, or somewhere else - in the phone?
I want to wipe the internal memory, keeping temp external card, reboot into recover and install custom rom from external memory, then reboot and remove internal memory.
Will the above procedure work ?
your internal memory is basically an internal sd card, so formatting that will not affect your recovery or system etc. there's a partition set for system files. Your procedure will work, just flash a rom and format the internal sd before or after, it won't matter.

Thanks, wasn't entirely sure, as I'm about to do all of this in front of the buyer. I guess formatting internal SD card from recovery is the safest way, as I read doing it via PC renders the card useless.
Thanks mate!

[Q] can you partition sd-ext on internal sd card?

I'm running out of space in my data partition, looking to partition another sd-ext on the internal sd card on my galaxy s2.
Can it be done? If so, how?!
I do know how to do it through recovery on an external SD card... but no idea how or if it's possible to do it to my internal, which would be preferable!

TWRP Wipe Partitions (Internal Storage)

Is it safe to wipe the "Internal Storage" partition as well when flashing a custom ROM?
even when I have the files to be flashed on an external SD card? does wiping internal storage also wipe all files on the external SD card???
please I need your assistance!!!!!!!

1st off all. Why would you format your external SD card to F2FS. F2FS is only used for partitions like system/data(aka internal storage) and cache. There's no need to format your SD card to F2FS, all you can do now is format is back to FAT32 or exFAT (since that's what most SD card uses) and you should be able to use your SD card back.
Hit Thanks if this help you

It's quite different but any FAT type filesystem will work.
