Hi,
I used this method to unlock my Samsung Galaxy ace yesterday, unfortunately, when I restarted the phone, it just hung when the Samsung logo shows up.
I flashed the S5830XXKPH and AceVillainRom, but unfortunately on both there is no sound and the phone doesn't detect any cellular networks (wifi working OK).
I cannot install a 2.2 ROM, because once flashed, the phone freezes on the Samsung boot logo.
Now I have the official unlock code from my cellular network, but I don't know how to apply it, since the phone doesn't detect any network at all.
Update: I noticed the IMEI is not set on the device, maybe this could cause it to not be able to search for networks, is there any way to set IMEI back to default?
I would be grateful for all your suggestions.
same problem here, i wish someone would help us.
The Search button isn't there for nothing . There's a thread that teaches you how to downgrade in the Android Developmeny section .

yep, but this problem can't be fixed easily, that unlock method spoils the phone, you need to take it for repairers

Couldnt agree more. If flashing other roms doesnt solve ur problem, send for repair is ur only solution. Tampering with efs partition is proven dangerous on ace.

Hello,
I have the Samsung Galaxy S II
Flashed with Dark litening rom.
Just today, this problem started. When I start up the phone I have signal for maye 5 minutes. Then I see coverage bars, but it says emergency calls only in the notification menu, and I cannot connect any calls.
I bought two of these off the same guy online about a month ago, the other one works fine so i think (hope) its not imei blocked.
I have googled it to no avail.
I have tried removing battery sim card and resetting.
I have tried a different sim card.
I have tried factory reset.
None of the above worked.
Please help.
Thanks in advance, any and all suggestions are appreciated
I checked the imei here:
http: //www . amta . org.au/?Page=405
And it says unblocked.
So it must be an error with the phone? Please help.
Thanks

Check your IMEI is the correct one that came with the phone and matches up under the battery ..
Probable you damaged EFS folder when flashing a rom .
Restore your backed up EFS folder .

Thanks for the reply, unfortunately I have checked that already and they are matching. Any other suggestions?

Do a factory reset, wipe data and cache from CWM recovery if you have it, or flash a new rom. (Backup anything you dont want to lose).

Hi! i experienced this issue with my Samsung Galaxy S2 after flashing ICS rom. It's weird as well that when I transfer the sim to different phone and place it back again to my phone then it works but the moment I reboot my phone then I will get the same issue...
Same problem
Same problem right here about a month in to using CM7
Going round in circles...
I've now tried all sorts.
Wipe caches, factory reset, different kernels, different modems, new SIM card, battery & SIM out, reboot, chec ed if phone is barred, checked if IMEI has changed, all sorts....
Still no luck.
Can anyone help?
I found out what the problem is.
The same thing happened to me.
Emergency calls only, couldn't connect to a network, out of service state, IMEI was fine.
I went to the network operator that sold me the phone, and they scanned my phones barcode and told me the phone is blacklisted.
Go to your network operator and check if this is the case. I'm 99% sure that it will be. You ought to be able to unblacklist the phone

Sadly 99% of those with a problem have not a blacklisted IMEI they just broke the EFS and never bothered to read the fAQS and GUIDES .

IMEI is fine.
How to fix?????
And have you both asked your carrier if the phone is IMEI blocked & absolutely positively 100% ruled out a carrier side problem ? (Given a lot of these problems tend to be carrier side one way or another).

Hi,
I have bought an used Samsung i9100 phone, that is like new and everything is working, except GSM network.
It seems that it can get a signal, and it identifies the networks of my country. But it cant connect to any of them. I have tried with different SIM cards.
Also, I tried flashing it with some ROMS to see if it solved something, also tried to use the EFS fixing tools available on XDA for I9100.
Also tried the EFS tool to unlock the phone, and it does give me a number to unlock it, but when I try to unlock it, it says that the operation was unsuccessfull.
Any ideas on what is happening ? I can see my IMEI properly on the Android about page.
Thanks

my other phone is a Samsung Galaxy S, which i have for more than a year.
I Flash it almost daily so i am not new to the works
I tried almost everything , kernel, modem , rom , unlocking , recovery of the EFS.
Dont know what to do more. It doesnt seem to be hardware related, because even signal strenght seems good.
It just says "emergency calls only" and cannot register to a network : says " unable to register, try again later".
That reads as possible IMEI problem. Or antenna even.

so you have a phone that shows strong signal but would not accept your sim ?
you cant register to network usually means that the phone is locked to a certain network and that your sim is not of that network
you can try calling emergency and if you get a connection hang up or tell the guys on the other side you made a mistake and apologize;
at least that way you know there is no problem with the antenna
but seeing your screenshots it appears that you do have UMTS? but no GSM?
this is weird and looks like the phone was locked to a certain network and then unlocked but not properly unlocked
again it was asked before: what country are you in?
I've been searching for answers all over the place with no luck… Maybe somebody can help!

My GS2 is factory unlocked, but i've been reading some of the GS3 forums and a similar issue happened on late samsung firmwares, there's a fix for that phone but im not sure if it'll work on ours. Its probable related to a recent firmware, you should try flashing an older one and see if the issue persists.
Hi all,
First of all, I want to say thanks for all the help and knowledge I've found on this website - it's amazing.
I've come to you because my sister bought an i5500 from a girl who was on the Telus network in Canada. My sister is on SaskTel, and I believed I would be able to unlock it after looking at xda-dev for some time. After several hours of rooting and attempting unlock, I finally got the BML5 file and opened it in hex editor. After several more hours, I managed to locate my SIM unlock code - 01234567 (Which I find odd, by the way).
Anyway, my sister has since gotten a SIM card from SaskTel and when we insert it, no SIM code prompt appears. I then tried it with my Fido card, and it did the exact same thing - the phone acts as though there isn't any SIM card in. It does, however, state that there's no signal.
Does this mean that the phone is already unlocked? If it is unlocked, I don't know how it happened - the girl that originally owned the phone never hacked the phone or anything. If it is unlocked, why won't my Fido SIM card, or my sister's SaskTel SIM card work?
The other issue I've been having is that the phone will suddenly turn off every 5 or 10 minutes. Could it have happened when I rooted the phone? I used SuperOneClick to do it, then command prompt to pull the img file to my laptop. Did I partially brick it?
Thank you so much for any help you guys can give me; I'd like to think of myself as fairly technically apt, but at the moment, I'm completely at a loss as to how to fix this.
Again, thanks.
---------
EDIT: Found some new info: Whenever the phone restarts, the date, time, and time zone are all reset back to standard. Does this mean that the battery is shot? The phone is less than a year old...
useful thread
Well I don't know about the rebooting, but what I recommend you read this thread,
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1335548
specially the last part, which states:
Most custom roms that tries to remove blur break the subsidy lock interface (sim unlock screen doesn't show on them). If you flash other rom and subsidy unlock screen doesn't pop when you insert foreign sim, you will need to flash back stock ROM in order to unlock. So the easyest way for those of you running a Custom ROM, just do a nandroid backup using CWM, flash Stock ROM, unlock your phone then restore your backup.

If you have reached the end of the tutorial and you wasn't able to obtain the unlock code( find numbers like 00000000 / 11111111 ), then it means that your phone it's "Hard Locked" or doesn't have the unlock code provided with the phone. I don't know any solution until now for this problem. For most of the people here, this works flawlessly, for some doesn't work.

Thanks for this. I used that link to root and get the code for the phone, but now I'm confused with the lack of PIN unlocking screen. Does that mean that I'm going to have to backup/flash with stock ROM? I'm totally fine with flashing it back to stock if it's not, in fact, I've looked for a stock ROM in case that was the issue. Since it's a Canadian model though, (GT-I5500M) I can't find any. There's a list somewhere on XDA with all the I5500 ROMs, but it says that there aren't any from Canada. Options? Ideas?
Thanks again for the help.
Anyone with any other ideas? Right now I'm trying to decide whether or not we should just sell the phone and get a new one, so any advice/help would be appreciated so much.

Thanks, I did, but there isn't anything for Canada on there. A new problem just cropped up: the WiFi won't turn on. So, even if I wanted to flash it with an official firmware, I don't think I could - I have to use the market to download an app to flash, right?
U can use Odin..

Alright, thanks. If I change my baseband to another version, does that mean that the phone won't work in Canada anymore?
Hi everyone,
As i wrote before on xda (my topic), i disrupted my device's touchscreen while doing TriangleAway process. Then i tried many ways to recover but i convinced that it's not possible to fix it without changing the touchscreen parts. I left my device to warranty and they fixed in 15 mins. and it works great as before.
But now, i have another issue. While i was trying to recover my touchscreen i flashed official firmwares (downladed from sammobile) and rooted several times. And i disturpted device's imei somehow. I tried all methods which r given on xda but they didn't work unfortunately. I I have a last option, gonna leave my device to warranty again but don't know they gonna fix it under warranty or not. What do u suggest me to tell them? I mean, they gonna ask me how that happened but i don't wanna say i flashed firmware with odin cos i guess it ruins my device's warranty.
I need to learn, is that possible to lost imei while doing update with Kies or OTA? Or is it possible to happen with any legal application on an unrooted device? I need an acceptable reason to fix my device under warranty. Does anybody have any suggesion?
Thanks in advance.
I think you better not getting official firmware on other websites. You should use the "Firmware Upgrade And Initialization" in the "Tools" of Samsung KIES 2.5. It is totally original and it will download the latest firmware according to your model and serial number.
I tried using this function on my SHV-E210S and the IMEI was not lost but I don't know if there will be any problem on SHV-E210K.
At the same time, do you know how to make SIP registrations on SHV-E210S/SHV-E210K/SHV-E210L? I need that for putting the phone on LTE network and able to receive calls

It seems that it is a must for you to lose the warranty because the IMEI cannot be lost if the phone is unrooted or coneect to the computer with USB debugging mode. However, how come you receive the warranty as I see your location is not Korea?
