[Q] Cannot enter SMSC Number. Please help. - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I am unable to send sms but can receive on my rooted Galaxy Note N7000.
When I check the Phone Information by dialing *#*#4636#*#*, the SMSC: field is blank.
If I click on refresh, it returns "00".
If I attempt to enter the number manually it just returns "update error".
I'm assuming that the number should be stored on the SIM card and for some reason the phone can't read/access the stored number. This happened once before after rooting the phone and all I had to do then was hit refresh and update. I did see that the SMSC field was blank when I re-checked it later, though, but sms was working correctly.
I tried installing Gingerbread 2.3.6. The Settings > About Phone confirms 2.3.6
but
1. it made no difference to the SMSC problem I describe above
2. all my settings, data and apps are still there.
3. the phone is still rooted.
I assumed all that would get wiped with a f/w upgrade. The instructions I followed said the phone would be reverted to non-rooted. I guess I must have got something wrong.
I talked to a guy at my local telco today. He spotted that the phone was rooted so was quick to blame that (maybe correctly) as the cause. However, when I showed him the settings page revealed by the *#*#4636#*#* string, he thought this was some software app I'd installed myself and not the phone's f/w till he typed the string on his own phone and saw it for himself.
Can anyone suggest a fix? Un-rooting? Wait for the next official Android upgrade for my phone/region?
Thanks in advance
Trevor

[Q] SCH-i535 not connecting to Verizon Data

Alright so I had some issues with my phone and ran a factory reset. Ended up have to flash the stock rom via odin on Windows 7. Since then my phone shows I am roaming, cannot send text messages, look at email, or make phone calls. I found that some files were deleted off of my phone as well. I am guessing that files I need on my phone to link up with Verizon's service are now gone. I need help with this!!!
Check the IMEI, MEID, and Phone Number on the "Phone info" section of your settings.

So I fixed all issues by following this link:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2066731
The main issue was the stock radio, I was able to find ATT and Tmobile by searching for networks on my phone haha. The issue was due to installing a Cyanogenmod update and not exactly sure what caused the issue but I am assuming the wrong update (correct Cyanogenmod nightly but wrong carrier) was installed. For now on I will be installing manually.
Thanks for your input!

NOTE 3 N900P SPRINT LOST APN,IMEI after Factory Reset! Help S.O.S

Hi XDA ,
Am new in the Forum & First of all thanks to all of you for helping the forum and people. I'm having difficulties and I cant seem to find the way to fix this(its been 2 weeks)
My problem is the following: I have a Samsung Galaxy Note 3 details:
software version: N900PVPUBMI3
hardware version N900P.00
Status: network: Digital roaming
mobile network type CDMA-AxRTT
Android 4.4.2
KERNEL:[email protected]#1
A friend bought me this phone and called my carrier METROPCS and made them set up the phone so I could use it. they asked him for imei and sim number. He was able to use the phone and 4GLTE(he was doing this to verify it was unlocked) later on he gave me the phone and I had to do the same procedure he did but first I did a factory data reset.
After it I wasn't able to set it up again.
I've noticed that APN SETTINGS has disappeared from the menu, cant search for networks, when I load IMEI it no longer shows the imei but it shows MEID B0000000 and besides all of this I have a message that says SIM CARD INVALID.(but the sim card works perfectly on my other phone)
I will all my life appreciate if you help me with this matter please!
PS. phone is rooted as far as I know(root check on Google play store said it was)
Sir,
Please wait until mods will move this thread to the device specific forum for more relevant answers.

Good luck

Hi Jim/XDA
I'm still not able to connect to the network. Regarding the IMEI on the back part i know its there however what im saying is that im not able to see my imei through command when i dial *#06#
i as well had this errors today when i woke up:
: LTE:ESM-x EMM-14(ive seen this error when this issue started but it dissapeared and it came back know)
data roaming: you have lost data connectivity because you left your home network with data roaming turned off.
On mobile networks i remember i use to be able to select many(GSM,CDMA,etc) now in network mode i only see 2 options LTE/CDMA,CDMA. Currently LTE/CDMA is selected and if you just look at the network mode option without actually opening it it shows CDMA/LTE/EVDO.
Also when i opened the SCRTN it shows on black screen.
I tried to do some minor changes on Galaxy tools like the SIM UICC UNLOCK all mps, sales, default code on XAS. Factory & keystring ON. MSL/SPC show 222222.
After i did SIM UICC UNLOCK and restarted phone know took away all errors but i see the signal bars faded out and with a little red x on top of it. I've read the manual but im still wondering if there might still be things to set on a particular way that are not specified on it Can you please help me set this up properly?

Is this a Sprint variant? If so, you shouldn't have factory reset the phone. It looked like the phone was previously flashed to MetroPCS and by resetting the phone, it removed all the carrier data.
You will have to reflash the phone to get it working again.

Is there a tutorial i could follow here ?
I greatly appreciate your help,

Hey guys, for those who need to edit an APN (Access Point Names), there is a little secret.
Go Settings, and scroll down the list. You will find a search box. Type there Access Piont Names and here it is.
The steps above are neccesary, since APN setting is hidden.

[Q] SIM Status - Network Unknown

Hello,
When I go to SIM Status in the settings, it says "Unknown" under "Network". I can't make calls nor text. However, 4g LTE data is working.
I live in the US and took a trip to Europe. This happened upon returning. I did not do anything unusual with my phone while abroad. While abroad, my phone connected to local networks without problem and I was able to send/receive text messages and make calls. When I got back to the US, it just says "no service" under the status.
Info:
* I am using the latest nightly of CM (which I flashed AFTER encountering this problem). No change. Before that I was using a nightly from a month or so ago without any issues
* I have checked the APN configuration and it looks correct
* My IMEI is intact and correct
* My baseband version is I545VRUAMDK
* I called Verizon and they said something about my phone not being able to enter the "Active" state. They are unsure as to whether or not it is a software problem or a network problem
Any ideas of how to fix this?
Solved
Just for the record, I fixed this problem by following the directions here.
Just in case the URL eventually fails, I used ODIN to restore back to stock, which did not initially fix the problem. From stock, I used the factory reset option from recovery mode. This fixed the problem. I still do not know what caused it.
One more problem not related to the above. Once I restored to stock and did a factory reset, I attempted to use the built-in updater to get to the latest version (currently Lollipop). The update failed with a 402 error. I was able to update using the Verizon Upgrade Assistant from my desktop computer. After upgrading this way, I ran into yet another problem with an error message that kept coming up, saying "com.android.phone has stopped working". I booted back into recovery and once again did a factory reset of the phone which fixed the problem. Everything is working as intended now.

Null IMEI, Service Menu blank

Before I start with the issue, let me begin with some basic information: This is in regards to my Samsung Galaxy S5 SM-G900T (T-mobile), running Lollipop 5.1.1, FOG6 build, DOB1 baseband, rooted, deodexed, but otherwise stock.
My problem: Today I flashed a rom via Mobile Odin Pro and soft-bricked my device. After a lot of hair pulling and screaming at my phone and computer, I finally got my phone up and running again. After trying many different solutions, I eventually tried re-flashing TWRP through Odin (recovery initially would not boot, hence the soft-brick), which succeeded, and then recovered my phone by restoring from a previous backup.
This got my phone up and running again, but once it boot, I had no service. I first checked my APN settings, but was presented with a message stating, "Unable to view the access point name settings. Access is restricted for the current user profile." I tried adding a new APN, but once I added it, it did not appear in the APN list, which continued to only display the above message. I then tried to "Search now" for Network Operators, but nothing was found. So next I checked my IMEI through "About Device", and discovered it was set to "Unknown". Checking the IMEI through the dialer (*#06#) lists the IMEI as "null / null".
I have searched high and low and tried everything I could find to fix this. I tried restoring my TWRP EFS backup to no effect. I also tried flashing the modem through Odin, as well as restoring my TWRP modem backup. I tried using an Xposed app to manually set the IMEI back to its original value (I happen to have my phone's original IMEI number written down from when I SIM unlocked my device), but while this updated the IMEI displayed in the dialer (through *#06#), it did not change the value in "About Device" and did not restore my service.
The last solution I tried (found here: http://www.technobezz.com/restore-galaxy-null-imei-and-fix-not-registered-on-network/) involves me using the dialer to enter Service Mode to make some changes; however, while dialing *#197328640# did open the Service Mode menu, the menu was totally blank.
Please help! Given the current state of my phone, I cannot make or receive calls or texts or do anything else requiring a mobile connection. I have looked everywhere and I don't know what else to try :crying: :crying:
Assistance in this matter would be greatly appreciated, as until I am able to fix this, I don't have a functional phone
Any suggestions?

Verizon Voicemail issue on U1 flashed S9+ with Visible carrier

Hi all,
Alright so this is going to be a long post. So I recently flashed my phone to the U1 firmware, I currently have an unrooted Verizon Unlocked Samsung S9+. I wanted to switch phone carriers over to Visible (subsidiary of Verizon), here are the order of events that occurred:
1. Visible's website says that my device in not compatible using their IMEI checker, there is a solution that was found on reddit about flashing the device on the U1 firmware.
2. I flashed the device on the U1 firmware using Odin and the Visible SIM card worked as expected. No issues with the flash
3. Data/Texts etc.. are all working as expected. Except for Voicemail.
When I try to check my Voicemail, it is acting as if it's still on the Verizon Voicemail system. It says "Welcome to the message management system, please enter your mailbox number". No one can leave me a VM either because of this. I tried several different combinations of numbers, including my full 10 digit cell number and last 4, to which it says "XXX is not a valid mailbox number", which would be because my number is no longer active on Verizon, so it's unable to access it. Which makes sense. The Visible Customer Care team tried the following:
1. Provisioning my VM multiple times
2. Take out SIM card, turn phone off for 1 min, insert SIM card again, and toggle airplane mode for 30 seconds
3. Reset network settings
After numerous days of troubleshooting with them, eventually they said it was because my device isn't compatible, ok, I can't argue with that. I have not seen anyone else experiencing this issue that had flashed their phone to U1 firmware.
After trying all of this with them, I eventually factory reset my device, hoping that might do something. That still did not work.
My questions is, is there something I missed with flashing the U1 firmware? Why is it still using Verizon's VM system even though I flashed it to U1? Is there any way to fix this? Any help is greatly appreciated, and please don't hesitate if you need any other information.

Please check your voice mail settings in your phone app. See my screenshots.
There you should select the correct service provider and the Visible mailbox number.
