after updating my phone's OS to 2.1, I cannot send text messages !! I am pretty sure that it has something to do with editing message centre number.
I was googling about this problem and have noticed that there are a couple of blokes out there who have faced the same problem and have failed to find a solution

You can edit the SMS Centre number by following the below steps on your handset:
1. Open your dialler and dial: *#*#4636#*#*.
2. From the menus which appear, select Phone Information.
3. Scroll down to SMSC.
4. Enter the SMS centre number given by your provider in this box.
5. Select Update.

I tried to manually enter the message centre number but when I enter *#*#4636#*#* , I get a notification stating "update error" !
What do you think is causing this problem?
Wierd... I've just done so in MiniCM7 pro ROM and it worked fine...
Which ROM are you running?

Just installed CM7 6.5.2 and i`ve noticed that i can`t send sms.... i know that you have to enter *#*#4636#*#* and change the sms center.. but i e keep getting a "?" when i hit update... btw the sms center is +40722004000... tryed sms-pdu-encode-decode but still no luck.Please help?
I am unable to send sms but can receive on my rooted Galaxy Note N7000.
When I check the Phone Information by dialing *#*#4636#*#*, the SMSC: field is blank.
If I click on refresh, it returns "00".
If I attempt to enter the number manually it just returns "update error".
I'm assuming that the number should be stored on the SIM card and for some reason the phone can't read/access the stored number. This happened once before after rooting the phone and all I had to do then was hit refresh and update. I did see that the SMSC field was blank when I re-checked it later, though, but sms was working correctly.
I tried installing Gingerbread 2.3.6. The Settings > About Phone confirms 2.3.6
but
1. it made no difference to the SMSC problem I describe above
2. all my settings, data and apps are still there.
3. the phone is still rooted.
I assumed all that would get wiped with a f/w upgrade. The instructions I followed said the phone would be reverted to non-rooted. I guess I must have got something wrong.
I talked to a guy at my local telco today. He spotted that the phone was rooted so was quick to blame that (maybe correctly) as the cause. However, when I showed him the settings page revealed by the *#*#4636#*#* string, he thought this was some software app I'd installed myself and not the phone's f/w till he typed the string on his own phone and saw it for himself.
Can anyone suggest a fix? Un-rooting? Wait for the next official Android upgrade for my phone/region?

hey guys i installed cm 7.2 rom and i cant write post at android dev. cuz i'm new at this forum i cant deliver and get sms how can i solve it i installed other sms program and it didnt work. I inserted sim to another phone and it's works. I flashed phone to 2.1 and i can get messages. So i tried everything. I've got another problem but cm 7.2 rom solved that. And i dont wanna install any rom because of that.
edit: that's a smsc problem. I dial *#*#4636#*#* and try to enter smsc code but it didnt work it says update error

Use Go-SMS to enter your SMSC number! it works! worked for me!
check " Enable Customized SMSC" and insert your SMSC in "Customized SMSC Number"

I have found out that my Lumia 800 does not send ANY sms (receive only).
I checked that sms centre number is missing, so I wrote it inside and tapped ''save'', but phone did not save it, it was still BLANK. Tried it several times, it does NOT SAVE the message centre number.
I put the right number for my region.
I put sim on the other phone and work...
I have the latest windows phone update.

You might want to try a factory reset.
i do 2-3 times...this can be a sim card problem?

I doubt that. The SMS center number is saved in the phone.
if i flash software or do a downgrade firmare ? this can be good?

Try to run network setup and see if that helps, if not choose another carrier and then switch back to your own carrier, and if that also doesn't work, then use another simcard to see if that will solve your issue.

Hi alla. I've a big problem with my phone just buyed from gearbest. It's a x820 and I can't make call send SMS o use data in no ROM, eui , RR , los... Must I flash a new modem ?

When and where you bought it ? Do you flash custom ROM ? Have you find a solution ?
I don't know why it worked, by i opened the hidden menu- tap on dialer : *#*#4636#*#* , changed network mode to unknown and 20 seconds later signal came back, i could write sms and call.....
currently using slim 7 rom

Wow. I have definitively to try it. But what you mean with "hidden menu "? I have only to write *#*#4636#*#* and the menu appears?

Hi guys,
My phone is Le max 2 x821 4/64 from banggood.
I have same problem with signal, and additional phone don't see sim card in first and in second slot, You have some ideas what is ?
In my hidden menu everything is gray i can't choose any option my rom is - Small.EUI.V18.2.by;aurel. In original rom doing that same, no signal don't see a sim card in both slots.
Any sugestion ? Send back this phone for guarantee to china hehe ?
